A documentary film about the largest elephants on earth and what is being done to ensure their survival needs your help! #LastoftheBigTuskers www.kickstarter.com/projects/tuskersmovie/last-of-the-big-tuskers
The guy who narrates this clip is really captivating... the clip as a whole is almost Hollywood quality and this all for a elephant most people never even heard of... Props to your team... Who is the narrator of this clip?
Because I have been such a huge animal lover all my life I just can never understand how people could be so cold hearted to slaughter any animal for profit.... I accidentally ran over a cat and I cried for days because I killed it ..... So I cannot justify anyone being so cold hearted to murder these magnificent beast and not give a damn about doing it . RIP MY BEAUTIFUL GENTLE GIANT
Its Animals that have souls and its the inhumans that took Isilo tusks and showed no respect and contempt for a Beautiful Elephants body that are souless and cruel.
Josh Hartwell the video claims he was not killed but I am always suspicious of unproven negatives. Perhaps the poachers lured him deep into the bush away from rangers to kill him and take the ivory. It would've represented such an ongoing temptation to try for those massive tusks and his regular location was well known. If by chance or by design the fatal wound was made just where the tusks were later hacked away it may simply appear like there was no killing shot and, given his age and size, it's easy to say "natural causes" and move on.
It is gratifying that he died of old age instead of being killed for his tusks as so many of the big tuskers have been. I hope that with the DSWT and KWT that more of these magnificent elephants will grow to also this great age.
@@curious5887 if all of them managed to reach the same as Big Tim, Craig, Duke, Isilo, Satao, Satao ll we would have 33 more of them. From what I heard in Amboseli Craig managed to breed with a lot of cows and spread his great genetics for his calves. Is so sad that we have almost 25 of these giants who are like the Mammoths of our modern times.
When I saw the title it said the last. I would hope he has fartherd many. I noticed his ears were small for an African. Magnificent creatures protect them at all costs
Today the tuskers do not have rights to life even inside a wildlife sanctuary so sad. Please protect at least to them be witnessed by our own children one day.
This is not goodbye, it’s I’ll see you soon. Not sure I believe the “we don’t know how he died but we know he wasn’t killed” version of the story. If he died all alone deep in the African bush and his tusks were gone, how can you be sure he wasn’t killed? Also, how did they identify him given his tusks were gone? I know some parks and reserves microchip or place gps collars on the elephants they come across and sometimes take DNA, just curious if that was ever done
i think this animal was identifiable by more than just his tusks....and it is simple to tell if he was shot.....the question i have is..how did poachers know where to find him.....clearly, he was being followed for years....someone waiting for the day....that he would die.....but..he lived nearly 60 years...king of all he surveyed.....inspired love....not a bad life....
Wait. If you aren't sure how he died, and by the time you found his tusks were already taken by poachers, how do you know he wasn't killed by poachers?
I'm sure that they did an Autopsy/Necropsy on him otherwise they probably wouldn't have revealed the COD as being unk. If he had been poached then they would have been able to tell. He was like 58 years old. Asian elephants live apx 48 years but apparently there is record of an 86 years old Asian, African Forest elephants 60 years and African Bush apx 60 so he lived just about his entire life expectancy. I am surprised that he lived that long with all the big game hunting going on, it is so disgusting and beyond sad, especially people like Kendall Jones, and the dentist Palmer that killed Cecil the lion after luring/coaxing him out of the compounds of the sanctuary he was living on, that ass should have been thrown in jail because it was intentional. And then there is Rebecca Francis posing with a Giraffe that she murdered, and a 12 year old girl named Aryanna Gourdin that posed by a Zebra and a Giraffe that she murdered. What the hell is wrong with these people? My GOD their grandchildren will only be able to see these big beautiful animals in books and on the internet because all of these big game hunters are being given licenses to kill, can you believe that?? It is legal and I for the life of me cannot figure out why. Shame on them!!
judging by the fact he lived to be 58, he probably died of old age. The vast majority of elephants in the wild don't make it to 60. He had a good life.
I lived in Africa for several years and had the honour to see wild elephant and to stroke yes stroke a white rhino. I am not a hippy or a veggie but I do believe that poachers shoud have their toes and fingers chopped off and then taken out into the bush and left... see how they survive. Poaching is the scourge of Africa and those behind should not be allowed diplomatic status or be immune to punishment... as they are the instigators remove their toes and fingers the same but maybe removea few other bits as well before being take and left in the bush... I wonder how many people you would have to do this to before poaching reduced dramatically? Not many I suspect.
@TEMPEST :-[ I'm guessing they didn't know of his death but came across the carcass. You can imagine the feeding frenzy. That would be difficult to miss.
It absolutely breaks my heart how many of these magnificent creatures we humans have massacred and stole from. Mother Earth, forgive us for the evil we have done onto your precious other children. Teach us how to expiate our life-destructing sins and help you heal and restore your bountiful dominion!
We humans are the greatest and most powerful animals ever to evolve. Nature is not your friend, try being thrust into a jungle and you will be eaten or starve to death and then be eaten. Try to survive in arctic conditions and nature will reward you with a slow and painful death. The sins of man are lessons that you surely have not learned from, while you preach from your nature raping electronic device.
@@just-fh4rx the same mate. Those tusks belong only and only to Isilo, who was one of the True Kings of the African Bush. A true living modern times African Mammoth. Is so sad that from hundreds of these Tuskers like 300yrs ago and now are almost 25 of them. I have good news about Tuskers. Wanna to hear it?
This is confusing to me. You said he wasn't murdered for his tusks. You also say he died deep in the African bush. So how would poachers run accross him to be able to steel the tusks if they didn't kill him somehow? And why would certain game reserves sell giant tasker hunter permits when the animal is worth so much more alive than dead? Dont they realize rich tourists PAY to see them? I mean you can kill him once make what, let's call it $500,000.00? (I have no idea what a hunting permit would cost but i hope i over estimated for this) but if he lives 60 years you make 60 years worth of rich tourists money. What you gonna do when the giant tuskers are gone? You realize they genes they would've passed on to there babies would give them a possibility of havinv that gene that gives them the ability to grow the giant tusks. You must see how poaching hunting has reduced the tusks grown. Sorry to whomever is producing this video most of this comment goes to the stupid people that are trying to make these elephants extinct. Ty for showing this.
Those..who saw him in REAL LYF..wl nvr frgt..sure SIR..its tru..evn thru this short video..itslf..thru uo words..v cn feel his wondrfull muscular..appearnce..A BIG SALUTE TO U..ISILO..REST IN PEACE..😚
how did poachers know where to find him.....clearly, he was being followed for years....someone waiting for the day....that he would die.....but..he lived nearly 60 years...king of all he surveyed.....inspired love....not a bad life....
He was magnificent, the sad thing about him being one of kind.... Is that literally he may be. Death to all poachers, trophy hunters and snair trapper's. And please make it long and torturous 😁
I never understood why the poachers just dont tranq the tuskers then use a buzz saw. Not only are they not killing these titans but would be keeping them around to go again when they grow back. Obviously I would want this I'm just wondering why they dont do that.
Please, lets do something about this whole Chinese ivory market thing. Lets not just watch this beautiful animal being driven into extinction, while we continue living our ignorant lives on this planet we have plagued with our presence..
I'm so glad to hear that it sounds like this big boy died peacefully. Really infuriating what these poachers do. I understand most people will do horrible things for money, but it doesn't keep the disappointment away.
I'm betting it was park staff or management involved in those tusks disappearing and not poachers at all. If "poachers" were currently the big deal they are made out to be then that elephant would have been taken out long before. I do get a kick out of some of the illogical theories on here though. Poachers sneaking in the bushes and following an elephant for decades until it dies of old age. Lmao. Sure that happened. Poachers are arrested or shot on sight. As such if there are any poachers left, they have to rely on opportunities. They aren't walking around hiding in the bushes for years waiting for an elephant to drop dead of old age. If you look at that herd they almost all have tusks so clearly most, if not all, of the poaching is in hand. Why? because before it was in hand governments were tranquilizing and cutting off the tusks to make the elephants less desirable to poach. I think after 2 to 3 decades of conservation and the harshest of punishments for poachers and now generations entirely inexperienced and unexposed to elephant hunting it's very likely that the majority of poaching threat is a fairy tale fear tactic to continue to gain massive financial support for a once serious issue that is not an issue of note any longer.
He lived the life of a wild bull elephant, and died a natural death. We mourn his loss but celebrate his life. May his kind roam the savannas for eternity.
Could the tusks not have been removed and secured before poachers found them? No reason to leave them out there, with the chance of some bastards getting very rich from them.
I'm pretty sure those park caretakers found the dead elephant, sold the tusks on the black market then blamed it on poachers. Poachers would have killed that elephant long time ago. Clearly this elephant died of old age.
Elephants tend to know when they are dying so they tend to wander off on their own to do this . .it is only when they have died that the others come and visit them, and sometimes even remove and smash the tusks if they still have them . .so they choose to die alone if its old age . .
Sometime between 2012 and 2014, I was watching Tembe's cam and saw Isilo, Mkdebona and Induna have a friendly munching session, with the two younger tuskers respectfully (or so it seemed) a little further away from the king than from each other. It was tremendous to see. They'd all visit and sometimes 2 would show up. This was the first and last time I saw all 3 together.
A very touching video, made me sad at his passing. Shame on the poachers for taking history away from Isilo, and the people that buy Ivory. Just remember one day we all have to answer for the wrong's we've done in our lives... Rest In Peace Gentle Giant Isilo... Beautiful story.
What is your confusion? There were not traces or evidence that it was killed by poachers, but his tusk were taken after he does. No confusion to be had here!
nightlightabcd well was the carcass decayed when they found it? There’s more explanation needed. And if a majestic animal like him was as revered as him you’d think they’d have monitored him better.
It would be difficult to miss the giant feeding frenzy that such a large carcass would produce. Hundreds of vultures and God knows how many Hyenas, Jackals and other carnivores.
I come to watch this over and over. And He was magnificent! RIP Isilo! I wouldn't do this of course but I would say that poachers should be poached from this earth! I am grateful he didn't die from the hands of poachers!
