Thanks for the review. My Pro and Cons list is pretty short. The biggest pros I have for the BBS V5 is the optional red lens, the aggressive bezel , and BSS V5 is somewhat light weight compared to the Olights. Olight warrior series does not have an agressive bezel, no red lens unless you purchase an additional accessory, and feels heavier and is better suited for full duty belt carry. On the other hand BSS V5 is better suited for plain clothes operations and or used on bike or summer light weight uniform duty belt. I work in LE and switch between both lights. I really like both Thrunites and Olighs. I will continue to switch between the two and certainly prefer them over Mag Lites and Stream Lights. One more last minute is either light can be mounted to a weapons platform which makes them even more versitile.

Wait...you can get a red lens accessory for the olight warrior mini 2?! Where from? I've been leaning toward the BSSV5 over the WM2 because of the red filter....

Really thorough vid. I find value in the comparisons, esp clip pros and cons, and things like proud vs. flush fit switches. Pls keep up with such detail. Consider writing a book on EDC. There is a huge national and even international appetite for the topic. Chapter on lights, chapter on knives, chapter on multi-tools, chapter on apparel, one on bags, one on backpacks, one on key keepers, and one on various accessory holsters. Bestseller material, would be happy to do a forward for you. Oh yeah, chapter on pens.

Fantastic review. I just received my V5 and found your demo easier to follow than the written instructions. Especially accessing fire fly mode. Thank you.

Thanks for the videos! I appreciate your thoroughness. My big complaint with the Olights is the proprietary charger. USB-C for the win!

I would like to see a more powerful battery that allows for longer use between charges, a battery with more capacity that provides longer run times between modes from high all the way down to Firefly! Getting as many days as possible out of Firefly mode, say 60 - 65 days or even more if possible would have been something extraordinary! More hours on medium and high would also have been nice! ☺❤ Thank you for your review!

I picked up the bss v5 this week and it's a great light imo. Thrunite makes some amazing lights . To me it's a lil to big to edc but I'm definitely glad I grabbed it .

Turbo modes or high modes that push beyond the limits of a flashlight and step down are a joke. They are a frustrating gimmick which underscores the priority of a company to put a high lumen number on the box and companies are hard to take seriously when they have this mentality. Unfortunately, most of them do this. Give me usable, sustainable lumens. If I need more, then I will get a bigger flashlight, but for edc and work I need consistency and longevity. The review was great, though! Looks like things are moving in the right direction.

I always thought of turbo like red lining a gasoline vehicle. You really shouldn't do it for long, but for a short time, you can if you need it. Otherwise, it just functions normally. Here, you get a several hundred lumen flashlight, that gets a boost for a small period of time.
@runplatypus
@runplatypus Год назад
You have a good point about these companies engaged in some kind of a lumens war. But being able to fully illuminate an area with turbo mode is very useful for a lot of scenarios even for just a few seconds. And you can always go to lower outputs for usable sustainable lumens. 😁
@Max-ni3lt
@Max-ni3lt Год назад
The turbo mode is meant to incapacitate an enemy, i totally approve this maximum output regardless of the short autonomy

When you want to blind someone, you don't need it continuously on. You want to use it for half a second then go dark and move.

I have to disagree on the tail switch and the importance of using a non proprietary back up battery. I use an Olight headlamp every night at work on a dirty job. It's never failed me and I throw it on the magnetic charger when I jump in my truck. The importance of not having to fumble around with a USB charging port and a flap cover is being understated. People that use these as tools have gloves on and/or dirty hands and might not have the time or patience for a tiny flap and getting the USB right. Especially in a dark vehicle or dark environment. The magnetic charger has an LED light that acts like a guide in the dark and all you have to do is point your light at it and walk away. As far as the battery, proprietary hasn't been a problem. My light never dies. I use it for hours every night. Unless you live in a part of the world where night last for days, this shouldn't be an issue. Ans if you're going out for such a long time, you should have a back up.

I bought the first version, when it was still made by WowTac , it's still running. The second version that had a mode switch on the tail was sadly not so durable and died after a 3 foot drop from a desk. May have to give this new version a try.

This V5 in Tan may displace my Olights... (Agree w/U on charging cover mod.) I am WELL into the diamond lvls for Olight...stopped buying them shortly after they went to PROPRIETARY batteries !!! Still LOVE the half press mid-mode, hard press Turbo tail switches. HATE the bumps on the newer tail switches !! They almost make the magnetic tails worthless ! Still absolutely love my SR Baton IIs/Is and MANY of their older lights. The i3S-CU EOS AAA is AWESOME, and the S1A Baton is also (though it needs a lockout, just pull the battery).

This is a great light, but, I have the TN12 Pro with same side switch. I highly recommend using the double lock out when carrying light . The single lock out is not enough, as anything else in your pocket can rest against side switch and turn on. I have had this happen in jacket pocket a few times.....I will now be using the double lock out feature, and use it for more of a survival/ pack light.....All tactical lights will be tail switch only.....

Yeppers folks, after comparing their respective specs, I do believe this V5 will finally displace one of my all time favorites...the discontinued Olight M2R Warrior. Just barely, but with 2X the moonlight run time and nearly dead even usable high and Turbo step-down run times...

You had a minor issue with the USB port cover but loved the light otherwise. CHEULE LIGHT came down on this light for (on his copy)---green tint, a side switch that would get jammed, and a problem with the red tint on the filter not being of a certain quality/number ... I got my copy lat week on Wednesday. Have seen no green tint even when comparing the light out put to my Olights and Nitecore. Nor do I see the button getting jammed unless I purposely tried to wedge it "under the rim". Filter? I don't like it because it greatly reduces the perceived lumens output power....makig 34 look like 5 lumens. The Strike bezel....gimic to help sell this light. Most of us will never use it on another human being. Takes a lot to be able to dig the bezel tips into someone's bone and keep doing it....never mind the possible legalities.... I have no complaints. And....I'd have to disagree with you in calling this a tactically oriented light simply because it has a removable strike bezel and red filter. FOR ME "tactical" means one-handed use...with the tail switch. This is clearly (to me) an EDC lgiht that "moonlights" as being "tactical".

Allight. So after i watch thousands of flashlight videos of RU-vid there is my list of best chooses in 2022: 1. EDC: Olight Warrior mini 2 or Thrunite BSS V5 2. Smaller EDC: Thrunite Archer Pro 3. LEP: Weltool W4 or Astrolux WP3 4. Keychain: RovyVon Aurora A8 USB-C or Olight i1R2 PRO Should i change something?

Схоже, тут відсутня ATR- advanced temperature regulation... Це досить дивно, адже коли яскравість залежить від температури, це справді захищає світлодіод від температурної деградації. Дякую за огляд👍👍👍
