Great video. One additional tip re. "noise" I improved my noise from average to low by simply using the HDMI extender that comes with most Firesticks. It's not as neat as plugging the stick directly into the tv, but there are 2 distinct advantages - improved noise (in my case, at least) and better cooling of the stick (which gets fairly hot during use). Give it a shot and see if you get better results!
Going to upgrade my router to the one in this video. Excited about it my house is 1800 square foot but three levels. Hope this improves my football games I like to watch thank you for the video!
Thank you Mr. CC. This video will help me tremendously. I'm off to Amazon to look at the router you recommend. I have a 2400 sq. Ft house that has 2 seperate wings with the common areas in between. My bedroom is one whole wing and has brick walls. It used to be a garage and a breezeway, I think. My signal in there is terrible. You are such a big help to me and have been ever since I cut the cord. I hope you're doing well. You seem to have lost some weight and I really hope that it was intentional and not due to illness.
Hi. Thank you so much for this video. I appreciate it. Thank you so much for your hard work. Can you please help step by step make a video on how to connect ring cameras to your firestick🙏
Glad you are feeling better. We have a xb 6 modem from xfinity, we have tried their xb 7 and the new 8t and don't care for them. We have a router from Netgear also. So we have two different WiFi connections. We are going to order this Mesh system today. I just need to be clear of the setup. Am I correct in assuming that the new Mesh router will tap into my existing Netgear router therefore I can eliminate my modem from xfinity and cancelling out our $17 a month rental? This video was so helpful and now I'm just waiting on your reply before we order. Thank you again for all you do!!
Router gives you the WiFi signal, modem give you internet. So you would eliminate the other router, not the modem. Yes, if you are renting their router, get rid of that bill.
I love your videos and all the help you give us. I need something but I'm not sure what? My signal is high -46. My noise is low -92. My speed is 6.49. I have a lot of buffering. I use cinema HD mostly. Is there a speed booster or something that can help me? Thank you!
Very helpful video. One question, when checking my network status, using the advanced option. I have a high signal to noise ratio. Is there a way to get a low low signal to noise ratio?
Thank you for these tips! Question… When I go to network, select my default router, and click play, I do not get a speed test screen. Instead, I just get some green checkmarks that say my connection is good. How do I get to a speed test?
My Disney plus shortcut button on my firestick doesn’t seem to work? The Hulu, the Netflix and the Prime works fine! It the latest version and updated? Any suggestion? Love your show! Please let me know!
When following your directions and pushing play my firestick doesn’t show the same screen menu options. Is it because I’m using an older version firestick, and if so should I upgrade to the newer model to increase streaming performance. Thanks & I hope you’re doing well.
I have a problem setting up my 2nd gen cube to control my cable box. When I go to the add equipment menu I find it doesn’t list the cable satellite options. Any idea why these option are missing?
Good question. I would have you do a few things like the 60 second unplug from the wall, or the secret remote codes. We have videos that will walk you through these steps.
Think about it. Speed is most important when using a VPN. If you use the recommended server, it's the same server that's recommended to everyone. Anytime you have too many users on a server, it will be slower. If you simply click non-recommended servers and run a speed test, you will see how much faster it is. We have VPN videos that talk about this and even show you speed tests on different servers. Might want to check them out.
All of the apps that I use like Netflix, Hula, Prime Video, RU-vid and Tubi don't buffer. But, I have a 3rd party app that has everything I want but it buffers. This app has all the channels cable has and PPV and all the sports channels movie channels and every local channel in the United States. What do you suggest?
I have a 1st generation Fire TV Cube. I plugged an ethernet cable (from my mesh router) into the ethernet adapter and the micro-usb from the adapter into the Cube. When I go to Settings>Network, am I supposed to see an option for wired vs wi-fi? I don't see that and the status test says I'm still connected to wifi. I "think" the ethernet cable might be damaged or disconnected somewhere - would that explain why I'm still on wi-fi?
I really would have to see how you have it set up. The way I read what you did makes sense. Should automatically switch to wired and you should see a more stable signal (have you done the settings network test)?
@@CuriosityCafe I tried another ethernet cable and it did automatically switch to the wired network, so I guess the first cable was bad. However, the hard-wired network speed test indicates 18 Mbs and I get 29 Mbs on the mesh network with High Signal and Low Noise, so I guess I'm better off to stick with the mesh!
I have my router/modem in my bedroom, but my TV is in my living room. If I place the modem and router near my smart TV, in my LR, will the 3rd party links stop buffering?
Most of those don’t work great. On Patreon we listed the top 10 free apps for the firestick. RU-vid does not allow this information, so we put it there for you to access any time. Enjoy
I could use some advice. I’m experiencing buffering on one particular BBC app. I checked my internet speed through my fire stick as per your instructions. I got a download speed of 0.46 Mbps. I then ran a speed check on my iPad on a couple of other sites and got an average of 32Mbps - more than enough. Can you tell me what this differential means? Does it mean my Firestick is working badly?
Could be a number of things. Most likely your firestick isn't pickup up the signal well, or your ISP is throttling it as "streaming" They do this a lot. A VPN will solve this problem. I use: expressvpn.com/curiositycafe
I have a question. This has happened a couple times. I’ll be watching a show then later I go to switch to another app it will come on, but no picture, just the sound. I try going to other apps and the same thing, just sound no picture. I pull the plug, to reboot, plus back in and it’s fine. What could be causing this? Just started a couple days ago.
Hi C.C., I need some help from U and/or the community; how or what is the best way for me to watch movies with the Korean Actor Lee Min Ho in them?? Does not have to be associated with the Fire Stick?? Thx.. ♠W.G.
Sadly the mesh router is no longer available. But this one would do the trick: amzn.to/3Z4byDL and here is an extender that works well with this router system: amzn.to/3yN3cWv
Hi I need help. My Wi-Fi have signal strength high and noise is low also and I can see RU-vid videos without buffering using my Amazon fire stick but the channels are not at all loading what will be the reason . I am using tcl google tv
Not sure if your tv can accept 3rd party apps. That’s why people add firesticks and android boxes to their smart TVs. I don’t even use the Sony interface for anything on our Sony tvs
Make sure your firetv is unlocked, have downloader, download aptoide tv, then search for startup. Those are all the modded android apps to work with firesticks. We can walk you through it if you are on patreon and need more help
If you have buffering on Hulu when getting 300 mbps on your firestick I’m speed test (must be on device) then it’s Hulu. They have been known to buffer
I have Xfinity cable modem. I pay for their fastest service. The speed test came back with a speed of 15.11 Mbps. Signal strength is high -65 dBm Noise Average - 72 dBm. Channel utilization Low ( 11 % ) I was concerned when the installer put their modem in the basement of the house. As I said, I am paying for the fastest service they offer. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
You are using their router I’m guessing. Upgrade your router. That determines the WiFi speed and strength. This router in the video will make a difference. You have reset your equipment right? I do it every couple weeks to keep good performance
@@CuriosityCafe you are correct, I am using there equipment. I looked up the modem and extender's you listed . I am going to start with those. Thank you very much !
Yes, you either need a mesh router or have the router in a more central (not enclosed) environment. I recommend mesh. I upgraded last year and it's a miracle worker
My Cube says download speed 35 (on wifi, same room as router, which is only half my wired speed... my router is rubbish) and should be able to run 4k video. Why does yours only say 1080p? Strange
VPN are the cheapest way to protect yourself agains hackers. I can't tell you how many people have been hacked from leaving an open connection while streaming movies and tv. I think it's like pennies a day. Sorry you can't afford it. I would give you one if I could.
my question would be this.. If Im using one of those 3rd party iptv apps and it works 99% at my house but only works 65% at a friends house or 50% at another friends house.. is it still the app? if all three homes have similar download speeds vie speedtest &/or the fire stick speedtest.
@@CuriosityCafe thats what we thought too but we run the amazon free speedtest on all three places and just ran that firestick speedtest and the speeds are still similar. oh well. it is what it is I guess, thanks for the reply tho
You did the network quality test? Not just the speed test? Noise and stability is more important than speed. We have videos on how to do that on the firestick
@@CuriosityCafe yes... Im hard wired (cube) BUT.. I might be using an older CAT5 so I ordered new CAT 8s.. then I will see.. I really DONT have a lot of buffering but theres enough that I want to remedy it... thank you for responding
My friend has a Visio TV with you Tube Tv built in. The instructions for clearing cache require turning off TV and waiting 30 seconds. He found that this sort of worked but repeating the process a number of times improved it more. Any way to see what cache is hanging on through the first restarts?
Firestick process is different. TVs need to be reset once in a while (unplugged from the wall). But cache is only and issue if you are adding multiple apps and low on storage
We have a video on this subject on the channel. Just keep in mind, nothing good is "free" they have to pay their servers somehow. Most free ones are only trials or limited data. If you want a real one that you can use on multiple devices at speeds that will actually be able to stream. Then ExpressVPN.com/curiositycafe is the best option. Vpns are cheap. Don't make the mistake of going free or cheaper.
I've been trying to delete apps from my Firestick but it wont let me. It seems like it's doing it but it just keeps doing it for a long time and never finishes. Any ideas?
Hard to say without more info. I don't know how often you update or restart your firestick, how often you clear cache and background apps. All could cause it to not work properly. Luckily we have videos on all this on our channel
There you go. That's why if you re-watch the video we write on the screen if you are hard wired this does not apply... right in the video. You certainly can't check your wireless connection quality if you aren't wireless.
I keep getting server has died because people are using it at the same time and sorry for the inconvenience. This has been happening for the past 2 weeks. I have 4k so is it simply outdated? Thanks
Yes, and you will. Nothing you can do if you are using those free hack apps. There are better ones than the one you are using though that buffer much less. We have reviews on them on patreon as well as how to get them.
No because I honestly don't know what it is. I have a orbi rbr 10 system with a new high speed modem and that's about my knowledge. I added downloader and viewtv to my fire stick and was told to reboot if buffering but don't work.
I have a mesh system and have a new firestick in living room ,it has that feature and it says signal strength is 60 dbm and noise is low. Should I put the newer one in bedroom to check my strength in bedroom? Always thought this firestick was flawed
2nd gen (if the oldest version) might not have the new features. It's part of the latest update and old OS might not have it. You could do what you said. Keep in mind, new sticks are on sale all the time for around $20. Worth keeping an eye open for sales. I just bought 10 for giveaways last week on their half off sale on amazon.
99% are the app's fauilt. I would need more info (which app, your wifi speed and strength, which router you are using etc). Reach out on patreon for private help. We can stop the buffering for you.
Signal strength:high Noise:low The only app that has buffering videos is prime video. I can’t play any of the movies I purchased without it freezing every couple of minutes. All other apps are smooth. I’ve tried reset to factory, restarting modem and router, clearing cache and data from everything and nothing works. Brand new Firestick, purchased less than a week ago. Suggestions?
Then you should not have any buffering issues with prime. You have some other issues with performance. Do you have the new 4k max or an older firestick?
I have the newest version. Fire TV Stick 4K, brilliant 4K streaming quality, TV and smart home controls, free and live TV. So do you think it’s just a faulty device? I only have buffering on the Prime Video app, especially when I’m trying to watch something that I own. The Home Screen sometimes doesn’t load everything either.
Then in your case, it’s the source. Many times is the WiFi or router that people have (if Netflix or paramount are buffering). Either way, easy fix as you know
I don't know what you are asking. This video (since you didn't watch) shows people how to improve their firestick experience by helping with their router, internet signal and internal processes. Most services do NOT buffer unless you are using 3rd party apps. If you are buffering on everything, then we help viewers with that. This video is only a few minutes long. Better to watch rather than waste your time commenting simply based on the title of a video.
