Thank You..Tony Holiday and Why Logic Pro Rules are my go to gurus for everything Logic you’ve helped us on countless situations. Thanks Bro keep up the great work
Yea I mean the tutorial is how to do it, not the legal behind it. If you’re curious there’s a gentleman that commented some research down below. Thanks for watching, really appreciate the comment! 🙌
Thank you! At the moment I just do it digitally with a RU-vid converter. But whenever I end up settling somewhere I'll get myself a proper vinyl collection. Thanks for watching
Man, I though it was pretty sub-par but if you think so then yes can defo make a tutorial for that. Thanks for always showing support Karl! Really appreciate you
@@itstonyholiday Man, really thank YOU. I've DJ'd all my life and have always wanted to make music, but always got frustrated and walked away from Logic. Your tutorials have helped me (and so many others) make so much progress, SO fast. Thanks again, and keep up the great work, much appreciated!
Wendell Davis makes me so happy to hear that. I really just try to explain things in the simple way that I understand them, so I’m happy that others find it easy to follow. Man DJing is a skill in itself. I picked up a controller a couple years ago and learned basic beat matching and transitions but holy you gotta dedicate time to it to become really good. Whereabouts did/do you play typically? Clubs, lounges, events?
@@itstonyholiday Yeah, the videos are super easy to follow and really hit on all the things people need to learn to actually be productive and apply what they learn in an instant, they've been SO helpful that way. Re: DJing, I've been at it since the 80s, started off doing battles and school dances, spent a good part of the 90s doing mobile gigs, fell back into the club scene in the SF Bay Area around 2004 playing Hip Hop, R&B, House in large clubs and lounges. Definitely towards the end of my career now and with COVID, it's been a great time to dive back into production (would eventually love to put out an EP some day). Like production, good DJing takes time, but the two go hand in hand, the real beauty is, by producing, you can really keep your DJ sound unique/fresh...best of both worlds!
@@wendelldavis484 Man that's so cool! That timeframe in the bay is such an under rated music era. Funny they do go hand in hand but are very different in the sense DJing you're very much spending a lot of time publicly whereas producing you can spend a lot of time by yourself. I would love to get proficient at both as well. Making an EP would be dope. Do you sing/rap/songwrite as well?
EQ out the low end and compress. It's rarely going to sound like an acapella... but once you add your own drums and bass and mix it, you won't recognize the original sample.
even with following the instructions my Logic doesn't look like yours and we have the same version.. well 10.6 but still :( I can't even get the cursors to get the proper tools like you're using..., what do I do in this case??
@@itstonyholiday At the 4 minute mark where you're showing to right click on the audio file and it brings up that little menu box. Mine doesn't do anything at all when you right click on the audio files. I went through every tool and tried it just to see if maybe I was on the wrong tool but nothing worked. I can manually cut the clips with command-T but it does not allow me to do it the way you show in the video. But it was a great video and it helped me figure out how to use the flex tool so THANK YOU! I was finally able to remix 2 songs that I've been wanting to remix for over 10 years but never learned how to sample the correct way. Cheers, you got a sub from me 🔥
@@DJDEPLORABLE Awesome happy to help! I know sometimesI I have issues with right clicking the audio files. I don't have a solution for you but what I can say is if you just keep messing with it they tend to show up. Really appreciate the kind words and sub! Enjoy sampling
Hey Tony, what if you’re just trying to make a four bar loop (no chop) and none of the transient markers will give you a smooth sounding loop? I usually end up moving the cycle markers around by a few samples until I find something that kind of works but it’s not perfect and it feels like there should be a better way to do this...
how do i delete part of the sample in the q sampler? like for my sample there are silences, and i want to edit them out in the q sampler. like delete a slice? and the chops arent playing on the virtual keyboard/ midi even though they are chopped in my screen
You would need to do it before you bring it into the sampler. You could also move the start and end points so that you just have silence on certain keys and then not hit those keys. Thanks for watching
When creating a sample based song, when do you determine the song key? Do you find the sample, adjust to the final pitch, which then determines the key, or assign the key from the beginning and have the samples transposed as you bring them in?
I adjust to the final pitch after finding the sample. A lot of times I will change the key throughout production to see what it sounds like. Thanks for watching
I just started using Logic and your tutorials are a life saver. You're the only person on YT that actually explains things thoroughly for people who aren't necessarily familiar with all the shortcuts and keystrokes. It's really appreciated because just getting comfortable with Logic is a challenge in itself! Thanks for all these great videos.
Thank you! Really happy that you find the content useful. I do my best to explain things that I didn't understand when I started producing music, I'm glad that others find the information helpful. Thanks for the comment!
For real, best tutorials on this stuff. I think a lot how Tony knows how to pace his speaking so you're not constantly backtracking to figure out what he said.
I ''did'' something and now when I hit a key the chopped piece plays its full length rather than just the amount of time I hit the key as it did before. Can anyone help me set it back again? =S
When i hold the option and drag the loop to the track below, it doesnt show any options, nothing no quick sampler nothing can anybody help me out here?
Gee, I used to be so jealous of the MPC-guys on RU-vid, having such a smooth workflow. Finally with quick sampler and your tutorial, Logic finally has the sample ability it should have!
Couldn't agree more! I hope Apple stays with some regular updates because they've really made Logic a great DAW to work with. Thanks for watching + the comment
@@itstonyholiday One more thing on my wishlist: sampling directly into Logic's quick sampler... Do you know if there's any possibility? Now I use Audio Hijack to sample from Y****be and Spo***y. Then, I import the samples into Logic. I was happy to see the record button in quick sampler, but it doesn't seem to sample outside of Logic, does it?
@@frans9690 I haven't tried but I'm willing to bet that it probably doesn't. Apple doesn't natively allow sound recording from the internals anyways, you need to get a 3rd party driver. The only thing I could think of that would be a stretch would be to get the 3rd party driver, set your Logic ins and outs to be the Mac internal speakers, set the channel in Logic to said input, then record from the Q-sampler. If that's the case, you're probably better off doing the way you already you it.
Nice tutorial. I have never used flex or time stretch. I find my sample start and end. Cut it. Right click, scroll down to-Tempo>apply project tempo to region.
I think they're trying to streamline Logic so that it's more similar to other Apple products. One plugin, one product, simplified. What do you miss about EXS24?
Austin2K yes this is a great request, I have had a few people ask for this. Gotta get back on the videos soon, thanks for the shout and I appreciate you watching 👍
finally updated my logic and macbook just so i could watch these Tony! Thanks again for a non diluted learning video. Please keep them coming bro. Blessings from Yorkshire
Congratulations pal, the update is well worth it. Just in time as I’m getting back into making videos regularly. Thanks for always watching and showing support, Yorkshireeeeeee!!!
Bro i need help asap. Why is my q sampler not highlighting the live playing sound like you know it goes yellow and scroll plays each note.. its not highlighting the live time i cant follow the live sound visually
@@itstonyholiday ahh bro it was a bug g i jus updated my app.. false alarm ... Had me stressing over nothing sorry homie!! Mad appreciation for the reply. Hope all is bless on your side
Tony, holy $#%! man thank you! Haven’t even dl’d 10.5 and I’m already excited!! Been behind on buying a home and moving in but now I’m so excited to get the studio furnished and drop 🔥 thanks to you!
Congrats on the new home Derek! Looking forward to hearing what you cook up in the new studio. It's been a busy summer for me as well (hence the lack of videos) but soon to be back. Thanks for the love as always!
@@Jazzjidrum Yea, I really want to start doing more beat making videos. In all honestly it just takes a long time for me to make melodies and samples that I haven't made those videos yet. But when I get quicker, then yes! Thanks for inquiring.
