I saw someone post a 100% win rate historic brawl deck after playing 5 games. It was 99 mountains deck and ragavan. All opponents forfeited as they didn't want to play and never saw the deck

Cowards, that's what they are! If your deck is not prepared to deal with 1 Mana Threats like Ragavan and Skrelv then build your deck better with a more higher focus on 1 Mana Drops and Removal

In Italy we play a format that is an 1v1 way to play commander. It is called Centurion, and Ragavan is banned as a commander for a lot of reason.

Love your vids! Are you gonna make an Omnath deck? I've been monkeying around with one but don't have the cards to make it good, but I've still won every game. I've been trying to get value off the free mana instead of just playing 5c good stuff, and some turns just give you insane value with free charms and 3color Capenna cards. The only issue is scry doesn't help his effect so cards like In Search of Greatness does nothing for him.

Yeah, I have to think Ragavan will be banned in HB very quickly. After seeing CGB and Amazonian do HB videos about it, I just finished assembling a Ragavan deck about 10 minutes ago. In that time, I played (or tried to play) six games with it. Three of my opponents conceded before turn one, and a fourth conceded during turn one. One of the other two conceded the first time Ragavan got a card, even though they were still at over 20 life and I had no other board presence. Only one played an actual full game of Magic with me.

Alright I built it and it’s nasty. A Winona player went first and they had no chance after I hit em with the monkey and then cast their Robber of the Rich. Have not had a game go past turn 5 yet.

Paper commander has 3 other players to deal with, all with 15 more health each. Also, mono red with an aggro/voltron commander in multi-player EDH is a tall ask. Making him a ramp commander is probably where he's best in that format, and he's still just merely good in that context. He's fine there for all those reasons and more. Turn 1 Ragavan in a 1v1 format that is always in your opening hand is brutal. Very different context for 2 very different formats.

Ragavan almost seems like an alchemy card. You get ramp and card advantage in a cheap investment. Like a cheaper prosper, tome bound.

Honestly, I've found that Darigaaz Shivan Champion works well against ragavan. Like that Sheoldred player, you just gotta have enough big threats that they run out of removal for them and darigaaz provides that. Then eventually you get to a board state where they can't push the ragavan through.

That Sheoldred player won not because they had "enough big threats" but the spires of orazca. Although mono red can answer thaumatic compass side pretty efficiently as they have tons of artifact removal it won't be a problem if cgb updates the decklist.

Honestly, I feel like Monkey is actually fine once its in "hell queue". The problem with monkey is that to beat it, you need to have cheap interaction and brawl players don't do that. Against the hell queue stuff, Ragovan will be strong but not as insanely autowin as it can be against the huge swath of, i'm very greedy decks.

I gotta say I’ve gone maybe 50/50 against these decks and it is generally miserable. If you go second, you lose. I was playing Feather and Alesha Tribal Humans (def not optimized but I like it) and them constantly killing and stealing your stuff and messing with your land drops…. It’s gross.

This is the problem with Arena. You cannot make house rules that all players would agree are reasonable. They could make Ragavan Brawl, where everyone has Ragavan as their Commander.
