I’m a homeschool mom of 5 so we have clothes, towels, bedding, etc. for 7 people. We live in Indiana so we have all 4 seasons. Even if everyone has one light weight jacket and one winter coat, that’s 14 coats to hang in our entry way. Not to mention backpacks for school and basketball. I’m so motivated to purge tons of clothes now…and possibly move to Hawaii to make life easier 🤣
bahahaha this ws so funny! Ok yeah we are way spoiled in HI/CA with not actually needing that much clothing, but if you have that much life to manage... even more reason to simplify the physical stuff!
We are a family of 6 and have all 4 seasons in the UK sometimes all in the same day!!! I do a wardrobe change over twice a year. I dread it. Packing up the previous seasons clothes is a big job - should say I’m the only one who has to do it as I’ve not got enough space…. I know even more reason to declutter it.
I am loving your channel- it is so motivating and stirs up all the reasons why I desire the lifestyle my family and I are living and pursuing. I am a Christian, homeschooling, plant based mom who is in the process moving to a 600 square foot home. I’ve always desired a minimalist household but it’s taken this transition to really make it feel like a necessity for my own sanity! Thank you so much for making these videos!! ♥️
Good for you Its not easy to go against the mainstream I too was a Chrustian homeschooling mom of 6 My adult kuds 3 in their twenties and 3 in their thirtees were also raised mostly vegan were very healthy and no problem to get to sleep. The fresh air, home cooked foods ,exercise helped themget to sleep easily .We used to listen to Jim Weiss with his soothing voice
This video is so inspiring because we don’t really need most of the stuff we own…I’ve been minimizing my closet for a long time and I’m finally getting to a happy place….Love the colors in your wardrobe!
New subscriber and I am obsessed I have watched all your videos. We are trying to declutter and work our way to minimalist life style. I was just wondering how do you shop for clothing items? Do you have favorite brands? Thanks
Thanks for sharing! I keep a minimal wardrobe but have found that things sometimes wear out quickly that way since I'm wearing the same things over and over again. Do you have the same issue?
Hi I recently found your channel and it’s giving me a lot of inspiration. I saw you have a Patagonia jacket I was wondering you remembered the style or had a link for it?
I was 2 mins into your video and got confused at all these chicken noises, paused the video and my chickens were making exactly the same noise as yours, no wonder it was surround sound from my phone! 😁🐓 I’ll carry on watching now …. 🙂
I love your videos so much! Watching them is like receiving a hug on a stressful day. Just when I thought I’d already culled as much as I could from my home/wardrobe, you always give me inspiration to get rid of even more stuff!
I will work on this but im going to need more leeway like 30 items.. I think being a minimalist, information is a direction and I need to be honest with myself and I would feel more calm with 30 items to start.. I suppose its something to play with as I dont want to feel angry or have an anxiety attack because I want to keep something but it goes over my limit.. if im forced, I will walk away, so for me, I will need to take it one step at a time.. mind you, I have 2-3 massive bags already to donate and hubby has 2 already as well so we are getting somewhere.. I decluttered my kitchen but as time goes on and I dont use a certain thing, I will donate it.. thanks for your assistance too.. much 💜 from Australia Levi-Daisy 🌸✨🙏💙🦋
Yes, grace! Thanks for talking through your process! While I do so much better with a minimal wardrobe too, I think what you said about having grace with yourself is so important! They are only a tool to be used to do their job - sometimes I give them too much weight and worry/get stressed out about decluttering or buying and I think letting go of that ideal will change so much for me!
My wardrobe has been shrinking and I naturally find myself wearing less. My boys have way more clothing than they need (totally more than me) plus I have drawers of hand me downs for my youngest. Decluttering cute kids clothes is another story! I’ve never actually solidified a 10 item wardrobe myself though. It comes down to fear of letting those random items go even though they just sit and sit weighing space in my mind. Seeing how beautifully cohesive your 10 items turned out (and going with you relatively quickly through your process) gave me the inspirational push I needed. Currently, I’m going through another large declutter and ready to tackle my closet once again. Thank you. You motivated me to go for it!
I feel like style experiments are such a taboo with some minimalists… how will you ever know what you like if you never allow yourself to try different things? Just do it mindfully :) love the vibes of your channel
Hey Denise, check out my ten item wardrobe video if you're interested in it! I love having a super minimal wardrobe. :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3_Ma7W9hs94.html
This is so relaxing and gave me motivation to declutter my wardrobe. I have 40 piece wardrobe but live in a climate that gets hot and cold but want to get down to atleast 20
I’m finding lately that I’m wearing the same 10 items on rotation. I’ve been a stay at home mom since my son was adopted and he’s turning 26 tomorrow. Needless to say I haven’t had the need for many formal clothes. It seems as years pass I’m just happy to wear t-shirts and leggings all year. Of course it’s good to have certain items for special occasions but other than that I need to declutter most everything else. I do go through my wardrobe often but usually only let a few items go at a time. Thank you for the inspiration and motivation.🥰
Always love your videos 🙌🌈 What's your top tip for getting to this 10 item point..? Where I live we have all 4 seasons & it makes it a little tricky but I so desire to have less to manage 💗
Hey Christina! If I were you I would probably keep a bin or two in the top of my closet for out of season clothing. Admittedly though, I don't have to deal with that.
Do you do the one out one in thing normally? I don't think I track that stuff but I have heard of a lot of minimalists doing that. For instance, my husband gained weight and got rid of a bunch of his pants (he wears the same colors daily). . .I think we replaced 5 pairs with 2 or 3 instead of 5. These pants he wears daily for years and last a long time, but anyway, I really don't think I pay attention. I totally have bought dresses that I loved but then there are faulty things with them, I fix them up best I can, but it still causes issues or has itchiness or I have to take it in, etc. . .that I find myself sighing and not keeping them as long as some other dresses that I have owned for years and years. It is upsetting when that happens, right?? My sons are simple. My oldest one only likes wearing monochromatic colors but he is growing so quickly that in 6 months I had to replace his pants (he only wears grey or black pants). My other son wears the same two pants/jeans throughout the week and would easily live out of two shirts if he could, but he has more than that. This has inspired me to check through and declutter AGAIN, which I just did a couple months ago. haha.
Also! Just thought of it but I actually did a tour fairly recently, here it is:) I could do an updated one soon! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IoYbTcK8Wmk.html
Love how you break down the process - thanks so much - I am (and have been for the past month in the process of de- cluttering my life* -Do you donate or sell the clothes you don’t keep?
Doing my clothes. Got rid of everything that had a hole are I didn’t feel comfortable in are wear often. I still have a lot though. Taking forever to get through all my stuff.
So good. :) thanks for sharing. I appreciate the way you edit your videos. They’re just so lovely! My main problem-graphic tees. Leggings. Why oh whyyyy. 🙈
I loved this video! So inspiring. How do you manage clothing for special occasions, like a wedding or christening? Here in Sweden we get all four seasons, so I keep one 10 item wardrobe for warm weather and one for colder.❄️☀️
Hey Johanna! Ok so we're definitely poised for clothinng to be especially easy with our weather here because we don't need much clothing, however if I did need winter clothing or layers I would invest in quality over quantity and utilize a single bin for out of season clothing probably at the top of my closet. :)
We've got the minimal wardrobe sorted but I have to know how you keep all your light coloured clothing free of stains. My kids (2 and 5) stain their clothes and mine with blueberries, paint, mud, grass stains every single time. Do you stain remove every single wear or have a secret pile of messy clothes?
Branch Basics is key. But also some of our clothes do get some stains and after I feel like we just can’t wear them anymore, we just replace them. That’s what clothes are for. I want to encourage that type of play from my kids and not be worried about the “stuff” or create a scarcity mindset
Another video that makes me happy 😊 It’s definitely helped me get rid of “good” clothes, that are nice, that fit, but I just don’t reach for. But my question is, what’s the beautiful plant behind you on the right of the screen when you’re sat by the lovely wooden bench? 🌱🪴😊
