Thank You. Got some good tips from Your video. Hope it will increase a traffic to my site even tho I am not monetised / business oriented (and it will probably stay that way) - its a hobby more than anything. Cheers.
Great tutorial!! I just wanna clarify: -> for the same domain, if i open a subdomain for a new website, do i have to go through the same process all over again? TQ
You mentioned the to not change the permalinks when the website is older with some traffic already , are you referring to the whole website or just older blog posts ( that had different permalink setting ) will loose visibility ?
Both, if you change the permalink for your site or an old post without redirecting the post to the new location then its highly likely that you will lose traffic.
Taking this video step by step and love it so far. Question...it looks like we had already created the console but we had it using www and under wordpress there is no www. Do those need to be the same? I do show some date under performance so I know it's picking up from somewhere.
The most common reason would be if you are using WordPress.com. If you are then we would recommend taking a look at our article below: www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/self-hosted-wordpress-org-vs-free-wordpress-com-infograph/
If you mean there are bad links on your site itself then that could mean you are hacked, you would want to take a look at our article below: www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/beginners-step-step-guide-fixing-hacked-wordpress-site/ If you are getting backlinks from bad sites then we would recommend looking into the disavow tool for the bad links.
If you mean you want to change your theme then we would recommend taking a look at our article below! www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-properly-change-a-wordpress-theme/
I updated the preference to non WWW and now I have SEO issues where they are showing up as duplicate pages/content. Can you please make a video or tell me how to fix the issue. Thanks!
IF you have updated the URL in AIOSEO then we would recommend clearing any caching you have for your site so it notices the canonical URL change which would remove the duplicate content issue as it is updated in search engines.
If you mean backlinks then we have our guide below that you may find helpful: www.wpbeginner.com/glossary/backlinks/ If you mean the links on your site then we have a guide on how to add links in our article below: www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/beginners-guide-on-how-to-add-a-link-in-wordpress/
Hello, thanks for the great video; when I put in the sitemap in the google search counsel it shows "could not fetch" am I doing something wrong or do I have to wait a few days for that to change? Thanks again.
Question: I have a website with numerous product reviews, with affiliate links to external websites (mostly to Amazon) where my readers can purchase the products. Should I NoFollow these affiliate links?
I'm using the premium plan for wordpress and SEO tools isn't provided unless I upgrade to business one.. is there any alternative without upgrading to business plan? Kinda tight on the budget here
Instead of upgrading to the business plan, we would recommend taking a look at converting your site to a WordPress.org site instead. You can see the differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org in our article below: www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/self-hosted-wordpress-org-vs-free-wordpress-com-infograph/
@@wpbeginner okay, thanks and how did you make the language choice possible on this video, with the correct audio channel linked to the right language name?
Curious why is the meta data when I have it set to excerpt it pulls the entire post of characters? Instead of 160 it was almost 5,000 characters. If meta data is no longer important, AIOSEO needs to take it off or put a note saying it is no longer used and take it off in the scoring. This has been this way for a long, long time. I have to tweak it to 160 characters every post I do. Is there a setting I am missing?
If you mean on Google then Google sometimes split tests showing more or less information. The Meta information is still helpful for search engines to understand your content.
No, I mean what you were talking about with AIOSEO video demonstration. When using AIOSEO I have the meta data set in the general setting to "excerpt" on Wordpress. The excerpt should be an excerpt, but it pulls my entire post almost 5,000 characters. AIOSEO score is in red as it is over the 160-character mark thereby the AIOSEO true score is lower. I then delete the excerpt tag and tweak it to be exactly 160 characters. If the Meta Data is no longer a requirement for the AIOSEO True scoring. It needs to say so and the scoring adjusted. As it has been pulling the entire content for a long time. Is it an AIOSEO software glitch?
If you do not see a permalink option, then you are likely on WordPress.com while our guides are for WordPress.org sites. You can see more on the differences between the two in our guide below! www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/self-hosted-wordpress-org-vs-free-wordpress-com-infograph/
hi im a beginner and i just made a website for my own business . just wanted to know if this same checklist would work for my ecommerce website or there are other things too that i have to look at ? thankyou
The recommendations would still work for an ecommerce site but you would likely want to take a look at our guide below that is more focused on ecommerce: www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/ultimate-woocommerce-seo-guide/
Sir I am making a website on hello elementor theme but unable to add variations on product page would you please help me how can I do? I use variation swatches and other plugin but don't know how to call that variations in custom made product page from elementor
For this specific question we would ask you reach out to Elementor directly as they would be the ones able to assist you. You can reach out to their support on the page below: elementor.com/support/
That would require a few plugins, we would recommend taking a look at the article below from memberpress. memberpress.com/blog/start-niche-dating-site/
If you do not have these settings and do not have a permalink setting then you are likely using WordPress.com in which case we would recommend taking a look at our article below! www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/self-hosted-wordpress-org-vs-free-wordpress-com-infograph/
If you are able to log into your site using wp-login.php then you would go to your permalinks and revert them. You may also want to take a look at our guide below! www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-create-custom-permalinks-in-wordpress/#redirect-permalink
If you're looking for ways to prevent spam, we would recommend taking a look at our article below! www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/vital-tips-and-tools-to-combat-comment-spam-in-wordpress/
I am sorry but I am a beginner and your video is NOT for beginners! You are not giving actual examples to make it easy to understand- like for example the permalink- what to put after the site address where is says "sample" etc. Your terms and the speed in which your video is- can be understood by more advanced crowd. I didn't get much benefit from this video.
Thank you for your feedback, for now, we would recommend taking a look at our written article that goes a bit more in-depth on what we explain in our video. Our written article can be found below: www.wpbeginner.com/wordpress-seo/
You can add links that are not nofollow to your site, you would want to ensure you are getting more from that link than you are losing if you decide to do that.
Just as an FYI, if when doing the site map, after pasting the sitemap.xml - if the status says "Couldn't Fetch" just add a / at the beginning. So /sitemap.xml and it should fix it. thought I would save everyone the 15 min google research when it happens to someone else.
