The fact that you actually have the FM engine inside instead of sampled sounds is already a reason to buy this hehe. Great machine. Yamaha, my favorite music brand.
Lifespan about 2 years until the Genos 3 comes out, then Genos 4, 5, then a new name again. This has been going on for a few decades, and will carry on for a few more.
A great demonstration guys and it certainly is an upgrade on the Genos 1. However, quite a few of the styles that Paul was demonstrating are actually on the Genos (1). Perhaps a demo of a few more of the new styles would help to convince us Genos diehards to upgrade.🤔
for me,if you have the Genos 1, that's look not necessary to buy the 2. My friend , he play with the Genos 1 and just connect his macbook pro to play with virtual instruments like Keyscape and Trillian...to notch accPiano/Rhodes and Bass sound, and that's it.
@@mrityunjaytripathi5588 yes,it’s true, the power of yam are the styles. You know, in real party time, you just need 10 styles, yaaa, like djay, that’s the comon ask for party time, undeed.
Still using the plastic matt finish top panel , after a while it changes texture with constant finger movements and looks tatty. Even the SX 900 has a matt black brushed top which does not mark.
The sounds alone are fantastic. As soon as the styles are added into the mix, it’s lunch hour at the nursing home, which ruins it for me. I dunno, maybe less in the mix is better?
Sound switching ?? Yes or no, these styles are very similar to what in the original. Also why was the screen blurred out when Paul was playing f certain styles and sounds. What are they hiding ??
I'm amazed at how many people commenting can slag Genos 2 off especially hearing how the pianos are a vast improvement over the previous Tyros and Genos pianos even though there is no way I could afford Genos 2. I admit I thought I was going to be underwhealmed at Genos 2 but if it means I might get a used Tyros 5 for a more reasonable price I'm not complaining.
I am blind and I’m wondering if there’s any possible way for me to use this. It looks very interesting but I’m worried that I would not be able to use it. Do you know if there’s anyway to use a screen reader or something like that so I could access all of the features?
When we made the video, Paul didn't want to share some of his settings before he had had a chance to fine tune his registrations, what a great keyboard though! 😀
Quick online check for the cost of upgrading a Genos (1) to the new one approx £3000. A Montage M6 is about £3200, or a Modx 6+ can be had for under a grand. In both cases you would still have your original Genos and a shed load of new sounds, including the DX7s if that's important to you. That's the direction I think I'm going in now.
Beautiful performance. While 80s and 90s sounds are great, but what about the current 2023 and beyond sounds ??? And how about classic and emerging Indian (Bollywood) sounds? Thank you
Sounds fantastic. Does it have an adjustable swing parameter and various random settings for each track in the styles? Until designers put these things in to bring tracks to life, these arrangers will sound “too perfect” and mechanical.
Exactly the need for this keyboard, like the drummer in logic pro x, you have an axis X/Y like a joystick and you can play with the complexity of the drummer in realtime....top.
Why is there still only one sound layer on the left hand. By now there should be at least two layers as per the old Casio CTX-3000 and 5000 at a far cheaper price point.
Tyros 5 is still a fantastic keyboard, as a matter of fact I almost bought one last year and wouldn't have regretted it. I might reconsider getting one in 2025 is I still want one and can get one for a reasonable price. I think we can expect Tyros 5's to come further down in price in the next few years.
@@dont3222 it’s new algo for giga méga trilia compressing files 🤪. Crazy, the more comon ssd are 512/1 terra and the price is low. They use the politic of Apple i think😂
Please tell me where the best quality comes from? Is it Recoding internally and transferring it to the USB stick or to an external Digital interface. Please tell me David? I am using the Genos2.
I play The Great American Songbook, so using a FM synthesis engine is not really something *I* would be using, but I have a question. Are we going to see 1980s era FM drum machines, if there were even any? Just looking at some of the older RX series drum machines, they even seemed to be 12-bit sampled. I'm sure that even if you went back to earlier sampling, there would be some people who would be looking for those sounds, if you're going to include a FM synthesizer. One of the other things that he was talking about was 3,200 One Touch Settings, but I was watching a video of another user who makes a LOT of Genos videos (Gen 1) and is totally enamoured with G2. He was commenting on the order of some of the OTS settings. I wondered why you just couldn't change them to what you wanted. I have an very old (relatively speaking) Korg PA series keyboard, and it literally a snap to redo the Single Touch Settings to what I want them to be, from sounds to effects to whatever, and save them along with the style. But, it would appear in Genos that I can't do that. Yes, I can save changes to the OTS, but it would appear that I can't overwrite the original, I have to save it somewhere else. I mean, if for some reason, I wanted to make changes to one or two OTS settings in every style, I would need to create an additional 800-1,600 User Styles. At least if I'm reading the manual correctly. Is this correct? Style Dynamics is another question I have. We know that most of the sounds are velocity sensitive, so this Style Dynamic, does it increase or decrease the velocity so we get a softer or louder sound (with different samples for some sounds), or is it something different? One of the other things is, obviously, there are certain styles that are made for specific songs. I'm sure they can be used for other songs as well, and the differences in the Intros (and probably Endings) would allow it to be used elsewhere. How many of the styles are 'song specific?' Again, for me, I don't play a lot of 80s and newer music, they seem kind of 'worthless', FOR ME. How many of the styles are designed like this? Of course, on the other hand, the person who plays out will love those styles, and for them, it's great.
More styles that sounds exactly like a very particular popular song… these styles Leaves nothing to creativity… the style that can basically be used with that certain song… I don’t think it’s worth upgrading
They missed a trick. I don't want a keyboard but I would like a top notch organ at a reasonable price. How difficult would it yave been for Yamaha to produce a keyboard that could easily and seemlesly attach to a second keyboard. Easy, but no.
@@samuelcharrier8164 I want more than a Hammond Clone. The Genos could be the basis of a relatively cheap home style organ. Thats what I meant about attaching a second keyboard in a seemless way but Yamaha don't want to do it for some reason. So we have the abortion that is the TRX system.
Chord Looper buttons - ok - but still NO EDITING facility for the recorded progressions. And would have been nice if the 8 progression loops could have default styles attached and saved in the file.
Br Yamaha I do have Yamaha PSR series but sadly they killed the beauty without tilt screen it should be tilt mode touch screen to feel the music journey ,inthat part KORG knew about it 😠,🇨🇦
Infact I was using my genos and trying it with multipile youtube genos 2 videos im seeing no difference apart new styles and Fm synthesis , I will be skipping this one for sure
Bonitos sonidos y todo... Pero el diseño, es FEISSSSSSIMOOOO! Parece de juguete... Es la razón principal para descartarlo! Prefiero KORG o incluso KETRON que por lo menos tienen la apariencia de teclados de verdad...
Wow utterly sensational, black white keys and a host of knobs including the two introducing it. Be still my beating heart! For Gods sake the world is teetering on global destruction and this is electronic crap supposed to enrapture us!
