Coliva is a traditional and ritualistic dish in Orthodox culture, consumed especially during religious services and in periods of mourning, such as funerals or memorial commemorations. It is made from boiled wheat, symbolizing life and rebirth, and is mixed with sugar, crushed nuts or almonds, oil, cinnamon, and other ingredients, depending on the local recipe and tradition. Coliva is typically served in a flat container, and those participating in religious or family events eat it as a sign of respect for the deceased person or in their memory. This is an important tradition in many Orthodox communities and holds profound significance within religious ceremonies and mourning culture.
Coliva, the divine dessert I could say, or the last dessert of our loved ones. It may seem a bit strange, but that's how it is. This is how we honor them and remember our loved ones in our lives. That's why I allowed myself to call it "Traditional Romanian COLIVA Recipe", and yes, I used all my knowledge to create a super delicious recipe, a recipe with all the secrets on the table.
