When you look at the specs for building shapes able to withstand cyclone-force winds, you'll find that the best shape is the one with no corners, i.e. the monolithic dome, or half- sphere. This is for the obvious reason that the upward push of cyclonic winds has nowhere to hook itself onto and lift the roof.
