Hello! Welcome to the next video in my 'learning to love writing again' series! I've been starting to feel that writing bug again recently, but I want to take it slow and make sure I'm building that foundation of writing skills back up before I dive into a huge project again, so short stories seemed like the perfect way to go for now!

I love that you're writing a fantasy short story! It's also cool to hear how you go about improving your own writing and structure your process. I'd love to read it at some point, once you're done 😊 I sooo recognize the point where you said you're questioning whether you enjoy it because you enjoy the process, or enjoy the praise. But I say: Why not both? 😂 I don't write stories, but I regularly do different kinds of very short prompt(?) writing (1-3 pages). For example, I make recaps of D&D sessions in a very bardic prose style with rhyme, alliterations, and jokes that I then perform before each session. On the other other of the spectrum, I somehow also always end up writing speeches at family events, be it birthdays or funerals. Trying to be detailed, personal and layer it all with humour. Plus, I also did some songwriting in the past, where I notice I work best if there's already a person or event to write about. With all of these I definitely enjoy the process. Coming up with poignant or funny lines or verses can be very satisfying on its own. But I can't deny that the small praise I get for them definitely helps too. ☺ I was also wondering if you have any previous work you're comfortable sharing? Be it stories or poetry. No pressure, just curious! 😊 Because I loved your "To All The Books I'll Never Read" poem.

This was so helpful to watch, and really comforting! I'm learning to write creatively (short stories) and I'm filming it for RU-vid too, because I think videos like this that show some of the behind the scenes process/being unsure are so important for beginners to see!!

Grace, I love this video so much!! It’s exactly what I needed right now. I’m in a similar place where I’ve fallen out of the habit of writing and I feel to intimated to get back into it. This was really inspiring to see! I hope it motivates me to get back on it. Not sure if it would be considered fantasy or horror but I really enjoyed Margaret Atwood’s short story “Lusus Naturae.”

I used to love writing and did it a lot. Then I got burned out, not only with writing but school and everything in general. Somehow writing is the only thing I can't seem to get back into even though I would love to finish my book. I just got too critical with myself I think and it frustrates me so much. I do really want to try again though.
