I’m putting together a reaction to Jeffrey Lacasse, his story changes in every interrogation leading up to the trial where he is cooperating witness for the state. In his very first interrogation he loved Wendi and agreed with Charlie that he also wanted Dan dead and laughed about it. Right after the murder. Georgia is amazing but I can see Jeffrey coming unhinged on her in future trials. He swings on his seat and skulls waters in the magbanua trial he runs out of water and nearly breaks the seat off its hinge. in his first 2 interrogations he acts like Chris watts. In his third interrogation he seriously changes his story. In the trial he calls Dan ‘professor’ he never mentions anything positive about Dan from his own viewpoint during the first 2 interrogations. He hated Dan. Wendi got a no contact order on him after he abused her and the interrogator tried to explain to him that he’s meant to stick to it. Jeff is an evil genius, he’s in on it with Wendi and Charlie.
@@tcttvradio He’s no different then Wendi her stories keep changing especially being so narcissistic to go to crime scene. Happens all the time just like Charlie his arrogance he could not stfu on phone sank him. Wendi had to visit the scene due to arrogance . Charlie sank himself when he couldn’t wait to meet mom when she said not over the phone maestro arrogance he had to know asap
So your brother in law gets murdered. Your girlfriend comes to you and says "My friends did it. Give me money." So without speaking to anyone else you just take her word for it, pay her $138,000 on the spot, then giver her $3000 per month until she's arrested. Sounds perfectly reasonable to me. With a story that good, it's hard to believe he was convicted. LOL!😁👍
@@shirleymason3853 A Dr Evil plan and his kid at the conference table says “ Why not just demand ONE MILLION DOLLARS at gunpoint from Charlie?” HELLO ? Why kill Dan? Why bother? If any of this transpired it would hv been blackmail anyway not extortion. Unless Charles uses the Amber Heard approach and uses Extortion and Blackmail synonymously. He donated the cash and pledged the payment plan ….
I know right! And he just Hands her $138,000 in cash. Come on! I’ve been watching this trial and these people for years. When this defense came out, some other lawyers on the Internet said they busted out laughing! That’s how bad it was.
I feel so sorry for Dan's kids, I don't know how they're getting through this or will but I wish them all the health, healing and happiness in the world.❤
Many people believe that the family will lie to them. They are both teenagers now. That will not fly. I only hope they are not tortured throughout their young life, especially by others. Poor kids were so young they probably don’t have too much memory of Danny, certainly not enough. It might be best if they take their father’s name back. They can honor him that way.
@@moongoddess8568 I think they should take their Dad's name back, he was fighting for them. Some parents don't care enough. No matter what age they are they'd grow up and see all of this. It's awful. I hope the same lovely, these poor boys caught in the mess of a disturbing family. I don't think they'll ever get over this but I hope they go on to live happy lives and heal as much as possible. Bless them🙏🏼❤
@@moongoddess8568 they were ages, three and four, when their father was killed. But in those three and four years apparently Danny was very involved with them and show them a lot of physical and emotional love. So I think the seeds are planted deep inside their psyche of who their dad really was. And it may take years or decades for them to painfully research this. But I think eventually they will figure out what happened.
@@livingthedream8539 Maybe with the Mother but it's usually a trauma bond and I don't think they'll have that with their Uncle who's been locked up for years. They're teenagers without a Father they might be extremely angry and disgusted with the Mother for being part of it. Time will tell but I just hope these kids get through this.
As far as sentencing it’s automatic life without parole in Florida. Greg, you do deserve a medal for going through 8 hours of the most tedious direct and cross of a defendant ever, thank you! Love the hat Scott 😊
Have you watched Jodi Arias trial? She was ridiculous with cross examination. The DA had to keep repeating the questions because she played semantics. It took at least 2ce as long because of it. T-E-D-I-O-U-S!
I think she said it to be disparaging, to see how Charlie would react. We know this matriarch is not only complicit, but the possible ringleader of her own kids actions in this case. She is formidable in the most corrupt, evil sense of the word and Charlie is probably not only coddled by his mother, but also whipped by her in the proverbial sense as well. Georgia saying 'shes old..' and a big pause, she wanted to see if Charlie would react with something along the lines of: 'She is a force to be reckoned with, you dont mess with my mom', and that would lend further credence to the theory that she had no issue with or would not be intimidated by criminal gangs, as she knows full well two of them murdered the son in law she hated with her and her sons money behind them.
Just here to comment on the analysis of the questions that Chase suggested were objectionable. (I am an attorney so I feel compelled to comment lol). Most of those questions could have been objected to as speculation - however Charlie opened the door to large areas to go into so - in my opinion - even if his attorney objected - the judge would have likely allowed it. Also relative to Scott’s comment on Charlie not answering the questions - the prosecutor likely did not care. Her questions were intended to be the focus - not his answers. His ridiculous answers are simple icing. Questions on cross are always leading.
Thank you for your professional input. I came to the comments hoping to find this exact contextual response from a lawyer's perspective. I understand what you said, but, in your opinion, does it still seem like his lawyers are being a bit lazy in their representation of him? They still could have objected to throw her off, or to instill doubt in her line of questioning from the jury's perspective.
Oh. My. God. He just basically admitted that his mom was running to the airport (where she just got caught) because she is guilty in this! 😲🤔🧐 He said, "I'd be running to the airport..." and "I'm not running to the airport..." 🤷♀️ His mom & dad just got caught with ONE WAY TICKETS 🤦♀️
And why would innocent dentists abandon their practice to move to Vietnam of all places. What the hell are they going to do there? Like they wouldnt want to retire in Florida?
I have watched this case. The TV was code for the phone calls the day of the murder. He bought her a tv as divorce gift saying it was “ cheaper than a hit man”. The tv broke & repairman came the day of murder so she had an excuse to call the house to get coded notification of the deed being done.
You four rock! Today I received a nasty letter and in the past, I would have felt bad. Not today. Today I read that letter with a friend and we analyzed every word. Oh the things we learned about the person who wrote it. It was delightful to have this skill, even at a novice level. ❤
I hate ads. Unless Mark is delivering them. His voice and demeanor are just so delightfully kind and charming, that it actually makes me wanna buy the dang product just to please him.
Dan passed away in hospital. He was on the phone with a friend when he was shot and a neighbour heard the shot, so EMT help came pretty quickly. He wasn’t left to die in the car for 14hours.
At 1:28:33 or so, Chase just took the words right out of my mouth!!! Charlie saying “I wish she would have picked any other word than tv” absolutely implies that the tv, tv repair was a code as well as an alibi. At least in my opinion. So I was thankful to hear someone smarter than myself share the same belief! Haha
I am still trying to figure out which one of you guys I enjoy the most. Dang, I just can’t , you are all completely different individuals and all fascinating to listen to. I enjoy every single one of you. Thank you!
Thanksgiving 2023. I ended up spending the week alone so I binged on your episodes. I must’ve watched 40 hours of your content. Your collegiality, insight, and humor kept me company and I thank you. It was a blast! (Don’t change a thing!)
Oops. Error in intro, please. Markel wasn't in the garage for 14 hours. The ambulance got there in about 20 minutes. He died 14 hours later...at the hospital. Worth mentioning.
@@longwhitecloud8059Chase was giving little dentist humor with the "plaque buildup" analogy and Scott wiped his smile off like he does whenever Mark pronounces something in his English accent 😂😂😂
Wow Chase blew my mind! I didn’t understand that at first what he was explaining about how Charlie exposed himself when he said she could’ve picked any other word for the TV. But now I get it. Chase is really good with words. No wonder he’s an author.
I watched Charlie's testimony and to me he is a practiced liar. I know 2 people like this and they seem incapable of telling the truth. In fact they seem to get enjoyment out of lying and that's why he seems so calm. I knew one person who lied when he did not even need to lie. It's amazing to see.
Hes getting enjoyment out of it because he actually thinks he is a convincing liar, if not a practiced one. Hes only practiced at this particular lie because he has stuck to it for the last ten years, knowing that this was his story if he was ever arrested.
A highlight in this story is when Charlie reveals without thinking ‘I wish any other word was used other than tv - revealing there was a code word being used to communicate amongst themselves but it was so obvious that everyone could spot it!
Greg… I’m only 15 seconds in and have to point out an error, Dan wasn’t left for 14 hours in his driveway after being shot. His neighbour heard the shots and walked over a few minutes later and discovered dan in his car with the motor running, shot twice in the head and unresponsive. He later died in hospital. Sorry to be a stickler but I know this case inside out 😉
The fake crying and her naming specific possible suspects, and her alibi-ing herself over and over. Love TBP but sometimes I wish you were the forensics panel!
I was thinking the same thing! I would LOVE to know what the Behavior Panel thinks about Wendi's interview with the detective! I've watched it twice now; once, last year when I stumbled on it through RU-vid, and again, recently. Fascinating!
Please do more Adelson content. There are jail calls, police interviews, and so much body language gold! I know the jail calls don’t have visuals, but maybe there are voice quality aspects?
I know what I want for Christmas. I'd like to see each member of the Panel interview a real suspect- one suspect per panelist so we can see your individual styles. I'd Love to see you guys in action from start to finish. 😃
ASA Cappleman got a lot of criticism for this cross, but it really was masterful. Once she realized he wasn't going to agree to anything, and had spent the last year in custody memorizing the time, date, duration, and content of every call -- coming up with an excuse for everything, she wisely changed tacks. She was never going to get a "gas can" moment, á la Jodi Arias/Juan Martinez. Instead, she restructured cross to allow Charlie's demeanor and _over-explanation_ to tell the jury what it needed to know about him. It takes a really skillful prosecutor to realize that's what's going on and actually make the choice to change strategy mid-questioning.
Chase, I am so glad you picked up on his statement about the TV. He might as well have just said “ yeah, I’m hired someone to kill Dan and yeah, my mom knew all about it. And so did Wendi because of the “TV Repair”. We were gonna get every thing “fixed” for her and mom.
Yep, just ridiculous. I’ve bought many TV’s and never needed any help from anyone just put it in the car then on the wall. They act like she’s on the short bus but she goes along with this nonsense.
Even after being sentenced to Murder in the First with no parole plus 30 more years twice, Charlie and his Mom talked about him getting out in a couple weeks!
I agree with Chase's views of Charlie's defense team. They should have known that he was too arrogant to put on the stand (and be cross examined). Now they've arrested his mother too. Apparently, they didn't realize phone calls to the jail are recorded and monitored...dumb asses.🙄
I'm dying here of laughter watching Mark doing advertisement for Scentbird. I'm sure, all the other guys just: no, no, not me! And Mark, enthusiastic as usual: Yeah, of course, I can do that! :)
They are expressing their love of each other, parents, son, son and parents. They are oblivious that Dan was a father who lost his sons, and the boys lost their father. Such compartmentalization !!!
Thank you TBP. I'm looking forward to this one. I found Charlie very hard to read. It will be great to hear from the experts. We have another one to look forward to now as Donna was arrested last night. That will be an interesting one.
I agree..most time I thought arrogant..then no, entitled bully..then no..idk...lol But jury got it right..I thought.. Mom made me laugh..running? Seriously? Sorry feeling snarky towards this whole lot.. Broken hearted for the innocent babies🎉
Amazing skilled guys in this RU-vid channel's Behavoir Panel! I 👏👏👏👏 I’ll never get tired of hearing your very exciting analyzes of body language in this criminal case or in the other criminal cases that you have analyzed. Greetings from a Danish fan from Copenhagen 🤩🇩🇰🤩🇩🇰🤩
Funny how a completely innocent man who had nothing to do with a murder and was being unfairly extortioned by gansters is so particularly keen on keeping the police as far away as possible in every phase of the events. He holds his own, though. Fortunately, the whole family's deranged and out of touch with reality. That misled him to think that his far-fetched explanations would make actual sense outside of his mind. Chase, that was spot on! Why "pick" any other word than TV when you're supposedly talking about a TV...? Unless you're not.
Charlie and his sister sure have a high opinion of themselves. Watching them, I kept thinking that they both thought they were smarter than everyone else and thought they would get by with the murder for hire. I felt so bad for the victim. He couldn't have done anything bad enough to deserve to die the way he did. - - Sidenote: Scott, I'm with you. I can't ride with fast drivers. If I'm in a situation where I have to ride with a speed demon, I insist on sitting in the back seat behind the driver. If I'm in an accident, at least, I won't have to watch it coming.
I guess that it "rubbed off" from their mother. She has turned out to be so arrogant that she wouldn't believe that she "might" be on a "no-fly list" to keep her from fleeing to somewhere like maybe VIETNAM???
Amazing video on Charlie Adelson it was outstanding. After almost 10 years it's so nice to see Charlie being questioned on the stand. Thanks for sharing! 😊
The Adelsons are the mother load of crime material. The convoluted crime (hiring hitmen, police videos, the neighbor as a witness). They are like a mafia family “we can take care of this for you wink wink”, then you’ve got the crazy behavior of each family member and their whole psychologically fascinating but crazy personalities. And we had one trial with Sigfredo and Katie where Sigfredo got life without parole. Then we had another trial for Katie and she got life without parole. Now we have this trial for Charlie, and he got life without parole. And now we have Donna and Harvey fleeing to Vietnam with a one-way ticket. If this were a movie, it would have to be a six part series like Star Wars.
What I noticed about Charlie is his whole attitude on the stand seems like he's thinks he's facing a poker match. I had an old friend that was very like this especially when he would lie, and I noticed that he learned it or the same behavior was present at least in both of his brothers. I went with him and one of his brothers to Vegas once and watch them play blackjack. He was basically exactly like watching Charlie testify
Good observation. Heard another person suggest he looks like he’s trying to gaslight a girlfriend who caught him cheating. Either way, not very credible.
Wow…looking forward to it! This case blows my mind! Every time I think it can’t GET any more insane, IT DOES. Donna was arrested at MIA with a one-way ticket to Vietnam (non-extradition country) flying through Dubai…she’s being held in TGK (a truly disgusting jail in Miami). I heard she was recorded saying she was deciding between suicide and Vietnam. Next big question... Will Wendi be charged.
Charges for Wendi will hinge on the ex-boyfriend, Jeffrey...and whether his statements about being set-up to take the murder rap are enough for a conviction. Wendi definitely knew when and where the hit would happen, but is that enough?
@@wiffley I heard an attorney yesterday opine that if she were to be convicted it would likely be of perjury, not murder. He said her derivative use immunity deals made a murder case difficult Perjury in a case of capital crime carries a potential term of 30 years. I did not know the perjury sentence went that high-makes sense, though. If I were on a jury, I’d believe his word over hers, no doubt in my mind. Who had the most to gain if Dan died, definitely not her mother or brother. AND the 30 year terms can run consecutive and not concurrent, so she would spend the rest of her natural life behind bars
One line that (already)! didn't 'age well': 1:34:03: "We didn't do a murder, I WASN'T PART OF A MURDER, so there's no reason to run to the airport." OH, Hi, Mom!! 🤪🤪
I'm shocked Georgia allowed Charlie to ask her questions and talk with no question has been asked. All that about TV being a code... the last 2-3 clips, he went on quite a bit on his own. Maybe she let him so the jury would see how he doesn't make sense.
Chase is an absolute genius with his catch of Charlie cracking out of school @1:19:25. It is clear that Charlie rehearsed the idea that "TV" couldn't possibly be code for anything, but by prefacing that argument with "I wish she picked another object on planet Earth..." he inadvertently admits that there is no TV, and that his mother was indeed speaking in code. The prosecutor should have caught this as well.
Absolutely! He rehearsed his rewritten history so much that he forgot the plot of his own narrative - how many times did the prosecutor have to redirect him when he said "Katie wasn't the extortionist"? Mind boggling. He also literally names his sister and parents as coconspirators because he didn't actually understand his charges.
Mark, you should always do the spots. Only halfway through did i start to skip the commercial, because i already signed up and love it... But if i hadn't, i would probably have checked it out because of Mark. The charisma is unmatched.
@@kittybloom9553 his mind is so multifaceted, he's just brilliant. Brilliant. Someone just posted this thing about a relic from Old English being leftover in our language and my very first thought was, quite sincerely, "I wish I could ask Mark Bowden!"
He was not left in his garage for 14 hours. They found him right away..Witness watched the car leave.. He did die 14 hours AFTER he was found in the hospital
Precisely. 💯 If they're going to jump on the RU-vid algorithm pushing this fascinating case, they should do a modicum of perfunctory research first. Everyone following the case here has heard the 911 call where the neighbor is literally saying he just watched the assailant's car drive away and he's seen the victim still bleeding, slumped in his car. There was a slight delay in the ambulance getting there, b/c for some reason it was relayed to responders as a traffic accident by the dispatcher, but he wasn't left in the garage for 14 hours. Like you said, he passed away in the hospital after about this amount of time. I like these guys, but you can tell sometimes they're just following what's "hot" and they haven't really read up on their subject matter.
@@lorifintel9784They've said that before, but I think it's a poor strategy - leads to very preventable errors, sometimes serious ones. True crime affects real people, so errors should be avoided whenever possible. More important than "cold reading," in my opinion (as a former crime journo interested in forensic linguistics and interrogation).
Ah, Mark, I love the way you say “Bergamowy”!! I haven't heard that pronunciation before. I love bergamot-tea, lotion, candles ... can't get enough! :) Couldn’t resist piping in on that little gem after my last couple comments this week on language :) Thanks to all four of you for the content, as always! Love watching, and appreciate your insights into human behavior 💛
Also please consider Jeffrey LaCasse / Wendi’s ex-boyfriend… You know, the one she tried to frame for it. He’s just so animated. I would love to hear your commentary.❤
Jeffery couldn't get the water bottle out of his mouth fast enough, to spill the beans on Wendi and her family, when asked incriminating questions by the prosecution. It made me lol every time.
I would love to hear from him. I didnt find him to be believable because he would not accept the breakup and would do anything to see Wendy again, but would love to know if I read him incorrectly 😊
Wonder if Charlie really thought he was going to get away with murder? Did he really think that he was going to be so smooth and competent on the stand, without Georgia making him squirm? I'm guessing yes! He had the arrogance to think that he was going to be able to pull off a hit on his brother-in-law and walk away. Georgia got her conviction! And in such a tidy manner, bless her heart.
Charlie's conviction is attributed to the outlandish fallacy of an extortion and layaway plan, than any of all the evidence the prosecution presented...
Loved this one! Great catch Chase on the TV code word slip up. I heard that right away, too. Georgia also got him to admit that he "hated" his brother in law. Previously he said they simply weren't close. Just a note - this is a cross examination, so the prosecutor is allowed to ask leading questions. Except for the two speculation questions, she was within bounds. For the most part, she was grilling him on his own testimony. And I didn't think he was calm at all. I thought he looked sweaty, was red faced and there was quite a bit of lip licking. He knows his story makes no sense. He claims the killer really wanted to kill him because he was dating his ex but instead killed someone he admits he hated and rather than go to the cops and have them arrested, he continues to date the girl and starts to pay the ex so they won't go to the cops to frame him for the murder? But they'd have to give themselves up, too, right? When asked why he continued dating her, he said he didn't think she was involved in the extortion. He said he believed she wasn't keeping the money he gave her because he knew she was "broke" because she kept coming to him to ask him to pay for other things. Not greedy, just needy! That's why Georgia kept calling him "Doctor" because we know he's not that stupid. Also, I had to laugh when he said if they were guilty they'd be running to the airport. After Charlie was convicted, his mom was actually arrested at the airport and reportedly was attempting to flee! Guess that was their Plan B! 😂
As I was watching this trial live I kept thinking “I cannot WAIT until TBP does a video on this” Couldn’t wait until you guys commented on his off-the-charts blink rate
I love watching these 4 gentlemen. They really prove that they know their field very well. I’m so glad I’ve discovered this channel recently and I must confess I’m addicted to their content 💯
54:30 The prosecutor asks him when he found out how Dan was killed. He doesn't say, "It was the next morning." Instead, he says, "It would have been the next morning." Which I take as, "If my story here were true, it would have been the next morning."
Charlie said he was advised by counsel not to talk to anyone. What? When you had the answer to solving the crime!! And by the way, why did you have a lawyer and you weren't arrested for anything?
