The legend of Greek and Nordic mythology tells that Kratos was a Spartan general and that he got these swords when Ares (ancient God of war) gave them to him after making a pact with him, in order to defeat his enemies...
Later, Ares prepares and organizes a trap for Kratos and makes him kill his own wife and daughter and that is when Kratos becomes the "Ghost of Sparta" and avenges his family by killing Ares. At that moment, Kratos becomes the new GOD OF WAR...
