Why do I need Barometer?
@WindowsillNepenthes
@WindowsillNepenthes 3 года назад
@@clintparsons3989 The thing is I have no idea how to use the info the barometer provides. But for a windowsill only I think you don't need to. ;)

I'm a new nepenthes owner. Yes I got mine from a local nursery but I love it nun the less. Thank you for the information your video's have provided. I look forward to seeing my nepenthes flourish :)

Remy! I have my first Nepenthes. Just like @Red Menzies below, it is only a Bloody Mary from a garden center, but I love it! Thanks to your channel, she has a nice windowsill, heat pad, grow light, fan and all the love I can offer her! :-) Thank you so much for all your content and advice, I feel confident that my plant will do well!

Thanks for the kind words! And there is not such things a "only a Bloody Mary" ;) Beginners hybrids are great 👍 (I wouldn't want to learn driving on a Ferrari!)

@@WindowsillNepenthes ahhhh you are so right! If I can look after "Mary" well, I may get her a brother or sister in the future. I have started re-watching you back catalogue of videos, just so I haven't missed anything! Thank you again for all your time and knowledge brother. Also thank you for responding, it is exciting when a celebrity replies to your messages :-D

im a outdoor, window and tent grower ive been using a raspberry pi with terrarium pi automation software and use dht22 humidity/temperature sensors. the pro to the software is you can basically mimic climate of any location in the world inside of a tent and keep an eye on things even when your not home the con is its a fully wired system and the same thing could be achieved with a less bulky smart plug system.
@WindowsillNepenthes
@WindowsillNepenthes 3 года назад
That sounds like a system that manage humidity and temperature automatically for you, right? Not just monitoring it.

Hey Remy thanks for the recommendation! I got one of these sensors and they’re pretty cool. I grow all of my plants under grow lights and have to cool them at night by opening windows and using a fan so this was a great way to see how humidity fluctuates and how well I was cooling them down at night.

Great to hear! Quick question: Since you got the sensor, did you learned something that made you "change something" (like me trying to quite on spraying? lol)
@goldengod8275
@goldengod8275 3 года назад
@@WindowsillNepenthes I definitely don’t spray as often as I did before. It only shows up as a small spike on the humidity graph. I now leave a small humidifier on the lowest setting going all the time

For this purpose i bought myself a "Govee Wifi Thermometer and Hygrometer" that does exactly what yours does, temp, RH, alarms for predefined ranges, exporting datas on PC. But the most important is that it doesnt require a gateaway. It connects to the home Wi-Fi router and this way i can check the data from all around the world. At 10 mins distance dats refresh rate. (or manually if you go in the app and refresh) And more than that it shows real time data if u are in bluetooth range with ur phone. Plus a nice smartphone Widget to check the data from the home screen.

Also question for you Remi: how much do you think daily heat spikes affect the plants? My daily temp average is ~22° C, but there is a heat spike till...~ 33°C of 2-3 hours during the day when the sun hits the windows, then it rapidly cools of back to 25-22 till the evening. Do you think this 2-3 hrs of heat spike affect the plants even tho the 24 hrs average is ~22°C ? (im expecting even higher peaks during the following summer months)
@WindowsillNepenthes
@WindowsillNepenthes Год назад
@Constantin Boca I think it's fine. Does the sun reach the sensor? Or it's 33°c in the shadow?
@ConstantinBoca
@ConstantinBoca Год назад
@@WindowsillNepenthes hmm not sure, i will pay attention to this. It might get full contact with the sun on the windowsill but idk how is that relevant as long as the plants get the same treatment.

I have a small bluetooth hygrometer but never thought to write down the data. Smart idea. Do you have a google sheet doc available for us to download to start collecting our own data and viewing graph?
@WindowsillNepenthes
@WindowsillNepenthes 3 года назад
Good idea! Here is the link: docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Z3v_kImrxtth4Tq-nKUzkzRpKQS3U9r6ge7PNA9MMPI/edit?usp=sharing Keep in mind I put 4 week for every months to be easier to manage, and the temp is in Celsius but you can change the graphic to show 3 digit like degree Fahrenheit. I never did share a sheet so maybe duplicate it before putting your temp so nobody change your data?

Hi do you have any cultural information on how to plant small Nepenthes out of Vitro flasks? I'm considering buying a flask of Nepenthes Jamban, but unsure how to go about planting and looking afterwards 🤔 . Have small greenhouse to keep them in and found no information on Internet, only potting ready established plants. Would be most grateful for any help. Thank you again Peter

I don't have experience in TC unflasking, but a friend did that many time. I'll interview him as soon as possible, stay tuned! ;)
