You wanna have real fun in one of these? Over the Alps to Monaco... I am doing it for the fifth time in June. Similar spec, but 4x4. 6 degree rear beam (rose jointed), and it DOES handle... Yeah, I am a boy racer....Aged 69! Cossies forever!!!!!
You never get too old to enjoy cars like the cossie they are just that addictive and despite being a vauxhall man myself i do want a cossie in my life at some point👍
I grew up wanting this. Times have changed, cars are different, safer, faster. I still want this! Not a Ford fan? Who wants a mint R32 over a R35? Exactly this was from an era that can never be replicated today
Modern cars are not safer. People have been deceived. Those car crash tests have only been done at about 50 km/h. People at an average are driving far faster today than in the past with people routinely doing 80 km/h as a cruising speed which is 60% faster than the actual testing speeds. SO while it is true that modern cars when driven at the same speeds as cars 30 years ago would be safer it becomes relevant when it is considered that drivers are going at higher speeds today.
Dan Sherwood people used to look at like I was mad for saying the exact same thing mate.... same goes supras and skylines too, give me a 3dr or saph any day of the week 💪🏼💪🏼
It's a shame that nowadays I see more ferraris and lambos than cossies. They're becoming way too expensive and rare and it's unfortunate they rarely come out to play
These cars are way before my time but fuck me there’s nothing out there that even comes close to one, imagine the smiles u woulda put on people’s faces as u overtook then sideways on the limiter musta brought them back some memories. So nice too see one getting used how it was made to get used, in the cosworth forums they don’t get driven at all or are kept below 2k revs. This guys a g
One of the best uploads out there on RU-vid! Pure nostalgia for me. I had the privilege of living near the infamous Reyland Escort Cossie and my love for Cossies began there! Big up to Dave for that experience 👍
@@vp5 Nah sorry buddy I don't..I do recall Martin's friend who I believe was called Marco who had am absolutely lovely, mint 3 Door Cossie in Moonstone Blue!
Laguna spliter spotted! Proper period mod. lol Grew up watching these ripping Novas, Corsas, Saxos to shreds on the local duals and 1-ways. Rumor one had 500bhp 90-98% of these have been used, well used. lol Kinda was our late 90's drift car.
@@anthonyking5414 Well yeah they did. And now the cycle continues with the Japanese cars becoming expnsive collector pieces, if not written off before hand.
Love it mate nice to see you 10 mins from where I live and to see things I pass daily. Description is for the Supra video though, just a heads up 👍 much luv
Back in the 90s, Mine was magenta rwd, Blade wheels, Koni sus, Low springs, Drilled discs, Goodrige hoses, Scorpion exhaust, Reg B19 RSC, I always used to be up, The merry hill dudley, On a night, Good memories.
What an absolute beast! Pure jokes with the back stepping out at speed...hugely entertaining. Nice little drift around the car park too. The owner seems like a sound guy. Certainly has good taste with the Cossie + Kangoo sleeper. My friend 's dad had an identical Saph Cossie from new back in 1990. Gave us kids something to drool over. Top vid. Lots of fun.
@@monkylondon I remember a Calibra Turbo and an M5 racing in front of me when I had the last of the Sapphires (NA thing - slow as Golden Syrup on a spoon). The Calibra got humped as the pair of them left my Sapphire for dead away from 120.
Gucci Hughes we used to have a meet at the waterfront and then off to the laps, or into Birmingham for wheels or over to bassets pole. Cameras everywhere now and every car park is locked up
Well I got my 4x4 28 years ago, 200k on with 330 horses, a real sheep in wolves, nothing on 4 wheels will give you more fun and an appreciation of the guys who engineered this car.
According to wiki: mainly manufactured in Germany, Belgium, and the United Kingdom, although Sierras were also assembled in Ireland, Argentina, Venezuela, South Africa and New Zealand.
@@monkylondon the sapphire cossies were all assembled in genk 🤷♂️but enough of that - quality vid as per, hopefully more old school fords on the channel soon!
My second car was a ford sierra hatchback Mk1. I wanted a cosworth RS but could not afford it. I remember hearing people talk about lap times around the M25. Those were fun times 😃 The RS cosworth was up there with the best for lap times around the M25. This was before the government installed cameras around that route and ruined our fun. Don’t worry, I never tried it in my 1.6L Sierra. I could never keep up with the Cosworth 🙂
I have always wanted one of these. The closest we got to these was the Merkur XR4Ti...and they died off fairly quickly. I know that we got a few of those 16 valve turbo Cossie engines, but I don't remember in what. Usually we got the turd 2.3 8 valve turbo that came in the Thunderbird Turbocoupe. Imagine that, a car that weighs 3380 lbs with a 190 hp 240 lb ft 4 cylinder...wow...at least it came with a manual trans. I've driven them many times and they never failed to disappoint.
Legendary.. always wanted one in the early 90s, but being only around 22 insurance was higher than I could count. Had a S2 Escort RS Turbo at least, chipped by Power Engineering in Uxbridge.. Good days.
I love this video, I miss my saff it was a similar spec to this running 360 bhp , Biggest regret of my life selling it. I use to have a J&R rs500 filter on it and the turbo flutter was so loud.
I remember giving up smoking and going out for two years and saving so I could finally get one of these, ended up buying severn valley motorsports demonstrator as they were moving onto the escort Cosworth, going back to wales across the bridge made it all worthwhile and had no regrets despite some toerag stealing it three days later!!!!! love it, brings back some great memories
One Life Vlogs Ford Motorsport built the four door for RALLYING and miki biasion , Colin McRae , Ari Vatanen etc etc rallied the thing. You must be new to cosworths
I think that might be the car my Late-Dad might have built! He blue printed a 400Bhp 4x4 Saff Cosworth. He built a blue printed engine for my brother Roy. Roy being the muttet, used it to pay a debt and I've been hunting for it. Since 2010. It's my Dads best work. Could u check to see if Roy A##### is on Log book history? Many thanks
Awesome vid dude! I've had a few of these and XR4x4's years ago and always had a blast in them!! Love old school classic's and sleepers! Awesome video man! 👍
Always my dream car one of these Sadly family life means i will never afford one nowadays Nice to see it thrashing round dudley / merry hill Brings back some memories of all the cruses there bitd in my xr2i and my mates r5 turbo/ 205gti /
This man knows his cars! The cossie was something else..... an engine and technology they deemed to early for us to have. Now 20 year's later all the new cars are turbo but the old boy cossie will always rule the roost!
Proper motor! Looks like a reyland AP brake kit, his only based in redditch now, you are in the right area for cossie stuff though, lot of big names around Birmingham and Dudley for these
My dad owned a sapphire cossie donkeys years ago when I was a nipper, it was a dark shade of purple thats all I can remember , that and the fact it was FAST. I was too young to take note of it back then but he had many a sierra in his life time..... nothing could compare to the purple lump though , He's dead now and never got to see technology like RU-vid blossom but I'd swear on it he'd spend his life watching you boys videos with sierras hahahaha !
My dad has a sapphire cosworth, it's left hand drive because he lives in France, he is thinking of selling it if anyone is interested, it is completely original from the Recaro seats to the original wheels. It's a nice car, it sounds great and goes like stink.
LOVED this video. Never got my hands on one and still regret it. Moved to the USA now so wont be finding one over here. Got a 5.7 hemi charger running more power but this makes me more excited even just watching it on my phone. COSSIE POWER!
long live the sapphires awesome. it's ma daily driver just no a cos tho 2.0 205 block injection head and a twin choke Webber goes awryt like great video cheers
