@@Teeeeepahhhhh i'm sorry but im going pick this fight a little bit. the ways their bodies have changed due to breeding standards of faces squished in as much as possible, has caused a variety of problems across the breed as well as with other brachycephalic pets. in this episode we saw how the dog's tongue swelled up because it's skull was too small to hold it. there was an episode of vet on the hill (i believe) with a bulldog (another brachycephalic breed) that couldn't breathe properly because its face was too squashed in. even if one buys from a responsible breeder, the demand is still there, which encourages irresponsible breeders. more than that there is an authority that says these cute squished faces are good because they're aesthetically pleasing, despite evidence showing the effects of breeding these traits being detrimental to the health of the animals. im sure your dog is healthy and you are a caring pet owner but that doesn't mean that very many of these dogs don't suffer because of the effects of their breeding.

My pug is 9 years old and his behind leg joints are dissolved and he can't use his behind legs now 😔😔

My pug ended up having seizures and had bad hip and back leg problems. Seeing him become an old man broke my heart. Always visiting the vet. Its very common that the breed pug ends up with variety of health problems

We got an elderly from the shelter with the exact same kind of tongue problem, but she's too old for surgery unfortunately. It's really sad to see, and because of the health problems a lot of pugs do end up in shelters, so if you're able to foot the bills you're sure to find one there

I love pugs as well, I have two. They’re half siblings from the same breeder and they’re super healthy, look more like pug mixes than pugs, long legs, minimal wrinkles and longer snouts. They’re truly the most kind dogs. I hate how their popularity causes irresponsible breeding. The only thing real pug lovers can do is support truly responsible (health driven) breeders and adopt.

noise and temper, also some of the biggest canine teeth to body ratio(that they will happily use on whoever they get those teeth on) granted, marsupials do just make a variety of horrible sounding noises(seriously look up angry koala noises, entirely nightmarish)

@@kathyflorcruz552 not all breeders are greedy and personally I support responsible breeders because their great for people who need working dogs such as service dogs, search and rescue, police dogs, ect. I personally will not use a rescue dog for service work because it doubles the wash out rate (wash out meaning early retirement) and I don't want to rehome dog after dog because they don't work out.

read about a vet that would ask her clients ''if you were a dog, what type of dog would you want to be'' the answers were always - huskies, german shepherd, pit bulls and such. so then she would ask them ''why would you then get a dog that cant move properly, cant breath properly, and got all these other genetic problems?'' and i really wish more vets would do that

They didn't bring the dog earlier, because it got more and more severe over time. It had gotten too bad for the dog to live with it, so they took it to the vet. The family probably got tired of taking care of this dogs tounge, like keeping it hydrated, so they took it to the vet.

I don't support this kinda holding but in the other hand these animals are bit savage This is the easiest way to hold without getting bit by them. Well, she *might* have just wanted to prepare herself for the change mentally. I'm judging her a lot more for letting the problem get so bad before bringing her in for veterinary attention in the first place.

Semi agree. Pugs don't have the best quality of life but there are SOME who can live happy, healthy lives. 100% of declawed cats live the rest of their lives in excruciating pain and many end up being put down/killed when they start biting (can you blame them!) and are unable to use the litter box because they can't bear to drag the amputation stumps that they're forced to walk on through the litter. Cats are digitigrades meaning they bear all of their weight on their toes; as a result, all declawed cats develop premature arthritis from trying not to put weight on their mangled toes. Pugs certainly don't have the quality of life they should, but at least they don't ALL live everyday of their shortened lives in agony and most of their issues can be surgically fixed. I do, of course, agree that they either shouldn't be bred period or should bred back to the way they originally were, which was a much healthier Dog with a normal quality of life

@@jagoldenpyrenees491 Ive worked with declawed cats, and while the results you’ve mentioned are true for a lot of cats, its HEAVILY reliant on the skill of the veterinarian performing the declawing, and the method they use (laser or traditional). If done correctly, the cat has no problem walking, using the litter box, etc. Granted all the cats ive worked with only have their front paws done, not their hind, I’ve not once met a declawed cat who was bitey because of their claws or any pain associated with losing them. However BECAUSE of how skill reliant the procedure is, it shouldn’t be performed unless absolutely necessary because of how many are botched.

@@minkiedinks When is declawing ever "necessary"? There are soft "claw caps" you can buy for your cat if it's very important to prevent scratching.

The majority of dog buyers seem to be like this. I'm not saying all. There's plenty of well educated ones. People tend to think "oh, that's cute. I need one". They buy it, use it until they lose interest and often neglect or abandon it.

How could you let your baby get that bad? I genuinely hate irresponsible pet owners, this possibly could have been prevented, just don’t buy animals that you can’t care for effectively.

I have a pug did my research on the breeder . Our pug is very healthy and has no breathing, teeth or anything problems. She is awesome she is a therapy dog for my son. I agree there is those not taking care very sad. Please don't hate all of us for owning these awesome dogs

@@Elvxn13 It's not just breeders, it's uneducated buyers, if people would educate themselves and stop buying these breeds, there would be no demand and people would stop breeding them. It's not just looks, it's money, people are willing to pay a LOT for these puppies/kittens. It sucks for the animal and the ignorant owner suddenly faced with all these medical bills :/ Boxers included, Boxers are actually incredibly unhealthy.

same. they can be so cranky, mouthy and ornery but at the same time, they can show tremendous loyalty and love to their young and to the humans who have cared for them. they kind of remind me of some of my favorite family members actually. lol i miss them. ah well, at least the Tazzies are still around to listen to gripe. [sad smile]
