I've been watching neonails forever, but when 2020 hit I wasn't able to find any videos and work was just so busy I didn't have time to look for it. I found this channel yesterday and I've been watching it nonstop. I missed this
I sound like a total nerd but I get so emotional everytime I watch your videos because your truly my idol! And I aspire to be just as amazing as you are some day God willing. Sending you so much love and light all the way from SOUTHER AFRICA CAPE TOWN. I pray I get to meet you someday God willing.
Glad to see some Acrygel or in U.S. Polygel tutorials! I can’t do a lot of acrylic with the smell in my house so I am working more with polygel and wanting to do more gel. Love the simple look. For this set.
@@abigailxmary I think acrygel is the name of the product, as it's something that gets quite hard, sturdy like acrylic but is in a gel before curing. So properties of both, hence the name. Polygel is a brand, a big and famous name in some countries, so lots of people call it that.
I've been watching your videos for a couple years. You've inspired me to start tinkering with doing my own. I love watching you use your left hand. Using my left is tough, but I'm getting better! Thanks for posting these videos!
You’ve got daughters, Kirstie, they can tie your skates and wrangle the football gear if you keep your nails long! This video is full of useful tips for working with one’s nondominant hand!!!
Kirsty! Super videoooo! Love the color❤❤❤ When you haven't the low set in your lamp you can actually turn it on and put your hand in the light coming out of the lamp but not inside... just right in the opening but not inside.. the gel will start curing slower, after about 15/20 seconds you start getting closer until you are inside the lamp, hope could help someone✌🏻✌🏻
I used to watch all your videos back when you worked for Naio Nails! I wondered where you went after covid times and I had no idea you had your own account lmao you've been hiding here the whole time! Suffice to say I've been binging your videos from this channel! Glad to see you're doing well love the content and the humour as always :)
The glitter has nothing to do with it. It's the amount of product. I use acrygel all the time, but mostly with a base coat, and I noticed that it burns more when you use a thicker layer of basecoat or no base, just a thick layer of acrygel, that's always thick because you need to create an apex and some thickness for strength. Uv curing is a exothermic reaction, meaning that for it to go from fluid to hard, it emits heat, so the more product, the more heat. I also usually use clear on myself, as I like to see the colour through the nail on the underside. It burns just the same, no matter the color or glitter.
I’m gathering that a simple way to explain choosing grits for a your custom file board might be: one side should be your shaper, and the other should be your smoother.
I'm ambidextrous and do my own nails(with a hand file & $6 acrylic from dollar general only), I actually learned a lot from you but I would love to have you do my nails. I would let you do anything you want any length, design, etc.
I didn't start out ambidextrous but 30+ years of being a nail tech and doing my own nails weekly, it was just a natural progression. I guess it doesn't happen to everyone so I feel lucky that I can use both hands for everything, even writing.
@@dawndelosmuertos4025 I started left handed and when I broke my left wrist in 3rd grade (when I fell from the monkey bars) I had to learn to write with my right so I became ambidextrous since. I mostly use my right hand though being that I got so used to it but being able use of my left equally sure comes in handy sometimes like doing my nails for example
the time when the heat spike comes is actually a good guide for when to pinch gel, obviously u don’t want to wait for the heat spike before u take it out to pinch, but if u notice how many seconds u get before the heat spike then u can take it out right before and pinch the nail
I love love love your channel and how amazing you are at your craft 😁 I was just wondering why you have been using tips lately instead of the forms? I only ask because I just remember watching you say how you find forms to actually be faster and easier to use than tips? I dont even know why but I miss the forms lol Yet, like always your designs are still gorgeous, whether you use tips or forms..... You could make stunning nails out of mud and cardboard. Thank you for all of your joy!!!!
Kirstie!! I love long nails!! I started short and they got longer with time and it helped me get use to long nails slowly cause every set was slightly longer
I use these gels they are way better that the gels in the tubes I love how they don’t move giving you more time to sculpt a beautiful nail, they are good with the paper forms too, love the shade of this one your using it’s so beautiful, thank you for sharing Kirsty, always a pleasure visiting your channel dear have a wonderful Sunday🌷🌹🌷
here in Canada we are still in lockdown and Stay at Home order. Hoping June 2 we can come out of stay at home order and June 20 we hope salons will be open again. I've been learning to do hard gel on myself and have done four sets. Getting better and thank for your tutorials and the entertainment. Love watching you have fun.
I heard with gel to put it into lamp about 7 to 10 seconds, then take it out for a few seconds and put back in the lamp. It does work pretty well for the heat spike. Love that sparkly color too.🤗💗Love you Kirst and Adam. I live for your videos. You are so very amazing! And thank you for showing how to file the dominant thumb. That is sooo difficult.🤣🤣🤣🤣
That color is gorgeous! You do really good using your non dominant hand! Mine when it was done would look like how yours did when you globbed the product on! 🤣🤣 I love your other hand also that design is so cool. I hope you have a video coming up for that 😊
You should invent some brushes that don't roll around, that's my pet hate, putting your brush down and it rolling usually off the table. I do have a candle holder I use as a dampen dish which has a curved top so can put your brush on that between uses, but I only use it for acrylics. I know there's holders out there but why not have an actual set of brushes that don't roll. ie either square or something on the handle to stop it rolling. Love that colour
Thanks so much for doing this. I only do my own gel and I have only used the hard gel that moves. I am scared to try acrylic. I have an acrylic set but am scared to attempt it. I love all ur videos!!! You are a nail goddess! The best!!
If you get a heat spike, just press your thumb/finger tips downwards, the heat spikes are because the product cures to the nail and stiffens, so it creates a pulling sensation on your nailbed. Just push down into your tips and it will disappear :)
Okay Adams saying it correctly the wow and bao sound the same. It was killing me so I looked up the pronunciation. Lol not everyone can wear 2 inch nails because we all have to use our hands😊
never subscribed to naio nails but i’m definitely willing to subscribe to kirsty (for clarification i never even knew naio nails existed with the original lady so it’s not because of her. more because i didn’t like that kirsty was less of a owner and more of a public figurehead) im just confortavke committing knowing it’s all her (and her team or cameraman but still her decisions who helps)
@kirstymeakin if you ever do a follow-up, I'd love just a tutorial of doing gel or lacquer on non dominant hand--If you ever do soft gel extensions, that would rock too.
I can definitely tell tge difference between acrylic techs using gel and gel techs using gel. The process of manipulation is different between acrylic and gel (even polygel). Pretty sparkle. I'm not a fan of that shade of nail bed colour: but to each their own.
I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to see you showcasing not only your own brand, but so many others, as well! I do have a question, though...I’ve invested a small fortune in a particular, unnamed brand that is somewhat understandably missing from your current lineup. Should I chuck it in the bin? Or is it worth using up? I’ve also noticed models we haven’t seen you work with in ages suddenly reappear, which is what prompted my question of, “Is the missing brand rubbish?” I’m not looking for any info other than bin it or keep it. Please help?
We’d never slag off a certain brands products. If you like it then use it all. You definitely won't se that product on this channel though. There are Better products out there, produced by people who actually use them.
Kirst- try using a thinner base gel as the nail liquid/ slip solution; I really like it. Not every brand is the best fit for that but the soft hybrid materials are best and that looks perfect 👌 for it! You can get the surface so much smoother your filing will be cut in half. Loved your nails as always!!!
I use a medium or coarse sanding band to remove gel on my Right hand, because they work in forward or reverse. Also, what ROGUEROUGE said, just file off 80-90%, then soak, which should quickly remove the thin layer of gel.
I'm left handed but use my right hand for various activities such as using scissors and so on. I'm surpsingly good at my non dominant hand! I think even more so than my left hand! Surprised me lol
Hey kirsty. Thanks for a gel video!! ❤ with cuticle bits... are ceramic bits any good and as effective? I see u use metal bits for cuticle and ceramic for shaping etc..and also how often should you replace your bits? xx
Cuticle care bits are typically diamond bits. Not sure if it's even possible to get appropriate bits out of ceramic. I've never seen ceramic bits that would have been safe to use on the natural nail, they're always meant to file product. If you want to learn about dry manicure I highly recommend the webinar from Nailcou and The Nailhub, both have very in depth videos here on RU-vid. Let's hope Kirsty makes an in depth video about it eventually!
@@SusanIvanova2257 thank you for your reply. I am a fully qualified tech, but they didn't teach us about using e files or bits. I use an e file only to debulk nail enhancements, not for prep. I've seen ceramic ball bits or sale on salon sites which i assume is for the cuticle area..? That was why I asked..
