Oshun - A Yoruban River deity. She is the goddess of divinity, femininity, fertility, beauty and love. The definition of Abundance.
It is said that #Oshun, dressed in all white, went down to the river one day. She began washing the dirt off her dress. And through the heavy scrubbing her dress eventually attributed its well known yellow color.
I’ve always had a strong connection to Oshun. Since I was a child watching her children dance at Tambores, a traditional celebration for the orishas where the gods come down to earth to dance. The memory remains in nostalgia, a flicker of time of which I had my first understanding of the cosmic.
The memories aren’t lost or forgotten though. They remain integral pieces in my everyday life. Motivating me toward alignment.
It is with this understanding that I metaphorically take myself to the river every morning, to wash myself in abundance, to realign with the sweetness that Life has to offer.
