I love your videos !!!. Files, reminders and notes are so underrated !!. They are so useful and the way you explain them is awesome. I will enjoy a lot when I retire my iphone 7 plus and purchase a 16 pro Max Thanks Dylan
Yes!!! You will get so much more out of the new phone. The iPhone 7 is outdated and does not have many of the latest features since it is not able to upgrade to the latest OS. Let me know how I can help!!!
I'm so glad to hear that! When I first discovered the columns feature… I thought it was useless. And then I played around a little bit and it has changed almost everything I do with Reminders. Super valuable, super powerful, and completely under the radar. Thanks for watching, let me know if there's any topics you'd like to see me cover.
Awesome video. Best presentation on Reminders columns I’ve come across. I see many potential applications where I can use these concepts. Thanks for sharing.
Yeah, I was blown away when I fully understood how to use it. I've re-organized most of my lists to take advantage of columns, and it has replaced my use of Trello, Notion, Monday and a handful of other apps. Thanks for watching!
So glad you’re loving the feature! 😊 While Apple Reminders doesn’t have a built-in column view for tasks by day, you could try using the List View and create a custom list for each day of the week. Alternatively, using a third-party app like Things or Todoist might give you more flexibility with viewing tasks by day in a column-like format. I'm thrilled that you're getting so much value from these videos. I know that Apple makes amazing tools, but they're really terrible about telling people how to use them or why they matter. Keep watching and I'm sure you'll learn more! Also, if you want to step up your game even further I teach live classes twice a month and would be happy to invite you to join a class for free to see what it's like. For sure that is another way to do it. Before columns, that was 100% how I did it... but I found that the more I used reminders and the more I used tags, the longer my list of tags became and the more the system broke down. Columns is pretty simple and easy, and very visual (for us visual people)... not that using tags isn't a good solution, but sometimes it depends on the situation.
I have not used Reminders very much and have never tried the columns view. I tend to use Calendar and Notes for this type of organizational tasks. I am intrigued by this and wonder if something is set up in Reminders on a Mac, how well does the column view show up when synced to iCloud and displayed or edited on the limited screen space of an iPhone or iPad?
Reminders and columns work extremely well on the iPad. And fairly well on the iPhone although it doesn't have enough screen space and doesn't allow you to turn the phone horizontal to make it wider. On the phone I tend to use sections rather than columns (which is similar but doesn't allow you to move things left and right). I'm not sure how it works with reminders on iCloud (via the web) because I never use it there but I would be surprised if it didn't work just like it does on the other devices. I know that many people like notes and the calendar… And I do too, but Reminders is a much more powerful tool for task management. In the upcoming new operating systems that will be released in September reminders will get integrated into calendars for people who like to use their tasks that way. I find reminders to be one of my most valuable apps, and worth exploring! Hope that helps! Thanks for watching!
That's my goal! Solving problems you didn't know you had. One of the biggest problems with Apple devices is that most people don't know what they don't know, so they don't take advantage of the phenomenal tools Apple creates. Glad I could help! And don't forget to add me to your Christmas gift list. Just kid
RE: Grocery Lists - I really hope they roll out upgrading that to also include the price of the item that we can input. I been using Out of Milk app for YEARS (free) because I can also include the unit price and # of items I need so it estimates my grocery total. I have added in the tax rate too to get total with taxes. I love this feature right now in this economy so I can help keep my grocery budget intact!
That’s awesome that you have set up your system like that. Super smart. I wouldn’t hold your breath for Apple to implement those features, but I applaud you for getting it set up for how you work!!
I’ll be using columns for my books. I can sort them by author, or genre, or platform (kindle, audiobook, home library), or or anticipated releases. I already do this on a spreadsheet by why not try it out in reminders? 🤷🏻♀️
That's exactly what it is. Rather than using Monday or Notion or Trello, you can now use Reminders to do the same thing. It is completely replaced my use of those other apps and many more…
I have been binge watching all your video's that have Reminders information' they are all great and this video has given me All kinds of new ideas, but I still haven't found my answer. Can you tell me where or how to move something on my reminders list to a different list. example: "spot clean carpet" to my list for home,; cleaning list? I thought maybe the columns might be it but that didn't work.
There's a couple of ways to do it. Unfortunately, I wish it was easier. From the computer you can just click and drag from any list to any other list… Or you can click the little "i" and change the list from there. From the phone, you have to click on the specific reminder, then click on the "i" and you can change it in that section. I keep hoping they will enable either right click on the Mac, or Press And Hold on the phone and iPad… But so far they haven't.
I hear you, Mike! Having columns in Notes would definitely be a game-changer. While Apple hasn’t added that feature yet, you can use tables to create a column-like format. If you want more ideas on using Notes effectively, check out this recent live broadcast we did on Notes: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WTeRKYwzX-0.html And feel free to join one of our weekly live broadcasts for more tips and to ask questions live! 😊
It's a relatively new function, and my hope is that in the long run, it will get some flexibility, allowing you to sort different stores or different aisles. But it's still better than doing it manually, even though it's imperfect.
Now if only we could have a Costco Shopping List that was location sensitive and would group the items by their specific location with THAT Costco. I swear they use AI to plan the daily reorganizing of the their product placement based on what I purchased last time.
Yeah, Costco can be really complicated. I just spent my Saturday there… And there's no way to know what aisle anything will be on even though I was just in that store a month ago. I had to go up and down every aisle. I would love it if Apple allowed the grocery organization to be customized by certain companies like target, Walmart or Costco... but that's a feature will just have to keep waiting for.
