It's hard to create and make decisions when you're always depressed. That's why i left the sims 4 for the sims 2, they inherit a mix of personality of their parents, so you're basically learning about them instead of making decisions, (except of aspiration, but even that i use calculations to decide for me) also i do a wants-based gameplay, so that helps too. I also have rules for choosing their look. So, yeah, that might sound weird, but that kept me playing that one save for 2 years now.
Doesn't sound weird at all, The Sims 2 is a great game! 💛 Of the three games, The Sims 4 certainly requires the most work to get a story going. That can be mentally draining, especially if you're not in the head space to make all those decisions. I hope you feel better in the future. I'm glad you're able to enjoy The Sims 2. I also love how Sims' personalities just organically emerge from gameplay in The Sims 2, or even The Sims 3.
