That last match against Dimir was crazy and exciting. Props to a great Control player. Deck was really smooth. Also calling out Jace and saying he's not that great and then immediately dying to him after the fact was kinda priceless 😂
The ultimate irony about the Big Score is that, unlike Aftermath, it actually has plenty of good cards in it. If they'd acknowledged that the lack of commons makes it feel bad to pay the same amount for fewer physical cards (even though the density of playable cards is higher than in a regular draft/play pack) and knocked a dollar or so off the pack price I think Big Score as an epilogue set would have been pretty well received. Certainly better than it being the bonus sheet 2.5 and barely accessible because they didn't guarantee a slot for the cards.

I think that there was a chance once you recognized the Jace mill issue you could have double spell to trigger the celestus by casting the second sheoldred just to switch back, that way they would draw two at 3 life.
Control never ''falls out of favor''. There will always be yellowhat-type players that will make it work. It really depends on what bloomburrow gives us. I could see control sticking around if the format becomes another midrange snoozefest.
Control can be such a snooze fest but this was actually a really exciting final match. Maybe UW is more miserable to play against because the blow outs are so much worse and they have so much more exile removal (looking at sunfall specifically).
I think Reid only had one constructed match on camera (Day 1 against Jean Emmanuel Depraz who was playing Esper midrange); it's on the 7th rd after the 10th hour mark. It was a pretty sweet match too showing how to maneuver Golgari in midrange mirrors.
I would absolutely play 4 copies of Shadow of Mortality in this deck. It would absolutely make the deck worse, but the idea of flipping it off of Bronco and doming your opponent (or yourself) for 15 is too hilarious not to play!
@@DiscardatRandomfor me when I play magic on the ladder I prefer doing funny or interesting things over the better meta things. I tend to have more fun trying to make janky things that still work against meta decks than playing the meta decks themselves. I do enjoy playing actual good decks once in a while though and grinding the ladder. Just depends what I'm feeling that day when I play.
I probably wouldn't? The only deck that you really want to get with Steel and Oil at the moment is The 4 colour Legends List - otherwise Duress is better cus the rest of your cards can take care of their creatures.
