Indoor Karting @ Herselt, Belgium (Extreme Kart)
Sodi Kart RT10/270cc
Onboard Action Cam 2023/04/22 2H GP 14:30
Indoor track / 0.450km
Fastest lap kart #4 (quali): 00:35.451sec (compared to p1 34.732)
Fastest lap kart #13 (race stint 1): 00:34.823sec lap#82 starts @49:15
Driver: #MichaVerboeket
Team: Dennis + Micha
Driver weight with gear: 86kg (85kg minimum weight). I was driving at 85.8-86.0kg according to the scale when starting quali. After the 1h20min quali and stint I weighed 85.2/85.4.. is what the scale said stepping onto it 2 times (lost 400-800g)
Qualified: p10
Finished: p5 (1.2s from p3 podium) 😅
24 OKT-Racing members, 11 karts, 15 min. quali & 120 min. GP race. This was our "OKT Team GP" member-only event.
Random drawing of the teams and karts resulting in a 2 person team consisting of Dennis and myself.
For qualification we had kart #4, which was not a good kart. We qualified p10 of 11 with a FL of 35.451sec (compared to p1 34.732). No kart switches were possible during qualification, so I had to switch as soon as possible at the start of the race in lap 1. This was a good decision, as times improved quickly below quali times with kart #4.
The big disadvantage of this situation was blue flags in the first hour until the others started to do pitstops. During this time I was not able to defend top5 drivers with similar or just slightly better times, so I had to let them pass me. They were quicker, but it was close end of the race with each team getting 3 different karts with the mandatory kart switches each pit stop.
First half our is not really interesting besides the first lap and the kart switch happening and some blue flag overtakes.
@13:30 I start getting blue flags for p1 Sam VP behind me. So I let him pass. It takes another 9 minutes before p2 Jan is actually close enough to overtake also with a blue flag @32:15. @34:10 p3 overtaking, and @34:50 p4 Axel; all blue flags 😅
@49:10-@50:55 you can see the Kart#4 difference… that is the kart I qualified with and started the race with.
@56:47 I am driving towards Michiel, but at @01:00:01 I start getting blue flags for Dylan.
@01:02:02 blue flag for Roy, but he is holding Dylan up until 01:02:20, and holds me/us up until @01:02:41
I am now driving towards Kevin @01:03:15. Bumper to bumper @01:04:05, Kevin is defending me (it is for position) and was his right. 2 laps later and 0.7s slower I decide to start positioning myself for a different exit and go for it and send it @01:05:25. With that overtake action and previous 2 rounds I lost about 1.6s in total. Kevin's defending in the end (also in the last 20 minutes of the race with my team mate where he did the same) deemed necessary for securing their 3rd place as there was only a 1.1s difference at race finish between their p4 and our p5, and 1.2s in total between p3 and our p5. It was a photo-finish moment between p3 and p4 with a last corner move switching places and finishing with just 0.04s difference. Well raced!

Video with statistics overlay created using "Race Render 3" software, based on CamBox v3 video footage and Apex-timing telemetry from the track.
In future video's I will also test the CamBox v4 that I've ordered, but for this event CamBox has already shipped me the v3, which is really great service 👍
With this v3 the Field of View (at least with my body length) is just a bit too limited to see the kart position and/steering wheel as you are used to with my other (GoPro) videos. I pointed the camera angle to the lowest position today, but the FOV was still not sufficient. Also with this v3 there is a ±1.5s timing loss in the recordings between the video files, so that is why you see a short black screen (with #OKTRacing logo 🤩) every 15 minutes, as I had to compensate the video for correct start/finish line timings and I did not want to do a second phase rendering to cut those parts out again, what would result in time-jumps anyway.

Just a question, are you using Cambox? Or other inner helmet camera? Here they are banning external cameras from some competions so i'm looking for an alternative

Yes that is true. Very good alternative for places that don't allow external camera's. That is why I was testing this indeed, also for races in e.g. some places in France which don't allow it 😇 BTW this is the Cambox v3 which I received as a very nice gesture from Cambox while waiting for the v4 shipping. So videos with that next version are probably better than shown in this video with a wider field of view, higher resolution, and a bit better stabilisation👌
