If you have one of those pull down kitchen faucets, sometimes the braided hose springs a leak. Sure you could wrap some tape over it but it looks horrible and it won't be able to retract back in. This type of fix is more of a replacement since the hose is not repairable. Its cheap and only takes about 5 minutes. Let me show you my struggles so you won't have to. You can actually use the hose weight (note, the separate "weight" assembly that fits around the hose) to push up against the white plastic collet, while you simultaneously pull out on the hose, with a slight twisting motion. Simply slide the weight along the hose and push the weight right up against the collet. Using one of your hands, push the weight up against the plastic collet, and use your other hand to pull and twist out the hose assembly. Works like a charm. You may not even need to use some WD-40, first, on the collet joint. However, if it doesn't come out quickly and smoothly, definitely apply the WD-40, and let it sit for 15 minutes. Then, try again.

Same problem on my 15 year older Koehler kitchen faucet. The faucet has a life time guarantee! Called Koehler there sending me a new one no charge. Bought a new collet and washer-$1.85 on line.

This video was the greatest! Rarely can I find a realistic video that really explains what to do when the going gets tough. This one did. I watched a dozen or more videos that skipped over all the hard parts and made me feel like an idiot. I watched this video and we were able to replace the hose in 10 mimutes or less. The two hardest parts of this little project were the exact two spots that this video spent the time on. Thanks!!!

🚨I DIDNT MENTION IN THE VIDEO, BUT ITS NOT NECESSARY TO SHUT OFF THE WATER TO THE SINK OR TO YOUR HOME. As long as the sink faucet handle is not turned on, you will be fine. But you are more than welcome to turn the water off to the sink or home. Thanks for this. Getting ready to do this repair again and wanted to get a refresher. Weirdly, I didn't have trouble with the collet the first time I replaced this hose but read nightmare stories when ordering it for the second time. First of all... I learned my faucet was a Kohler lol I already ordered an aftermarket hose (59"), and canceled the order. I was able to find the product ($20+ on Amazon) knew what problem to POSSIBLY expect, and fortunately, my hose came off easily without any special tools. The job was done within minutes! Thanks for the great video!

Definitely great video also how to struggle with that little plastic collette is definitely helpful to show cuz no matter what it will come apart and pretty much anyone can do this definitely worth saving the money on if you know how to use a pair of pliers push and pull and twist your faucet head back on you're good to go you can do this thanks for the great video!!!

The little spray of lubricant was money - doesn't seem like much but just to get it moving a bit was excellent. I pulled mine out on top of the counter so I could actually see the collet moving and it helped. Just had to make sure to thread the hose through the faucet clamp rings before reattaching the faucet to the counter. Thanks for the video it was very helpful. I should note that where we are in Canada - Koehler is covered with lifetime parts - just call them up and they send you a new part for free.

I was trying so hard to figure out the WHY on why I am feeling this way. I always put a positive spin on anything that happens to me. But I’m glad to see it’s not too hard to replace. Where did you buy your faucet? Hello Dosam, i bought mine at Home Depot. Yes it is a little disappointing that after 2 years the hose started leaking. But like you said, it is an easy replacement. I haven’t had any issues since then. I would say to get the faucet at either store. I think I just got a dud. Kohler is great brand but sometimes it can be hit or miss. That is true. I don’t know many people that would be comfortable doing that, plus it comes down to liability on RU-vid if I show someone how to use a torch for a quick fix and their house burns down, I could get sued🤣 Ill let someone else handle that one🤣. I have a similar Kohler faucet that was installed 2 years ago with the same problem. I did receive free replacement parts because of the limited warranty. Is there a better design that doesn't require a replacement every 2 years?

I have noticed that quality of parts has been diminishing. Poor design if you ask me but companies make crap so you spend more money on products and calling a plumber. I'm trying to replace mine, but the white collet is breaking apart before budging and the faucet seems to be glued together so I can't take it apart to bring it up. Any advice? Thank you for the great video

Hello Matt. So sorry for the late reply. I hope you got it working. I would say, if you shut the water off to your home. Make sure its on. Make sure there are no kinks in the hose. Make sure the water bill is paid🤣 Just kidding. If still nothing, I would remove the hose, and see if water comes through the pipe fitting and then I would try flowing so,e water through the hose itself to see if there is a blockage inside.
