Great stuff man!, nice to see an update of these things. I really hope we get a genuine SHMA Showa Ghirdorah this year ! I'm not sure about the anniversary year connection being all that significant.... Though these Showa Ghidorah figures did disappear from the market for a while after the initial first wave in 2019, they actually did return years ago, and have been somewhat consistently available on AliExpress since (though their availability is rather "on and off", and granted, you had to get lucky or know where to look... but they didn't just come back all that recently ) Interesting point about the Yuji Sakai Ghidorah kit! If I'm remembering correctly, I may have been one of, if not, the first to have pointed out the Sakai kit as the likely source of this figures sculpt. and on that note, from my perspective, It was always self evident that whoever engineered the articulation of this figure did it skilfully and not just haphazardly cut up the sculpt of Sakai's kit... I honestly always leaned more to believing that it was a leaked and/or stolen SHMA prototype rather than a complete 3rd party figure... though even if it was made by a genuine 3rd party, there's no reason why they couldn't have still used and re-tooled Saki's Ghidorah sculpt... it being done skilfully isn't that hard to believe these days after seeing how well made some 3D printed 3rd party figures are by other members of the Godzilla fandom. (On that note, is 9-Modelism really RIP? I heard rumours since he stopped posting, but damn that's awful if that's true....) Who knows though. I remember back when I looked over it, the sculpt (allowing for re-tooling details for the articulation) seemed to match pretty one-to-one for me, but I haven't re-checked in literal years so I could be wrong... I'm honestly not convinced there ever was a genuine 2019 Ghidorah SHMA bootleg figure on the market.... I've looked into it quite deeply, and I'm pretty certain that was just a rumour spread around by confusion with this Showa figure being sold and advertised as the 2019 Ghidorah.... I also admin and creator of the "Bootleg / Counterfeit Godzilla kits and figures group" on Facebook, so I've been pretty extensively involved in the world of researching these bootlegs, especially back in 2019-2020...
Yes, they stayed on the market for a bit, but then as I said they basically disappeared to only a few listings here and there. This figure JUST so happened to explode back on the usual sites RIGHT when we have an anniversary. It's correlation, not causation. (Maybe they got the mold on their hands again? Because it's finally getting made?)

Mine from 2020 is sitting on the shelf next to me missing 7 wing claws and 2 jaws (only the middle head has its jaw) I actually didn't have to pay for it because it came late for more than half a year. I guess it's only fair it ends up being damaged (literally my fault for putting it up in the shelf so high with the wings and jaws falling off lol)
Back in fall of 2022, I ordered this from China but after weeks of waiting, it was delivered in Hawaii but the problem here was that I lived in Texas and I’m not sure what even happened or why the figure was delivered in Hawaii. Eventually, I got my refund back and I was able to buy the same figure but from a US seller that costed a lot more than the figure usually is where it was like $200 or something but I managed to buy it with an offer that I sent to them.
I have thought this may have been an official Showa Ghidorah that was made but not put into production for some reason. Maybe a rights issue, maybe a cost issue, who knows. But I think these are not third party designs, I think these are bootlegs of a planned but unmade official figure.
I had this figure but it was so broken when it arrived. It doesn’t help that I dropped it and it basically exploded. All I have left to prove I had it is one photo and it’s jaw is somewhere in my room
@@GojiraFan-in9oo Yeah, it was displayed upright and fell to make it look like he was crouching, but at least the sculpt of that and this bootleg had care put into it, unlike *S H I M O*
