To all you small creaters out there, just the fact that you are here means you are trying to improve and you are in the process. Just don't give up, you will make it too :D
I’ve been debating buying one forever. Thank God you guys covered it. You just have a way of explaining things to normal people without all of the techie talk. Thank you.
There are, in fact, five models available, two of which have eight inputs and also a headphone out which is very useful. I‘ve been using a Mini Pro for almost a year now, and the Extreme ISO since it‘s been available. Editing for me is basically down to cutting things out which is really fast, in particular when using DaVinci Resolve‘s cut page together with the speed editor. The setup is also great for live streaming.
Great! Yea most people won't need 8 inputs and this video could be an hour long going into all the features and capabilities! Thanks for sharing how you use it!
@@ThinkMediaTV Yup, you are certainly right there. I just wanted to add the hint. Additional inputs may in fact be very useful once you also start connecting one or more computers - for lower thirds, e.g.
@@ThinkMediaTV It's not so much having 8 inputs as it is having more than 4. Dual USB jacks and dual HDMI jacks, as well as the super source feature, make the Extreme and Extreme ISO worth getting over the smaller Mini devices. Super source alone makes for far more compelling videos.
You just solved the biggest problem I have with making videos. I know what to shoot and how to shoot it , then I’m stuck with video on my phone and action camera. For example, I have the action camera mounted on the steering column and the phone on the dash. Problem is, I don’t know how to put the 2 together. This thing makes it so easy! I gotta get it!
IMO, one of the most useful tutorial/reviews you guys have put out lately! I'm very likely to purchase the middle tier for my podcast, real soon! Cheers, Omar 🙏🏼
thank you , i went to the meta office today and the engineers doing all the pretty stuff for the event like the led lights and sound recommended this product , now im here 💗
I taught online all through lockdown and I actually bought the Atem mini before lockdown for the exact purpose you described. I also record videos for a RU-vid channel for my Biology lessons and it works brilliantly for avoiding the need for editing and speeds up my ability to shoot and upload immediately. A great gadget and I can attest to the fact that it works for the intended purpose described by you.
That is really handy, especially when it comes to composing different shots for a video. Nice job, I’ll most likely use this for future videos on my channel.

Great product.. have the pro and the extreme as well. We use it with a Rodecaster pro 2 and upwards of 5 cameras for our podcast and videos. Nice explanation
OMG. I need this so bad. I'm using the cam link now thanks to you guys and I love it, but this would bring my stream to another level with multiple camera angles. 👍👍🤟🤟💙 thanks for the explanation of all the different versions of this product💙🤟🤟💙💙 Mikey
The antidote to anxiety is action. May this be a sign to get up & go do that thing. Press record. Edit that footage. Make that thumbnail. May your worries wash away and all your RU-vid dreams come true 💗 Dr. Liz
This is so cool! It takes me dayyyys to edit. I don't show off products but it would be cool to show different angles while I'm recording to keep things more interesting.
I use this at work, doing live product demonstrations over MS Teams as a virtual webcam for our x-ray inspection machines. It's a fantastic piece of kit, and very flexible. Use it hooked up to a canon c200, laptop and separate workstation pc, with sennheiser lav mic for audio. Great bit of kit.
The possibility to edit files while you stream is a powerful usecase. This is my solution for all my MS Teams Videoconferences and Trainings. As you put it rightly: you can start to use it just as a switcher and all the way up to using lower thirds graghics, picture in picture, greenscreen effekts. You can even automate it all using the powerful macro features. It comes from a powerful family of bigger blackmagic switchers and has inhereted all the good genes. I am looking forward to upgrade next week to the atem mini extreme iso (which is not so mini any more)

Man I want to learn how to level up my livestreams and make them cool and fancy like tou guys. Guess I gotta watch every think media vid on livestream #VRAFAM
Sure it's been mentioned (haven't read all the comments... One big thing you don't get with the normal mini ($295)is the ability to stream directly from it. Starting at the Pro level ($495) there's an onboard encoder that is rock solid. Also there are 2 more Minis: Extreme and Extreme ISO (the one I'm looking at buying). The Extreme doubles up everything and adds buttons for even more realtime control. Lastly I would say one of the best values to the ATEM Mini (and all of the ATEMs for that matter) is the browser interface. REALLY Powerful for the price!!
That is exactly why I bought the ATEM Mini Pro ISO (to reduce editing & speed up workflow). I do have two questions: 1 - Since the ATEMs don't allow for anything other than still images, is there a way to still incorporate video intro's, stingers, animated lower thirds and transitions and such into the workflow? (like integrating OBS, or a media player?) 2 - How can I crop an image (as can be done in OBS)? Can you please suggest low budget (but simple!!) solutions to these issues?
For my home setup, I could probably not see myself using this, since I run most of my stuff through my Streamdeck already, but for my church's streaming setup... this would be game changing.
Problem is it only uses HDMI inputs, which takes out all webcams or PZT bots which use USB. Currently, there is no HDMI/usb adapter. So while price is unusually good, practical is for the higher end content creator. 4 cameras is easily 6k to 15k. Multicam capture seems like the only option for multiple webcams
I plan on getting the mini to increase workflow. I like the idea of switching camera angles. I want to have at minimum 2 angles, but ultimately 3. I also want to start doing more youtube lives. I think this in an excellent product for that
If I was gonna buy it and if money wasn't a problem I would go for the third version ISO bljust so you have some control while editing so you can fix your mistakes
Omar great timing on this video, because I’m researching video switchers for my setup. More than likely the mini pro version. Oh, what is the name and price of the small monitor seen in the video? Do I need to purchase another monitor to use with my setup? I’m currently using a Mac mini with a 29 inch wide screen. Thanks
I did this via Zoom where we spotlight different cameras and stream to RU-vid... this would have been a game changer, with the budget I had, Zoom worked. But moving into the future...
This product has been on my "I need this eventually" list since I started. Need another quality camera or 2 first to really utilize it 😧. Some day, It will be mine!
With my Canon R5, I just hook up the HDMI from the camera into the ATEM Mini (basic version / $295). Then USB out from the ATEM into my MacBook, and it’s automatically seen as a webcam for Zoom, RU-vid live etc. As long as the camera has HDMI out … it just works. Super easy.
Is the video quality far better than let’s say different scenes using different cameras in OBS? The cost of multiple video capture cards does make a strong case for this product. I’m seriously considering. Thank you!
I just watched this video again- love the simplicity and clear takes! Thanks again. Do you have one for doing Zoom, Skype, etc. using it (for example to interview podcast guests remotely & also grab video)? Regards!
Awesome video! I have an ATEM Mini Pro and a MacBook. How do I record a live feed with the USB out AND control a connection to streaming? Right now my USB out is being used to connect to my computer.
the Atem mini pro is awesome. Tip, use the hdmi out to a monitor recorder like the Ninja v and free up ur USB c port to connect to ur computer for other things
I have Atem mini Pro but I had some difficulties with the USB C output which, when connected to the control software at the same time, sent the videos out of sync making the ATEM unusable. I solved it by putting a second network on the laptop to control the atem separately. However excellent hardware I have already done several streaming using VMix at the same time
