I jumped on here today to kinda get lost in videos. I got news this morning my father passed away last night at the age of 62. He died while doing something we always love to do together and that's camping when he had a heart attack. You guys always put a smile on my face with your FNA videos. Thank you for the cheer ups.
So sorry for your loss. We are glad we can help cheer you up. 😊 Happy to hear he was doing what he loved. We are here for you if you need to reach out. ❤ I lost my dad almost 5 years ago now and it wasn't easy but I can tell you he would be happy to see Alex and I enjoying our lives out here on the road. And he would be even more happy to see us on his big screen TV lol. Best wishes to you and your family celebrate who he was and keep living for him and yourself. 🤗❤🧡💛
yes!! i have the russian webasto and so many of my other friends went with it too. it’s authentic & safe. been running mine for 6 months and no issues :) miss you guys💕
Great to hear that it has been 6 months with out a problem it is a webasto so we aren't worried and we are really glad we went this route. We miss you too Abby!! Stay safe and we will see you in a few months when we are headed back from Alaska.
Not cheap, my loves, FRUGAL. Frank is fearless...I love that. AND he can give a masterclass once he's perfected installation. That was an excellent installation, Frank. Well done!
I 'really' cheaped out 18 months ago and bought the $150 made in China clone, and I have to say, it still works perfectly! When it goes wrong in any major way it will just get thrown in the bin and replaced with another one lol (no point repairing when $150 new!)
We had the same one in our last van and loved it. The difference for us this time was we wanted to hook up directly to our gas tank. Unfortunately they don't make the clone in gasoline so this was the cheapest option with out having a second fuel type.
Awesome, now y'all can stay nice and warm and cozy too. I might invest in one later on, at least before whenever I would go northward bound, especially the northeast where my dad and I have family, and if whenever the US and Canada borders open up again so I I can travel and visit those beautiful places there too, and other places in the US I haven't been to yet that might be cold😁 to bad they don't make something like that for an AC unit in van's like ours too😁, especially for here in Odessa TX where summer weather is around those up 90°F-100°F+ temps (naming at least one high desert area anyway that I live in, I know even Arizona, and other desert/tropical hot weather states) but for now, still working on my van conversion build a bit at a time, I'm the only one doing the physical work with no outside help, plus caregiving for my dad, running errands, etc (and if weather is good and permitting too). Love y'all, be blessed and safe too 💖🤗🐾💖🤗🤗💖from me and my dad in Odessa TX 🤠🤗💖🤗🤠
Hey Barbara!! Definitely get one before winter or even Fall, you never know when a cold snap is going to sneak up on you. I love that you have so many exciting travel destinations planned. There is so much to see but you're right you have to be prepared for anything 🙂 I wish they had AC units like this too. All the ones we've seen take so much energy. Why can't they work off diesel or gas! Frankie would know but he's not here to ask right now haha We are so excited for your build progress. Can't wait to see the finished product!!! oxoxoxo So many blessings to you and your Dad! Alex
@@FnAVanLife hey Alex and Frankie and Paco🤗💖🤗💖🤗🐾 Good news, I got those stickers and your thank you card too💖🤗 paco is just so cute 🤗💖🐾 and, somewhat bad news mixed with good reasons and choices needs to be done. My work on my van conversion build is on a temporary hold/delay at this time. Sadly my dad gotten sick Friday morning, it's to do with his preexisting health conditions, he was in the hospital Friday and released Saturday, he is ok since, but still sick. Because I'm not a certified CNA, Nurse and doctor, and be his his caregiver only since his wife passed away,I'm limited on what more healthcare I could do for him. He and already talked and agreed that he'll be better in the VA retirement nursing home for nursing care, etc due to both his current health conditions and the bad conditions of his old house is not good for him. He is finally come to terms this old house of his is not good for his health wellbeing and safety overall. Until whenever he finally gets his new house build for him, he'll be staying at the VA retirement nursing home once we get it established for him. Not sure when yet, but I know this will happen soon for his best and more than I can do for him also. When he goes, I'll be returning to my former job, working on my van conversion build, taking care of other important matters for my dad in the home front for him, especially the issues with getting his old house demolished and new house build for him too. I'm only been doing tid bits of working on my van conversion build here and there this past week, and in between when I have some free moments to do so. I'm hoping to also have my van done before this coming winter in the meantime. Help me keep my dad in prayer too. Love y'all, even though I haven't met y'all in person, I love y'all like another brother and sister too 💖🤗💖🤗 sending hugs love and prayers daily to y'all, be blessed and safe also🤗💖🤗💖🐾💖🤗
Gettin after it!! Good job, Frankie!! Keeping your family warm😊. Alex, it’s good to choose a mate who has good sense!! 😄😄. Hoping y’all get to Alaska soon…sending you both love and hugs🧡and give Pacorific smooches from Aunt Jana❤️
Thank you so much Aunt Jana!!! haha We are loving how this unit works and I (Alex) am so grateful that Frankie is so handy and can take on projects like this (even Russian ones lol) with ease! So much love! xo
Used to sail big boats in the Great Lakes years ago. Webasto heaters made the nights comfortable! I didn't see one or hear you talk about it, but please get a CO detector if you haven't already.
Dude, what is that blue tank you have strapped to the underside of your van? Isn’t that pretty low? You guys have great attitudes and great filming! You’ll grow as you go with RU-vid
Thats our grey tank C. Wright Knuckle! Only fell off once haha 😄 honestly its been great, we leave it open most of the time to earth drain and only close it when its not appropriate to drain naturally. And thank you for the love!! We're doing our best 👍😊 xo Alex
Good job. Glad you used those rubber hangers. I was a little worried when you said you would put it through the little holes in the frame😂. Hope you are having tons of fun in the van & thanks for sharing a great money saving tip.
Thank you so much St Green! The heater is working great and we're nice and warm and it hasn't broken on us yet haha Glad we could save you a few bucks!
Great to hear it is working out great. We are really happy with it so far and I'm sure we will be using it in Alaska this summer for those cold nights.
I'm working on installing the exact same heater as you guys right now, also in my PM! I broke one of those tiny metal female plugs for the electric hookup to the fuel pump :'( Now I'm ordering the part from a UK website lol, the North American Air tops have totally different wire hookups as far as I can tell. Waaahhhh. Thanks so much for making this video! It is helping me a lot!
Great vid. But as far as the plastic connections in the fuel system i would definitely buy American or premium brand or reinforce everything. Or at least have some kind of fire suppression built in. I have had bad luck with similar cheap fittings on snowmobile fuel injection and even low pressure fuel tank connections for carb machines.
It needed another strap after a month of traveling. Tried getting away with one but it needed to. Check out our tik tok and you will see what happened lol.
@@FnAVanLife cool. Few things age us faster than the sun, and metastatic melanoma is no joke. A friend didn’t wear much sunscreen and he’s paying for it now with mm. I’m glad you are using it, wouldn’t want either of you going through that. ❤️
We chose it because we wanted a gas fired heater instead of diesel that we could tap directly to our tank and not have to carry an additional fuel. We actually bought the chinese one and sold it because it was too complicated to figure out where the tank was going.
I got the same one a year ago and am having 2 issues with it. The HD controller doesn't show the correct temperature. It shows temps consistently 10 degrees too cold, so I adjust it in my head. Also, about 25% of the time, it shuts off after 20 minutes with a H03 code (not a code recognized by the manual or any technician). When I restart it, it always restarts and continues fine. When I complained to the guy who sold it to me, he told me there was no warranty outside of EU, as written right on the unit. So buyer beware! It still works but with issues.
how odd! I'm glad to hear it's still working but it's a bummer the thermostat is having issues and you get occasional error codes. Our Chinese diesel would do something similar and we would just wait for it to restart and it would be fine too. I guess that's the price you pay for not paying the price of the crazy expensive units. Although I hear people have issues with those too! In any case thank you for the warning and we so appreciate you being here Miranda. xo Alex
@@nomadthetraveler5782 I did look into it and most of the result are you can use it but you have to be sure one you buy is meant for both also it isn't recommended. Regardless I feel really safe with the choice we made and if that heater works for you and other that is wonderful. We just paid 500 dollars more lol.
@@FnAVanLife As long as you're happy with it. I guess that's what counts. lol I'm happy with mine, as are the other two people that went in on our investment together with us. What I'm not happy about is the results from my double surgery back in January.
The thing that goes on the air intake is actually a filter - keeps debris out of the combustion chamber. If you drive on super dusty roads - or maybe just every so often, you're going to want to check that it isn't getting loaded up and choking off the intake air for your combustion. There is a separate silencer that goes on the exhaust - looks like a mini, flattened muffler. The installation looks good. If you didn't get a silencer in your kit, I have an extra. Happy to send it to you. Just shoot me an email to djpwilson -at- gmail -dot- com
@@Itsjcold0 Really? An incomplete Russian kit? I realize a Yugo was a car but why buy one? My brother did and it was a mistake. Just as all cars not not safe and reliable, I feel like not all devices that are heaters are safe.
This is the exact same heater as it is made by the same company no differences it is missing a metal plate, ductwork, and muffler but it is connect to the metal of the van. There is no need for that part in this install. It is not a fire hazard since all the materials that would risk a fire are cut back if you put it directly on wood that would be a concern.
@@FnAVanLife when you are 60 you err on the side of safety. Being a firefighter has a lot to do with it as well. My comment is only of concern for you guys. If the quality is good, then it’s all good!
@@chrisp7652 Yeah it is a webasto heater so quality hasn't changed just a few parts are missing compared to the American styled one. I am also a qualified person when it comes to installing Hvac/heating equipment I installed and started up tons of massive equipment in NYC and have a ton of certifications as well as finished trade school. I was in local 638 steamfitter union and I'm actually still a part of the union. Just to give you some background information.
it says cheapest gasoline heater not diesel lol. we loved the chinese diesel heater but we want to be hooked directly to our tank on the van. Our van is Gas.
@@FnAVanLife Bad choice... both on getting gasoline and connecting it directly to your van's fuel tank. Besides, from what I understand... you can set them all up for whatever you want. Gasoline or diesel.
We actually really love having the heater tapped to the tank and had it on our last van too. That way you don't have to have two fuel storage containers (space and time saver plus its easy to know how much fuel you have). As for swapping fuels, we don't know about that. Why don't you throw some gasoline in one of those Chinese diesel heaters and let us know how it goes!
