One needs to understand this truck to love it. Once one owns it (we have one), for the work and the abuse it takes from us, you don’t think of another car. Very reliable, dependable, gets you anywhere on any type of road daily (our roads are non existent), 445000 km, not a single glitch, ours is a diesel. We also have the 150, 120 and 40 series Land Cruiser. Coming from German cars, we have not spent any money on repairs other than standard service. Kaizen.

Once again, way to many details that Toyota has overlook. Hook up for the wiring for the trailer is a real big one. Especially for those of us who are getting older and bending over is not a lot of fun anymore. Not to mention where it’s located it will most likely become caked in dirt and mud. The lack of horsepower to quickly get up to speed to merge into highway traffic is a dangerous oversight. A DEAL BREAKER. Often merge lanes run out quickly, and you either have to slam on your brakes or slam the gas pedal down, otherwise you’ll run into a guard rail in some cases. If you think you were having problems now with low unexpected acceleration to merge onto the highway, just wait until you have three additional passengers with plenty of cargo in the back. If you don’t have a safe opening to merge onto the highway, you will simply have to stop in your merge lane. Then you’ll really have your work cut out for you trying to accelerate into oncoming high speed traffic from a dead stop onto a highway. In my book this SUV you apparently bought? ...is a death trap waiting to happen. And you can hear it in the tone of your voice that you’re not exactly happy camper with this SUV either. If you indeed bought it, I’d sell it and get into something else. For me? A turbo charged Lincoln Navigator. I believe you did a review on it, and I’m gonna go back and watch it again. By the way, you provide outstanding reporting on vehicles. Sad that more don’t follow your lead. Cheers! 🍷🍷

I understand your perspective but I have to disagree. The LC is a purposebuilt car. It is an offroader first but happens to have some creature comforts to make it more appealing. The LC is slow to get new tech because Toyota is just too busy working on actual engineering to make things more reliable. That's why they get refreshes so infrequently. These cars are life/death in most other parts of the world so their focus is there. Official vehicle of the United Nations. And as of 2022 we're losing the LC for good possibly in the USA. In the USA we don't NEED them. We don't rely on them. Our roads are great (overall) and you can get most places in a sedan. Landcruisers really shine to most people over time. Or those who put the car through its paces. Of course if you go to the dealership and compare other similarly priced cars side by side the LC will lose. But for superficial reasons. Some people like the latest and greatest tech. Then get that car because in 4 or 5 years you'll get another one. Not the LC's market. You mentioned the turbocharged Navigator. Hint: turbo. Not even close to the same car as the LC. If you value reliability and lengevity, get a LC. If not, buy a Navigator. I'd love to see an offroad comparison between the two. Also a "highest mileage" comparison.

Why is the spedometer not very precise? Every little white line is 2mph. Not precise enough?

Every second I spend counting little white lines and multiplying them by two to calculate my speed I am not looking at the road. I understand one can get a good estimate by glancing but I would rather see the digital speedometer be consistently in view.

Well with that price and considering how old this model has been around... To me getting a new Kia Is much likely to help me save money and having a reliable car for 4-5 years Still I enjoyed watching the review thank you

Mike, thanks for this excellent review - one of the best Land Cruiser reviews online (if not the best). One question: From your video I gather than this was a press vehicle with some miles on it - any rattles, squeaks, noises? Any loose trim pieces? I assume not....

Toyota is shooting themselves in the foot by selling the Sequoia which undercuts the ole Landcruiser. If they just removed the Sequoia and offered a stripped down Landcruiser it would still sell in this country. Sell a Landcruiser Heritage as base. No leather, cheaper sound system, etc. Then offer a Landcruiser Limited with all the options. Anything would be better than offering two vehicles so close in price and purpose.

For those in know this is the greatest vehicle ever made. Not an exaggeration. It’s made in a special factory in Japan and is the most durable reliable toughest go anywhere vehicle in the world. No matter how much money. It will last 400,000 miles with minimal maintenance. It is a car that you owned for 20 years and when you sell it people actually pay you a lot of money. I hate to say it but you can’t compare this to an expedition Yukon Denali Escalade those types of vehicles. I don’t care that the brand is Toyota. For those who now now this is the best car in the world

I have the 2016 one. I enjoyed it for couple of years,then I got the cayenne turbo. I don’t enjoy it as much now , but know this. My son now is going to be driving a car soon,and if there is one car I am going to have him drive,its this one. TROUBLE FREE, TOUGH, NOTHING STOPS IT. It’s like a fall back car for me when other cars go wrong. It’s just a reliable wonderful loyal pet....you CANNOT GO WRONG WITH IT

You need to familiarize yourself with "trucks" and "cross-overs". This is a truck. It exhibits most of the truck traits. Sitting high up and less power assist are two such traits. If you want a cross-over then buy one. The list is long. This is one of the last truck-based suvs. Do your homework.

We traded our 2014 4Runner SR5 Premium for a 2016 Land Cruiser, and we have a 16 Tundra Platinum as well. Both 5.7 V8’s drink gas (knew that going in), but we love both of them. Only negative I can complain about so far is the small gas tank on the Land Cruiser (24.6 gallons), compared to the 38 gallon gas tank on our Tundra. We’ll definitely look at the Land Cruiser (if Toyota keeps producing them) when it’s time to replace the 2016. I thought Land Cruisers were overpriced and not worth the cost before we bought one, now I know why people keep these things for 10-15 years then list them for sale for $25k.

Expensive? .....Has anyone priced a Navigator? Yukon? Escalade? Aviator? F150 platinum? They all hang in the 70-90k range with this....The difference is they will all be on a used car lot in 5 years for 35k,,,,with a check engine lite on. The LC will just be breaking in.😎

I just got mine and I been wanted a suv without the 3rd row seats. This is not for in town family car; for that get a Sequoia. It is built to be the best reliable overland suv. I got it to off grid traveling and camping with freedoms to explore US including Alaska and Canada, I can build a platform for a bed and able to sit up. Off grid driving and reliability are the main reason I got the car...RV is not for me😁 it is big enough I can carry a overland refrigerator/ freezer, a Jerry can with the filters, and other gears

The Landcruiser is Toyota's highest priced, lowest volume vehicle in their lineup. This generation and engine has been the same for what, 8-10 yrs? It's needs a vast styling update along with an updated and more powerful and efficient drivetrain
