Hey all, I've now tested the new iPad Pros M4 and iPad Airs M2 and share my experience in the newest video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XTupw09T6CA.html
I just started considering buying an iPad like yesterday so this video is right on point! I like how you go into details and all. My eyes were on the air but I am someone needing a lot of storage (no videos but a lot of reference images, I can fill a 100 go in a few weeks 😅)) ... I also loved that you answered the question of "if an air with a bigger storage has a closer price to a pro why not directly take the pro" haha. I am going to consider the 11, I might need to save for longer than I planned but if I get something I am happy with it's worth. I wouldn't want to invest in an air only to realize it's not it. thank you for this video, it was very detailed and interesting. It answered a lot of questions and took a lot of things in consideration!
This was really helpful, I was going back and forth between the air 5 and 11’ipad pro. You rlly helped me out because I rlly need at least 256gb or more of storage, so at that point I’d just go for the pro with the m2 chip, which will be supported by ipad os longer
Thank you for this so enlightening video! After I saw your tips, I got myself an i-pad generation 10 and the Apple pencil 1. So far I have being so crazy about it! I don't believe it has taken me so long to decide and I haven't bought it earlier when I was trying to draw with photoshop and wacom tablet...Thank you for all the useful information you made it clear to me what was enough for my needs as a beginner !
Hi Angie! I'm so glad my video helped you! It's awesome that you got the iPad 10 - it's perfect for the beginners. I'm thrilled you're enjoying it. Have fun creating, and feel free to share your progress anytime! 😊 As a beginner, you might also be interested in my Procreate classes and tutorials - you can explore them in my Art Club - club.artsideoflife.com/
Glad it was helpful! Thank you 😊 If you are starting out you may enjoy my Procreate classes and brushes. You can explore them on my website: artsideoflife.com/procreate/
Thanks for sharing your suggestions for iPads. It's really helpful to see each iPad next to each other to get a comparison for the various sized screens. I think I'm leaning towards a refurbished 11" Pro Gen3 or Gen4 with 256 GB.
great video. I am trying to use it mainly for drawing and note taking. For drawing (which will be my main use)I do want to have the ability to lay my hand on the screen and focus on detail as well. I feel that normally i prefer bigger sizes thought. Would you recommend the Air, or Pro. At the end, I am a beginner ,and while I learn quickly, I have never use procrate before. Thanks so much for the feedback!
Go with what you can afford. I have the air and it works great for drawing. I'm used to screen of 12 to 16" in graphic tablet, so an 11" screen is a bit small for my own taste. I'd get a drawing glove to avoid having your hand sticking on the screen and to make it move around more easily. There's palm rejection in procreate as well. It's automatically set, so you don't have to work on that. I've been drawing on computer for a while now and a lot of programs have brushes, layers, a colour wheel and a selection tool. Though, I don't really like the hand selection tool in Procreate very much.
Hey Keri, when I am looking to buy 2nd hand, I always look at renewed/refurbished stores from reputable retailers. For example I found these great offers for iPad Pro 12.9 with M2 chip amzn.to/3YAeppo; iPad Pro 11 amzn.to/3QHkAGr; iPad Air 5 amzn.to/45sKd1Y and iPad Air 4 amzn.to/3KHGkhM. Warm wishes
Nice video . I’m new to digital art . I want to buy a iPad . I’m between iPad mini 6 or iPad Air . Bcs I want the pencil 2 . Im interested also for the new procreate dreams …I like the portability of mini but I’m afraid of that 4 gb ram ….. what is your opinion ? 😊
If you are just starting out, iPad Mini 6 should be sufficient. You could always upgrade later once you turn your art into career. Enjoy your art journey 😊
Hey there, I’ve just published a new blog post about Procreate Dreams compatibility with iPads. It might help artsideoflife.com/procreate-dreams-compatibility/
Hello I'm about to purchase an iPad for the first time. I'm going to be using Procreate for t-shirt designs and a lot of art. I will also be using it for editing dance videos, and using the I pad for study. What would you recommend? X
Hello, those are great creative projects! Please use my helpful quiz to find your ideal iPad - you will find it on my website artsideoflife.com/best-ipad-for-procreate/ Enjoy!!
Really great comprehensive video I really appreciate all the thoughts that went to it. My budget is personally like ipad air but 256gb but tbh I'm gonna wait since it's kinda rumored that ipad air 6 might release this nov or october and some are saying it might have 90 hrtz refresh rate and hopefully the hover feature with m2 chip what do u personally think do u think I should wait? I'd love to get pro 11 gen but the 128 gb isn't enough I'm scared I might run from storage and my budget can't afford the ipad pro 11 gen 256 gb so yeah!
Glad I could help! I’ve used Adobe Illustrator app on my iPad Pro and drawing was very smooth. When you check the latest requirements I can see they support iPadOS 14+ and recommend Apple pencil 2, so I recommend any of the iPad Pro and iPad Air if you want to have enjoyable experience using Illustrator on your iPad. Or iPad Mini 6 if you need portable iPad. Best wishes
Hi, Miss Iva. I just have a question as I have never had an ipad but I am planning to buy one in the future. My question is about the number of layers in procreate, for example, an ipad 10th gen allows 55 layers, is that 55 layers can only be used for one artwork or 55 layers per artwork? I hope you get my question. English is not my first language so I hope you understand^^
Hi! It’s always number of layers per Procreate canvas. Number of layers depend on your canvas size and the iPad you use (mostly its RAM and other factors) Have fun with iPad and Procreate 😊 Find out more about Procreate layers on my website artsideoflife.com/procreate-layer-limit/
Hey, that's helpful. I need your help deciding which iPad to get. I am going to start my brand (apparel) For that I want to design my own custom fabrics. I do have a laptop, I use photoshop cc 2017 but for the motifs I use a phone app called ibis. I don't have an iPad And recently I am thinking I might need one. (I am a fashion designer. I more like do designing garments and all. Never got to do textile patterns, but I learned the basic of basics in college After that I have never designed textile patterns. But now as I said I want to design custom fabrics for my brand.) And I would not change the iPad soon what I mean is I am looking for something I would use for years and years. I am also someone who needs a lot of storage. So, can you suggest to me what to do? honestly, I have no idea what to do.
Hey Haymur, glad the video was helpful. If you are buying for your business definitely get Pro. The new 13” Pro will last you many years. Alternatively get the 12.9” from 2022. Compare on my website artsideoflife.com/ipad-pro-11-vs-12-9-for-drawing-procreate-artists/
Yes, if you are a beginner it should be fine. You can always use external storage like I wrote about on my website artsideoflife.com/external-hard-drive-for-procreate/
Hello, Im an HR professional & I normally read research papers & HR books & make my notes. Also, I am very fond of drawing and painting & I wish to learn digital painting using procreate (as a beginner). Can you please recommend which ipad to invest in?
Depending on your budget I’d say iPad 10 or iPad Air 5. Both should last you some time. 😊 If you are starting out you may enjoy my Procreate classes and brushes. You can explore them on my website: artsideoflife.com/procreate/
The iPad 10thgen and it's 2gen pencil can explore all possibility of procreate? I'm a beginner. I would like to invest in something right to my level. Considering the prices.
Hey Marsel, iPad 10 supports Apple Pencil 1, not 2, and yes, it's a budget-friendly model for Procreate, so it's awesome for beginners. You may also enjoy my classes and tutorials for Procreate club.artsideoflife.com/online-classes
@artsideoflife thanks for the answer. Your video show me a new perspective. But a doubt appeared: The gen 1 pencil can create any limitation on the work? Thank you very much!!
No, I've used Apple Pencil for years before upgrading and it didn't create any limitation on my artworks. The only thing is that holding Apple Pencil 2 is easier on the fingers when you draw for a long time. Made a bunch of content about iPads and Procreate - explore on my website - artsideoflife.com/apple-pencil-2-vs-apple-pencil-1-for-procreate/ Enjoy!
Hello, I am planning to buy an IPad for my daughter who is 14 years now and she is interested in drawing and digital painting. She is beginner in drawing using IPad and not familiar with Procreate. She paints well on canvas. Which model will you suggest? I don't wanna go to IPad Pro model as it's above my budget.
Hi there. If she is new to digital art and you guys don’t know if she sticks with it, I’d go for iPad 10 and if you have bigger budget then Air 5. You can read more about both on my website: artsideoflife.com/procreate/procreate-equipment/
Hi, im a art student majoring in animation and visual effects. Do you think that the ipad air can be used for 3d rendering or do you recommend somwthing else ?
I’m a graphic designer which one should I get ? I have the iPad Pro 12.9 3rd generation but I’ve had it for a few years now and the battery is dying, it has been lagging a lot lately and crashing while I work Which iPad would you recommend I upgrade to ? I’m also on a budget
If you already had iPad Pro 12.9 it might be hard to get used to anything smaller, but if you are on a budget then you could try iPad Air ... compare on my website: artsideoflife.com/ipad-pro-vs-ipad-air-for-procreate/
Hi Iva. This talk was very good. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with this. Do you believe that storage space affects how well the procreate app works?
Hi Bella. Glad it is helpful ❤️ The storage is important if you work with big canvas files and too many layers - then your files may become too big and fill your storage fast. And then, if you decide to animate your illustration in Procreate Dreams (like in my latest animation ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2CazLXOG_Zo.html ), the Dreams files are quite big and they can fill up your storage fast, too. My post on external hard drives to expand your storage may also be helpful artsideoflife.com/external-hard-drive-for-procreate/
@artsideoflife thank you! I bought the iPad last week based off your recommendations and talking to my husband. I'm so excited and I'm glad I found your channel 💓
Hello, i know nothing about Apple products but im looking for a good drawing tablet! Im not a professional artist, more of a hobbiest whos looking to learn. Theres two options ive been stuck on Air 4 or Ipad 10? Which one do you think will be the best one for me?
iPad Air 4 is great bcs it supports Apple Pencil 2 and it should last you long time ❤️ If you are looking to learn you may enjoy my classes on my website artsideoflife.com/procreate/procreate-classes/ Enjoy your art journey 🤗
Hey I am planing to learn fashion illustration so can me help me, which iPad to choice iPad 5 generation air or 10 generation. It will be very helpful thank you
iPad Air 5 comes with better technology and supports Apple Pencil 2 so if your budget allows for it I recommend that one for fashion illustration. More details on my website artsideoflife.com/ipad-air-for-procreate-drawing-and-artists/
Thank you very much for the information in this video, but I have a question, I am an experienced artist (let's say I work with art, but my budget is very tight) and I have been using Android tablets for years and recently I had the doubt of using an iPad, since all the artists I asked say that the iPad is infinitely better, so would it be worth buying an iPad 10th generation or an Air 5th, both with 64 GB? My current tablet has 64 GB and is simply working fine, I really have doubts since I've never had an Apple device and unfortunately I don't know anyone with a device or stores to test it in so I would like some recommendations. sorry for the bad english, english is not my first language
Hi there, no worries, your English is great! Quick question - is there anything wrong with your current Android tablet - is it broken, is it slow, etc.? Bcs if you are happy with it and there is nothing wrong, why change? Now if you want to use Procreate, and you have limited budget, iPad 10 will work great ... and if you are happy with 64GB on your current tablet, then go for it!
@@artsideoflife Well, my current tablet is a 2020 Tab S6 Lite and it works well, if you don't count the side opening (I found out that it could be the glue or the battery), and the applications closing with a chance of corrupting the files (unfortunately I've already lost work like that), it's a great tablet but these details are making me very worried, so I thought about buying an iPad but people say that the iPad 10th wouldn't be good because of the non-laminated screen (the Tab S6 Lite has a laminated screen) so I'm a little afraid to buy it, Is the non-laminated screen really that bad?
For me it is im now using a xiaomi red me 9 and im improving with drawing and i noticed it holding me down as im Busy creating my own story o im need to write draw and animate on it a lot as it need a lot of storage the amount of money dossend mater if it means that nothing is holding me down with ipad would you recommend for this cause i think the last one would be the most logic for it but still i still wonder what you would recommend with great greatings veerle
If you are not constrained by budget and you want the best for art and animation go for iPad Pro 12.9 or iPad Pro 11 if you want smaller size. Enjoy!!☺️
@@artsideoflife i came on the iPad 10 and 11 but i dont think that enough cause i Making a story out of 2d animation as im beginning from level 0 as i need to work to level 100
I'm thinking of buying 10th generation 64GB, only for Procreate use. I was wondering if anyone knows if procreate gets all the updates regardless of the model.
Yes, Procreate gets all the updates regardless of the models. Any app updates depend on your iPadOS. iPad 10 is a newer model so it should be supported by iPadOS updates for some years. Enjoy!!
Is Ipad air 4 still good for making an animation approximately 10s to 20s to be posted on Tiktok. I am sitting on the fence since I have to separate my budget on Ps5 too 🤣
Yes iPad Air 4 should handle smaller animation tasks pretty easily. Btw, Procreate Dreams is coming next Wednesday and it should work great with iPad Air 4. Find more info on my website artsideoflife.com/procreate-dreams-animation-app/
Hey there, I’ve just published a new blog post about Procreate Dreams compatibility with iPads. It might help artsideoflife.com/procreate-dreams-compatibility/
Yes, if you won't work with huge 4K files, iPad Air should be able to handle smaller animation tasks. There is a lot that goes into it - such as animation app you plan to use, number of layers/tracks you will use, etc. iPad Air 4 is a pretty solid iPad but it does have its limitations. Best wishes
Hello i hope u r doing great I also want to buy a tablet earlier i decided to go for samsung s9 ultra tablet but only thing it lacks is procreate which is confusing me so much ... Suggest m an ipad in which i can do almost everything like coding, design, website, drawing, illustrate, notes etc.... Samsung has bigger screen which is a plus also its open to almost all apps but with ipad i heard that coding will not work smoothly... Its just the app procreate which has confused me 😭 Pls help
If your budget allowed for S9 ultra, then you can go for iPad Pro 12.9" with M2 chip, for example this one amzn.to/3YOXpfk You should be able to finde some coding apps or install a remote environment. If you decide to keep the S9, then here are some good Procreate alternatives for Android platform artsideoflife.com/procreate-android-alternative/ Warm wishes
That depends on your budget but I'd say iPad Air is a great middle ground. See details on my website: artsideoflife.com/ipad-air-for-procreate-drawing-and-artists/
I don't recommend it for Procreate. It will technically work but gen 7 may get discontinued from iPadOS software updates. Find more in my post artsideoflife.com/what-ipad-works-with-procreate/
Hi Miss Iva , I really like your style and niche of drawing.I'm quite skeptical regarding choosing the right ipad for me. I'm an animating student and thought to get the ipad pro 11 inch with 256 GB storage will it be enough and I can't afford to buy something at a higher price point than this so will it work on a long run for me?
Absolutely, the iPad Pro is a great choice for animation, offering powerful performance and a great display. While 256GB is a good starting point, the animation projects could quickly eat up space. If you're tight on budget, external storage is a good workaround. I've covered some affordable external storage options on my website, which you might find helpful. Check it out here: artsideoflife.com/external-hard-drive-for-procreate/
Which ipad would be better for an artistic use between the Ipad pro 12.9 3e gen (2018) and the ipad 10.9 (2022) 10gen. I can't decide between these two, i have a limited budget and i honestly don't know if i really need a big screen size?
iPad Pro 12.9 3rd gen bcs it has much better screen and supports Apple Pencil 2. But be aware that as it's 5 yo model the iPadOS support might be dropped at some point. I'd suggest you get 4th gen or iPad Air 4th generation.
iPad Pro models are Apples flagship models so always have better tech than the others. Between those two, I recommend iPad Pro 11 3rd gen. More info about which ipads work with Procreate I made a helpful post on my website artsideoflife.com/what-ipad-works-with-procreate/
Thanks for that video! based on it, i bought the ipad air 2022 64gb and don't regret it, since i'm painting only in procreate and store the finished stuff elsewhere. pro: my bankaccount cries not that much & i've got it in a christmas sale this month. i drew in the past on a surface 128gb and did not manage it to fill all the diskspace with apps and data up. hope that helps for someone who is short on a budget too.
After looking at my iPad I realized I don’t need a lot of storage cause my iPad has 32gb and for 11 years of using it I’ve only used 26gb so I think I’m gonna buy iPad 10 64gb
Sounds good, but if you want to try Procreate Dreams 64GB will be too limiting. See more details on my website artsideoflife.com/best-ipad-for-procreate-dreams/
Hi! I am a young artist who is looking into buying my first I pad to learn how to draw and animate! This video was very helpful on how to do that, but I really do want your opinion because I don’t really know much about apple products despite having an I phone. 😅 I’m going to use the I pad for procreate, RU-vid, and minimal reference photos. I’m not all too worried about the portability or the type of Apple Pencil ( I don’t know if I should be 🥲). My biggest concern is the storage of the i pad, will it fit all of my criteria? I don’t want something TOO expensive because I don’t have a lot of money, so I maybe thinking generation 10 with 64GB? (This is what’s in my current budget) As I said before, I am new to digital drawing and would really like to know your thoughts! Do you think I should save for the gen 10? Or am I too picky and will have to get something else that fits my usage of the I pad? Great video, thanks for providing this useful information to beginners like me! ❤❤ -Thank you 🎉
Hey there, if you are a beginner and you have limited budget, the iPad 10 with 64GB is a great option. It should last you for some years and by then you will know if you want to take art professionaly and invest in better models. Btw, if you want to learn Procreate, you may enjoy my classes and brushes. You can find them on my website artsideoflife.com/procreate/
This was helpful, but i have a few questions. We are kind of on a budget and were looking at the Ipad pro 12.9 inch, and it was wayyyyy to much money. We then found the Ipad 10th generation. I am a budding artist and i've always wanted procreate. The Ipad 10th generation is a good price for us, but i've heard it doesnt run procreate as smoothly. It also doesn't support the second gen apple pencil. Would the ipad 10th generation still be good without the newest pencil (if that even matters) or do you have advice about a different ipad that would run better entirely? Thanks for the video! It helped me narrow down choices :)
I havent noticed any performance issue with Procreate on iPad 10. If you are just starting out, it’s a great choice despite using “only” Apple Pencil 1
Yes, as a beginner iPad 9 or iPad 10 are great for drawing and Procreate. More details on my website artsideoflife.com/ipad-10-for-procreate-drawing-and-artists/
Thank you so much for this precious information. I will most probably buy a 10th generation iPad to use with Procreate. What Apple Pencil type would be best for drawing (I plan on creating watercolour type art (ex: flowers with many details) but also other types of drawings. Thank you !!!
Glad I could help 😊 iPad 10 only works with Apple Pencil 1. Also have a look at iPad Air 5 bcs it works with Apple Pencil 2. If you plan to make watercolor art, you might enjoy my watercolor Procreate brushes. You can explore them on my website: artsideoflife.com/watercolor-procreate-brush-set/
Yes, exactly. I created bunch of custom-made Procreate brushes - sketching, gouache, watercolors, etc. and watercolor and sketchbook papers. You can explore them on my website or here in RU-vid videos. Best wishes
Hi, I just bought ipad pro 11" M2 and I'm using procreate. Is it normal for the ipad getting heat while drawing? Im not saying it's overly heat but it quite warm compared to casual using and it makes me a lil bit uncomfortable 😂 is it a normal thing? I usually draw at 4000x3000 300 dpi
Hello😊 Thank you for providing a great informative video. I am just getting into illustration and got an an iPad 10th generation 64g for a birthday present🤗… I also got a usb c Apple Pencil. So excited! My questions - Is 64g adequate for illustrating a picture book or do I need more storage? 🌻
Hey Helene, that sounds great! You will have a lot of fun illustrating 😊 Yes, 64GB is plenty if you are just a beginner and if you don’t plan storing a lot of videos on your iPad. I have a lot of videos and helpful articles about Procreate which may be helpful to you. You will find all on my website: artsideoflife.com/procreate/
This is really insightful for someone like me who’s contemplating getting an ipad to learn procreate. I didn’t know which model of iPad should I get. Now, I have options in mind. Thank you.
Hi, thanks for this video. I found it very helpful. On this video @7.58 you brushed the pen over a flower painting and it coloured it in. Like magic! I have never seen anything like this before. What is this technique called? Many thanks.
Glad it was helpful. That is called art reveal and I have a Procreate class about it if you are interested see more details on my website artsideoflife.com/art-reveal-in-procreate/ 😊
Can ipad gen 10 produce high quality prints if I make graphics using gen 10? Or should I go with air or pro?Because Im buying ipad for my Tshirt printing business I want to make my designs on an ipad
Hey JK, that doesn’t depend on the iPad but rather on the Procreate canvas size, resolution and especially printer you use. I have bunch of posts about printers for art incl heat transfers on my website artsideoflife.com/printing-art/
Really thank you so much sis . Im new to use i pad . And didn't know which one to purchase.... But now i have decided..... Tq so much for such a detailed and informative video😊
Hi Ana, thanks for watching. I have posts about all the iPads for Procreate on my website. Here is the one about iPad 10 artsideoflife.com/ipad-10-for-procreate-drawing-and-artists/ Enjoy!
Hi. Nice video. I need to buy an iPad to my 17 yo daughter. She wants to start using Procreate and start digital drawing. I live in Uruguay so apple stuff is expensive. I'm between iPad 10 and iPad air. 64 gb But air is 300 dlrs more expensive here. What do you suggest? Is buying air worth it in my case ? Ty 🙏🏻
If you have limited budget and your daughter is a beginner, I'd go for iPad 10. She can always upgrade later on. You are welcome to use my helpful quiz to help you further. You will find it on my website artsideoflife.com/best-ipad-for-procreate/ ... Your daugher may also enjoy my Procreate classes and brushes - artsideoflife.com/procreate/
Yes, definitely! If you illustrate in Procreate, depending on the canvas size, you will be limited by # of layers, but you can always go around it creatively as I described on my website artsideoflife.com/procreate-layer-limit/
Oh so the canvas size dictates the amount of layers? I'm planning to get an Ipad / Pro Create to drawing, but I never use a Ipad, I have just a Android Tablet with Ibis Paint and never see such a limitation, but I don't use canvas size that big so I don't know if could be a problem, usually I use sizes like ~3000x3000 300dpi or ~2000x2000, I think will not be a problem but I don't know, oh and I'm trying to get the Ipad Pro 11" M1 or the Air 5 M1
I’d go for iPad Air bcs of the better display, RAM and Apple Pencil 2. Depending in your storage needs I made a post about external storage for iPad and Procreate artsideoflife.com/external-hard-drive-for-procreate/
Thank you so much your videos inspire me! ❤ I want to know the best iPad for editing, art and animation videos but confused to choose an iPad, can you please suggest iPads?
This was so helpful, i love and appritate all the thought put into this video, but i had a bit trouble watc thing through it all. I'm doing research to get an iPad tablet and apple pencil for my sister as a Christmas gift. Shes graduating highschool soon and she really wants to do art commissions and draw for herself on an iPad. but she cant afford it, if by any chance you could let me know which ones the best for this specific use i would really appreciate it.
I would go for iPad Air 5 which uses Apple Pencil 2 - that should last her for quite some time. If she is starting out she may enjoy my classes: artsideoflife.com/links/
