A few tips: 1. If you press and hold the toggle on the climate/entertainment bar, it prompts you to pick a default, a great way to avoid some people’s complaints about having to guess what mode the knob is in. 2. Kia put out a great software update that amps up a bunch of functionality in April. You have to pull it down using a computer and usb drive… 3. The hold button by the charge port actually is used to bypass charge scheduling (so if you have it set to only charge at night but for some reason you want electrons midday…). Great car, I’ve loved mine for the entire 6 months I’ve owned it.
The doors will unlock and lock by pushing the dimple on the handle. You just did not push it hard enough. Hold the handle open and you'll see the black switch button inside on the door. If you add a "stick on" plastic button to raise it a bit it works better. The problem in the door handle is too far from the button. The charging port is exactly the same, I added a small stick on clear spacer to move both closer to the handle and door and they require almost no effort to open or lock now. Great review thanks Mike
I thought this was an excellent walk-through of the EV6. It was more informative than most I have seen, and it is inspirational… i.e. I am going to be buying an EV6 GT-Line S AWD with heat pump, getting it in the UK in the first week of October 2024. Thanks for your EV6 review. I’m a bit jealous of your weather, as summertime here lasts for a week or maybe two each year!
FYI the Wind does have keyless entry - you just have to push kinda hard on the door handle with your finger. There's a little button hidden behind it that will be pushed to unlock the door when you do that, assuming the key is in range. Just touching the little dimple on it isn't enough.
I think this is Wind WITH the Tech Package when you have this function. I bought one this week and you have to press very had on the handle for it to then push on a rubber button/nipple inside next to the key hole for manually unlocking the car. It feels like it's going to break soon having to push it so hard.
NIce I like the detailed info screen and control examination. A couple of things. I am told there is an auto function for the regen braking that slows the car when needed in traffic but is different than adaptive cruise control cause it won't necessarily keep the same distance from the car in front but can also be adjusted how strong it comes on with the paddle shifters. Turned off the regen completely on my test drive and the car just sails with almost no friction. So nice on the hwy. There is also a setting for those hvac/ media controls where you can have one or the other always come up unless you choose the other then it goes back automatically to your preferred setting. Yes the lights on my Hyundai Santa Cruz seem too high as well but the dealer said they were in spec and he wasn't allowed to change them. I may have to take it to a non dealer shop cause they definitely seem too high to me. Don't think you mentioned it but neither the EV6 or the Ionic 5 have wireless Android or Carplay. You have to plug in a cord to one certain usb port on the lower dash but the pad for the phone is way back near the arm rest. Poeple have had to add a wireless dongle for $150 to make the system wireless. This vehicle has so much nice tech that I will not be able to not make it my first choice in an EV thanks.
Thanks for posting such a detailed overview on the car. I'm planning to buy a 2023 Wind RWD this year. It's too bad that you have to unlock the doors with the key fob in this day and age. I thought you could push the indent on the door handle to lock and unlock the doors. Do you know if the RWD has the heated steering wheel function?
You need to stay closer to the car to get it to move with the remote. The bottom button in the charge port is for overriding a charging schedule. Otherwise you have to change or pause your charging schedule.
Your hand at the start is looking a little yellow, have you been checked for liver failure? Joking aside, very good video, can't believe I stayed for the full hour!
@@MikesCarInfo LOL cool i just said the patented part because the channel C&Rsenal always calls it his patented plastic pokey he just has one of those tiny ones though
