@@ehqtor Just a little correction due to the real history in the past, Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 has never been a colony from Spain 🇪🇸. You, were part of Spain as an autonomous province until 1898. As far as I know you belonged to the Virreinato of Nueva España.

It wasn't grant province status until 1809 still going back and forth between status until everything was forgotten when it was "CEDED" to the United States after the Spanish American War in 1898. @@ehqtor I do not understand you properly. Please read true history. Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 was founded by Spaniards in 1493 as a part of Virreinato of Nueva España. At the middles of the Century XVIII with the Borbonics Reforms, the Status of the island had changed to be called as “Capitanía General”. After the year that you’ve signalized, they commenced to be a province. On point to clarify the “Colonization” that you’re mentioning was an activity to move people from the Iberian Peninsula to that place and as you really know it commenced to be mixed with the local natives. It was a colonization in therms of territory, not as mercantile as anglos did. Just for clarifying this one ☝🏻

Spain never had colonies, they were provinces, Puerto Ricans were so Spanish with the same rights as Spaniards, Spain never had colonies, like Canary Islands, It´s not a colony, it´s the same country
