On the last match I believe you missed lethal, if you played cursebound witch and then meathooked for -4/-4 you would have gotten 1 additional trigger since the meathook trigger on your creature would of hit. Since meathook does 1 dmg from your creatures dying. 51:00 No hate, love the content

Yep, he did. If he plays the witch then goes for -4/-4 he has exactly 10 damage. In those kind of matches you don't just drain life points, you drain brain cells. Usually just a war of attrition where one player eventually top decks a couple extra relevant cards after going through 35 cards of their decks.

Nope. That wouldn't have been lethal. Doing the -4 -4 means you lose the blood artist trigger from Tergrid dying. Tergrid stays alive so you are minus 1 life point drain, plus 1 life point drain casting the witch, and still do not have lethal.

@@JeffMac2012 You lose 1 damage because Tergrid stays alive. You got that right. But you deal 2 damage when the witch dies, 1 from the blood artist trigger and 1 from the meathook. 9 - 1 + 2 = 10. thats lethal.

Alchemy: I was excited to see how this would work and my first impression is that even though they nerfed overpowered cards, they just added a bunch more. I don't see how this is solving anything. Geist Channeller, Tenacious Pup, Key to the Archive, Cursebound Witch, Fearsome Whelp, Unexpected Conversion...some of the new cards/archetypes are more powerful than the ones they were supposed to fix. Maybe it's too early to tell, wait and see....

This format is for this exactly. They no longer have to test cards (a lot of logistics saved). They can just nerf them after. It is literally just that. I think we are going to get ALOT of broken cards in the future.

@@Kuryux Plenty of broken cards. Anything than can let you cast a Hullbreaker for 5 or a Divide By Zero for 1 is broken. Blue didn't need insane new tools like that.

great video, just one thing to note, the fact you get 3 copies of a card in consecutive draws is the best example of the shuffler working correctly. If you would always get evenly distributed spells and lands then you know for a fact it wasn't random and the shuffler is wrong.

@@SpeakerWiggin49 but that is exactly how randomness works, things that are VERY UNLIKELY will happen, especially when you play hundreds of times with mulligans in between. The thing is, if it wasn't randomized then they would definitely prevent things like 4 lands in a row or three copies of the same card, that would be the point of not making it random, but because it happen you can tell it is actually quite random.

The Alchemy draft mechanic was the best thing the format could do. It retroactively justifies the existence of a lot of fun-but-not-quite-good-enough cards. I still don't like opening them in packs all the time, but maybe we'll them shifted to Alchemy packs instead of main sets now.

As a white/blue Mage, I’ve started playing with 3 copies of the new purge (which removes their tokens including blood tokens and spiders, and messes with all their creatures without killing any of them) and gone back to 2 devastating masteries. I’ve found wiping their board away to be very satisfying.

Draft is better. It's not entirely random in that it lets you select from 3 options, whereas a die roll doesn't. In a strictly competitive game you may not even want any draft RNG at all as well.

I'm running a Rakdos version of this, using Tibalt instead of Lolth, and Anje for additional blood token value. Still tinkering with it, I suggest anyone out there to take a look at Citystalker Connos..uier? >_> great card to disrupt your opponents, makes blood. Been a powerhouse Edit: eyyyy its played in the game with tergrid! Sick.

You missed lethal on that last match. If you would have played the witch first then hooked for 4 Tirgird would live so one less damage from blood artist, but witch would die so that is the one damage back but also meathook would have triggered as well doing the extra 1 damage you needed.

Your complaints about this deck are exactly why I didn't play cat oven, but still used oven, in Orzhov sac back when Rakdos sac was the flavor of the week. Sorry, been playing Orzhov since mirage and nobody is going to change that.

👍👍👍 This sort of content - now that Alchemy has introduced such uncertainty - is greatly needed. CGB would simply be making a comparison of power level betw new cards and banned cards. There are only a few creators whose skill and experience would lend credence to any such commentary…

Ah cat/oven. Horrible as a central mechanic imo but i like the chance that you might end up seeing it if you get lucky in the drafts. I had someone play cat oven against me in Alchemy recently, I was playing angels and got lucky that I had Liesa so they accidentally exiled the cat
