The anode sucker cup loosened and the HV is striking on the outer coating of the tube. Replacement of a sucker cup will end this.

Ok then if that's the. Case buy a plasma globe, put a sheet of tin foil on it, and hover a screw driver over it until an ark catches it, then once you have an ark grab some paper and slide it over the ark then tell me it's not dangerous
