Mmmm first video of yours and thinking w.t.f is Keenan on about - A Chemical Polyester Resin or an Epoxy ChemIcal Resin used with any stainless steel chemical resin stud of your choice will hold them rigid mount washers down a treat. Making a mess cutting the head because you are using the wrong bolt is not working smarter but working harder.

the easier quicker way that I did mine two 60 pounders Speed Queen washers, but might be 'temporary' was, I put two extras anchors on the edge of the base. I used the Tapcon blue anchors from Lowes, about 1/2 inch(they look like screws). I dug two holes by the bottom edges next to the original anchors, I used GALVANIZED and stainless steel washers and they are still holding up 3 years later.

When I installed my washers, I used an electric hammer drill, not as big as that one and that thing tore me up. I should get the bigger one. I also use the regular anchor bolts to go into the concrete, I forget what size.

You do not “unscrew” the bolt you remove the nut. Hilti makes a two part epoxy that will hold in the shouldered stud you are using, it’s HILTI HV 200 R, but I would use it in conjunction with a red head or Hilti mechanical anchor and you will never have to worry about it again. Also the grout you are using is going to degrade in moisture because it is water based, you can use an epoxy grout such as 5 star or Chockfast Red that is moisture and chemical resistant. It is going to cost you more on the front end but you will only have to do it one time.

Why couldn't you drill a hole through the head of the bolt and drill another hole into the frame and run wire through both to keep it from turning or spinning like they do in airplanes?
@FollowingKeenan
@FollowingKeenan Год назад
You could, or possible like it. Would take a bit to line up. The wire would have to be pretty hard not to turn.

What about 1/2 or 5/8 tapcon concrete bolts? Then you can drill holes and screw the bolts.
@FollowingKeenan
@FollowingKeenan Год назад
Wont hold, bot strong enough. Even wedge anchors are not suggested. Folk use them but shouldn't.
@Wadley225

What size is the drill bit in the hammer drill? 1 inch? My local laundromat company has installed several washer bases for me, they use wedge anchors and epoxy. They use Sikagrout 212 for grouting the bases, I don't know if that's the best choice or not. I've watched them install the wedge anchors and they seem to work, but I just don't know how those wedges open up once they are in the hole.
@FollowingKeenan
@FollowingKeenan Год назад
Yea 1". We dont use wedge anchors. I've heard of others using them. Speed Queen Install book doesnt suggest wedge anchors. If they work you should be good. Lot of different type of machinery non shrink grout.

How about using a metal anchor. Good idea? Or not.

Curious why you wouldn't float them on heavy duty rubber that can be replaced some a recycled tire bushing upcycled product
@FollowingKeenan
@FollowingKeenan Год назад
Rubber for grout. If so you need the grout to get hard. The grout is basically to level space under base. Then you tighten it down to that. Rubber would never be hard enough to tighten too.

@@FollowingKeenanthank you for the reply - found your channel a few nights ago and it really is a nice thing you're doing showing the detail and other startups, struggling stores can benefit. Really enjoying when you go visit other stores, talk about the brands (Should do that more). - I just dodged buying a couple maytags because I just couldnt get their web site to work and contacting them was "Oh well" lol Here you are up early in the morning replying to me - thank you!
@selenasdishauthorizedretai9303
What about concrete expansion anchors like some manufacturers recommend?
@FollowingKeenan
@FollowingKeenan Год назад
I've never used them. Also not a fan for washer base install. My opinion you really need it glue down. Also Speed Queen teaches there dealers this method. I dont think the wedge anchors could hold this force over time.
@selenasdishauthorizedretai9303
@@FollowingKeenan I’ve had other brands tell me epoxy based anchoring fail faster. Just got my first 80 lb machine installed. Hope it stays in the ground. Lol

How old is the machine and how often do you buy new machines
@FollowingKeenan
@FollowingKeenan Год назад
These washers are 2012. My plan is to replace machines every 10 to 15 years. Plan is to resell these machines and use that money to help off set new machines costs. Way i look at it I'll always have a machine payment or debt. But if i keep it low enough i can cash flow. Avoid ruin down and tons of repairs. Which will make owning a place more enjoyable.
