N or M? by Agatha Christie | Audiobook | Rewrite Book in Simple for Learning English
Agatha Christie managed to create bright detective characters. In the center of the novel "N or M", there are the Beresfords as the most mature images from the artistic point of view. The reader could meet them in the previous novels "The Secret Adversary" and "Partners in Crime". The actions take place in the 1940s. In their youth, the Beresfords used to rest on the deserved laurels as smart detectives. Now they are tired of inactivity and uselessness. Suddenly Tommy gets a great opportunity to uncover the Nazi agents' atrocities who arranged the murder of Farquhar. Tommy is to take his place in the department. The last words of Farquhar "N or M. Song Susie" are all to start with. Everything has to be a secret for Tuppence but she learns about this new case and follows her husband. So, they begin to act together again.

so well read/acted. thoroughly fun stuff. i did think there were a couple of clues the Beresfords overlooked - but there were others i didn’t see, of course. it’s so funny how “younger” people think we “older” ones behave - like we’re brain groggy and our muscles don’t feel anything. i know some young people who are brain groggy. it has nothing to do with age - (maybe diseases though). 🌷🌱

As always, Agatha Christie, the great mystery writer, keeps her readers on the edge of their seats as they travel with the characters on their dangerous adventures. And all the while wondering how Tuppence and Tommy will get out the mess they got themselves into this time?

This book lacked Christie's usual bigotry and antisemitism. Very refreshing. I did figure out the guilty parties early, but it was enjoyable.

@Sheena345M. If you dislike her so much, I’m surprised you’re here. But since you are, please give us some examples of her hatred of Jews and bigotry.

I never noticed antisemitism. Her dislike of foreigners in characters was simply the way British people thought back then. Today there is much uglier bigotry: In S. Africa against Dutch (or white persons); in Japan where they look down on almost every other race and nation (although they don't kill them as in Africa); and in China where they are terribly bigoted against black persons and so on.

I like N or M. However, it was the first book of hers that I read, which may have made me bias. But I do agree about By the Pricking of My Thumbs and Postern of Fate.

I doubt if Agatha Christie wrote this. I'm not liking the accents or the stereotypes portrayed.

Duh - the accents aren't written in by Christie. They are done by voice actors.
