I am really glad Chase took care of you. Thanks to you, I will no longer be purchasing gift cards. All of my gifts will be in cash only now. Thank you for keeping us in the loop.
I returned something to Walmart earlier this week, that I bought with cash. They offered me cash or a Walmart gift card. "Cash, I want cash." Not taking any chances. So glad Chase took care of you.
@@TheMacsLife0 I was a support manager in 2013 and they were having that problem for years I had a store manager who let me use my moral compass and when I was on the clock anyone having a problem with their gift cards and I felt they weren't trying to get one over on me I would have loss protection make a quick check on card usage if it was local they would call the store it was used in and see what they bought and if they had video on transaction if they found fraud I let them handle it if not I would give the money back and ask them not to buy anymore I found out in 2014 while I was getting my surgery on my back recovery and found that you can get on the dark web and get anything. You want way before Ai the hackers can generate card numbers and set a program to watch for a transaction and the amount then they put it up for sale and people can buy them for a lower amount the guy I was talking to in loss prevention told me that you could take a chance and buy a 100 dollar gift card for 50 dollars he said they came with a number of percentage whether they worked or not a 75% was almost guaranteed to work 50% was 50/50 and so on but this isn't new and as a x employee of walmart I find it sad I started a year before Sam died let me tell you when I saw him one time he was a fair man quite rough behind his friendly smile but he was fair but the family fought for years and it got so bad By 2015 they had done away with most full-time positions offered 30 hours as full time but that wasn't covered by labor laws as it didn't meet the quiafcations for full-time insurance and family insurance was about half your monthly pay if you had over 4 members most positions were 2days on for minimum 4 hours a day and you needed to work split shifts 2 on 4 off 2 back on I was gone by that time but so many families lost everything as they went from 40 pluss hours to less than 20 and the mgmt was it's a great place for part time people we hire 200 people when we only had a 100 before we give more jobs back but who could live on that omg I don't know how the store's are still open but don't buy anyone's gift cards I don't know about Amazon if they give any guarantee or not but after watching people at walmart I haven't bought a gift card Any Wal Mart changed for the worse in 2015 and is now a greedy hungry monster they know the gift cards are broken and have for many years
Walmart, Dollar General, and many other retailers, are no longer accepting anything but cash now to purchase these cards. The last couple of times I purchased gift cards for graduations, they required “cash only.” There are now signs posted at the registers in the stores.😠 Been following tour situation since the beginning. I will never buy another gift card, ever. 🧐
Which means your credit card company can’t be notified to report a dispute….since these stores are refusing to let you put that card purchase on a Visa, MC, or American Express card. The credit card companies were probably telling these retailers to ONLY accept cash for gift card purchases.
That's hilarious because I remember at one time they wanted to phase out the cash they wanted everybody using cards no cash back cards only in fact Walmart still has those on the self checkout. But I won't buy a gift card unless I absolutely have to and I will only use my bank card or credit card for that
Maybe you didn't intend to, but with so much innocence, honesty, and integrity, you took a lot of ppl on this extremely important journey with you, and broke an important big news story that no useless news agency has done. You gave so much educated info about it, as well. Thank you.
I worked in Credit Extension for a major bank for years. This gift card dispute is one of the worst stories I've heard. I'm glad you got your 'charge back' credit...🇺🇸 👍☕
So RU-vid showed me the first of this series of yours on my feed one day and I just tuned in out of curiosity and have been keeping up with you ever since because I was really cheering you on I was hoping you got your money back so here we are
Thankfully you were reimbursed still frustrated with Walmart..because if them not taking care of this situation, Wal-Marts going to lose thousands from those who watch your channel..thank you for updating us..❤❤
The day after my birthday I spoke with my sister, who was upset because she had been ripped off. When she told me that was had bought a gift card for me I knew what had happened to her before she finished telling me her story. Glad you got your money back. I will tell my sister. Thank you for sharing.
Yay! You did it!!! Overcoming gift card fraud through failures and frustration finally resulted in success. Justice served... well not served, but earned. Good work getting the bank on your side - even though they're corrupt too. What a world.
I shared this one video to my face book with a warning about upcoming holiday gift card purchases and encouraged everyone to go watch all 6 parts on your channel and share with family and friends.
Grateful that things worked out in the end. I am making all gifts for Christmas this year and from now on. I feel like it’s more personal and whew…safe!
@@TheMacsLife0 I know when my mom back in the day was in local Gov. she would call and leave messages with the reporter for our local coverage. Sometimes you need to get to the person that covers your local area. Try even going down to ine of the local news papers and ask to talk to a local reporter. Mom my is gone now for a very long time but she was relentless at getting through to them when she had a local story. Good luck, sorry it happened to you and all the others !
It won't matter, I was a newsroom administrator several years back. I was trained to keep people away from the reporters wherever they showed up in person. That's because people get agitated by reporters and could have a vendetta with them and pew them. So sometimes reporters would get a handwritten note that would more than likely get lost on their desk and that's why stories aren't followed up on. 🤷🏼♀️
Mrs. Y'all...The adversary is very strong now in these times. It's just going to get worse. I'm glad that you brought this to many people's attention as this activity will increase. God help us all..
This video from you Misty should help out a lot of people who are in the same situation. Thank you for sharing your experience with us!!! Glad you got reimbursed!!!! You are a vey busy person and I know this took a lot of hours out of your day. That's what I call perseverance.
I am so glad that you were able to get that credited back. I never buy from Walmart anymore. I go to a regular store for what I need and I use my Credit cards to purchase something. IF I don't know what to buy, I get a "Written" gift certificate. They still have those.
That is wonderful you got your money back. It’s a shame Walmart doesn’t care what happened and is still selling them. Thank you for sharing this journey with us so we know what can happen if we buy one. God bless y’all.
You are awesome! Most ppl would have given up..the companies don't care and count on ppl just giving up. Thank you so much for bringing this to light! 🥰
Hey Misty, You have launched your new career as an Investigative Reporter. Will you be getting AP Press credentials soon? Number one do not listen to the folks that play the Victim card and so oh no there is nothing I can do. You did prove that you can get your money back in certain conditions. Don't buy these cards y'all it is too much of a losing battle. Misty I did make the dill pickles you recently mentioned and was very pleased with the results. 4 pint jars. I was surprised to learn they can last up to a year when canned ie water bath. Thank you so much. For me this is the channel.
Walmart would 100% be liable for any product they sell. Walmart is betting no one takes them to court. Attorneys listen up: we need a class action law suit against Walmart & other retailers who sell gift cards, but take zero responsibility fir items they sell.
Yayyyy I told you to dispute it, thank God you did!!! I have done this many times due to fraudulent charges. You can do this when you pay your bill, pick the transaction on website and select DISPUTE CHARGE. It will walk you through all the steps. 🙂
Prayers, strength and Jesus is with you, Misty. Thank you for telling us all this information. I will not be buying any gift cards from Walmart! Shame on Walmart. In my opinion, Walmart stole from you. Bless you and yours...Always. 💗🦋🥰🙏
I'm glad Chase took care of you. I worked for credit card companies several years ago and I thought someone had said in the beginning of this, for you to take it to your cc support. Most of these major card issuers will do just what Chase did. Sorry I didn't just email you at the start. God bless and thank you for all you do for us! ❤
I'm so happy - you got the resolution that was the only rightful one. Please keep being the strong individual you are. A major Thumbs Up. Know you will be rewarded more then just getting yout money back. Take Care and Blessings.
Thank You Misty for the update… And Thank you for going out of your way to research for us and share so hopefully we can avoid this problem… So Thankful you got your money Back … Your so appreciated!!! Thank You For Everything you do .. God Bless and Love Yall 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️❤️❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
Thanks for sharing this! I follow a fella that works closely with many homeless folks and often gives them gift cards. I'll try to get word to him. Those gift cards may be scammed and he'll never know if he can't follow-up with the homeless person. That would be so awful for folks who have so little 😞
Yes! Please share! I’d personally rather buy the food and drop it off instead of give cash (being an enabler for those who use drugs or use money to help to buy alcohol Instead of food) but definitely not gift cards!
Happy to hear that you got your money back. I won't ever purchase another gift card. Glad I got connected with you and heard you talking about your experience. Thanks for sharing this information with us!
Good for you, you pursued this problem and it was finally resolved, you shouldn't have had to go through all the hassle you did but it paid off. Kudos to you young lady.👍
I'm glad Chase helped and I've had a couple skimming instances where they reimbursed me, but when will the central banks stop covering these bad debts and bad actors ? Why is it in their benefit to just write off these I ask? And why aren't they pressuring Walmart? Or the other stores to come up with another method? Not to mention the Feds. 😡
I am so glad you were refunded your money and I commend you on your fight to get a refund on this scam. It’s a shame that people use their intelligence and evil way.
Glad you had something good come of it from someplace...I never buy Walmart gift cards, or gift cards period! Glad I chose right on that! Thanks for putting it out there!❤
I'm so glad that you finally got your money back! I've been frustrated for you, and it wasn't even me. I don't know if I'll be buying any more gift cards after watching the hassle that you've experienced.
Last Christmas I bought 7 $10.00 gift certificates from Wal Mart…paid and had a receipt…every card had zero balance…I thought it was a cashier error….now I believe I was caught in the same situation
Glad you were able to get that taken care of. It is too bad that Walmart didn't tell you to talk to your credit card company when you first reported it.
The great thing about chase reversing the transaction to the original date is that if you carry a balance on your card and pay interest, that will eliminate the interest due on that amount.
Same thing happened to me twice at Walgreens. One was a vanilla card & the other was a restaurant card. Both were gifts & the ppl told me they were drained when they tried to use them. It was $250 wasted. Walgreens used to not let u buy gift cards with anything other than cash. Probably bc they were getting their money whether it’s from who bought it or the scammers. I think you can use your debit card now.
Thank you so much for the update, Misty! Now I don't know what to give my grandsons (18 & 15) for Christmas. Gonna have to work it out with their mom, I guess!🤷♀️
I had the same thing happen with my Amazon Prime card. Amazon wouldn’t do anything so I called chase and the filed. A fraud on all those items and the money is being put back in my Chase account. It was almost $200 which is a lot these days! - Sue Sweeten in AZ
It’s not just gift cards that are being scammed. Credit cards are also being targeted. Someone in Texas was trying to use my credit card number to buy airline tickets to several other states. My credit company called me to inquire about the purchases. Of course my response was NO I knew no one in Texas or any of the other states they were planning on going to. The credit card company canceled the card right then, issued a new one which they overnighted to me. They began their own process of tracking down the person who was using the card. Last I heard they were trying to make clothing purchases and were caught with several other cards and numbers. Hats off to my credit card company.
Yes! 🙌 and from what my AG told me - these scammers are using AI to even generate numbers without even touching cards - they are able to gain access! I don’t think they are targeting CC and debits as much for this very reason!!! They know it’s much harder to get caught vs the gift cards!!! And why I’m made it my personal mission to warn others!!!
Here in Iowa you can't use a debit or credit card to purchase gift cards, they make you use cash. It's a big racquet I believe. Not buying gift cards anymore. Thank you for opening our eyes to it 🙏
I am with you all the way!! Chase is a great bank for problems! But beware…, if you order something using chase card they may stop the transaction until they send you a text asking you if you purchased a certain item. If you respond yes they they let you continue to order your item!!!😊
I never thought about it, if I take something back to Walmart without a receipt they give me a card. From now on I’ll put the option to have my receipt on my phone! Sad really.
I had to return something at Walmart they wouldn't exchange the product so I had a choice gift card or back on my debit card. I told them put it back on my debit. She wanted to know why. I told her what I've heard about the gift cards. She looked at me like I was crazy. No gift cards ever again. Thanks for your videos.
A tip if you REALLY want to give gift cards: Many banks and/or credit card companies allow you to purchase a card through them. Back when I was working, our boss would give American Express gift cards for Christmas, or to honor an employee for a good month. I have purchased a few directly from a bank for a gift. You don't have to be a member of that bank if you bring cash.
Sadly, the retailers won't do anything because they are getting the money for the purchases. The only thing that speaks to retailers is losses that they feel. They already have no problem raising prices to recoup losses from thefts that occur in the stores. So, the law- abiding citizen loses through no fault of their own. It used to be that retailers did everything possible to keep customers happy. They even had the motto, "The customer is always right." It has been many years since the last time I mailed a problem product back to a company along with a letter explaining my unhappiness with the product. Back in those days, they would send you a brand-new product with an apology letter. They wanted to keep customers. I guess there are so many consumers that they just don't care anymore. I said on earlier videos that I wouldn't be purchasing any gift cards from any retailer ever again. I mean that. Your experience has been an eye-opener for me. God bless you all, and I am certainly glad that your cc company made it right.
