I think it is the thickness and the heavier drop shutty blade. I have a normal elementum. I love the design, but my fingers aren't comfortable when reaching for the liner lock and even reaching for the flipper. I feel like I have to scrunch my fingers when manipulating it. I like it for light carry on those days I'm wearing cargo shorts. Thanks for doing this vid..I think I will eventually get the button lock version too.
That's cool that the handle is slightly longer. I might have to check one out once they have them with more options. The coated blades from civivi are always (afaik) listed at 1hcr lower, and the only uncoated blade is natural g10 which I'm not a fan of. I don't see a need for coating nitro-v since it's decently rust resistant. I know other people like the look of it though.
Why did they do this? Now I want to pick one up. Ah!!!! I have enough knives. Waiting on my exceed designs tiRant to come as I find the replaceable blade better for my EDC.
It also has me interested where I had none before in the Elementum. The flipper tab also seems to be in a slightly different position in relation to the pivot. Are the pivots identical? I noticed the screw with the emblem on it looks slightly larger than the new version. My money would be on a change in the leverage you get with the new one. As to the elephant in the room, button locks, for me it least, greatly improve my experience with the knife because it's now completely and truly one handed. I'm not saying you can't close the old one one handed. It's just a lot cleaner and easier IMHO. And as a lefty, button locks are like a gift from the gods. :D
That looks like a good EDC. A close resemblance, reminds me of my #Schrade Outback, AUS 10, Aluminum handle, Liner lock though. Half serrated. $30.00, same size & blade shape. I'd prolly jump on this Civivi but I just got in on the #Olight flash sale. I appreciate your reviews & all you do. Very professional, thank you!
I'm glad they didn't put holes in show side scales for left hand carry. Can't stand the baby banter for that reason. Got an Elementum BL II on order. Loved the original, excited to carry the new BL version.
the reason why it feels so much better than the original is something that you forgot to mention. They upgraded the pocket clip. It's flush-mounted with recessed hardware and also has a new design making it more ergonomic. They also upgraded the steel, gave it a button lock and vastly improved the pocket clip without much of a premium. I ordered one in this exact color way. Been collecting for years and am finally interested in this knife now 😂. Took them long enough
I've had the original Civivi Elementum for a year now and I'm now no longer liking it. The pocket clip is not holding up anymore. I'm dropping my knife constantly.
Yeah, they messed up not having a reversible pocket clip. I've been thinking of switching to a left handed knife carry so it's not the same as my firearm hand.
Only 2 gripes…no reversible pocket clip and secondly, hide the lanyard cut out and just do a hidden post…if you can do a reversible clip and hidden lanyard on the Sencut Honoris, you can most certainly do so on the Elementum
Lefty here... are button locks easier in the left hand? compared to other right handed mechanism, yes, compared to having a button on the proper side for my left thumb, nope.

From my research the button lock is advertised as 3.5" blade, while the "standard civivi" is advertised as a 2.9" blade. Depending on where you live, one might be legal the other might be illegal. I have been eying them for a while, and haven't pulled the trigger on either.
lol i deffinitly want the button lock one for sure man i wish i could find a job somewhere why do i live in the woods with no licence lol i never had a permite even lol but such is life been to prison tho lol
