It is Amstel Gold Race weekend and what better Strava segment is there to attempt than the Speedcheck Bijna de Amstel in?! How the river is related to the Amstel Gold Race is one of the things you are about to find out in this video!
Welcome to another episode of iKOMic. In this series I take on multiple Iconic KOM's. So what is an iconic KOM? An iconic KOM is a Strava Segment that has at least 100k attempts, or the segment is at an iconic location.
In this episode I'll try to beat the insane KOM at the: Speedcheck bijna de Amstel in (link below). The Strava segment is 1 kilometer and the current record is 60 km/h (~37 m/h). Will I get this KOM?

Those wheels look familiar I used to have a set of fast forward alloy carbon laminate 62 mm super heavy, still to this day my fastest wheel ever used regretfully sold it a few years back.

I bought this set second hand with the rest of the bike and my whole setup was just under € 800 3 years ago. Not all fast bikes are crazy expensive😉

That is from the record that also did it in 1:05. So my time will be at the same position after being processed by Strava😉

Thank you! I might consider that when I will get a new TT bike in the future. This Giant Trinty is already from 2015 so I don’t want to spend too much improving this one (;

@@FlyingGravelMan Depends on who you ask, but loads of KOMs are scored on group rides. I mean its easier to hold 40+ in a pack than on your own. I don't consider it cheating. Its part of the sport.

@@user-sp7rx2qk9v , I have given it a thought as well, as I have seen that many KOM's are achieved in group rides or with at least one other rider as a lead-out. But by doing so would make the videos maybe slightly less interesting to watch. Thank you for sharing your thoughts anyway!
