Thanks again Scott for your awesome talent and efforts. The radio looks and works great in the truck and certainly was the topic of some conversation at the recent Kenworth 100 year anniversary truck show. I cannot overstate how grateful I am for your work on this and can assure you this radio will be treasured. Cheers mate
It was great to be able to do this modification to your radio, yes it was a lot of work and time involved, but it was worth it ! I really enjoyed getting this done, I love getting my teeth stuck into a tricky task such as this from time to time.
Excellent work, Scott. There is a real sense of satisfaction when a project like this comes together and works. Well done! The interrupt issue makes sense, I used an interrupt scheme in my GPIB printer emulator but didn't have problems with debug output to the terminal, but this was a much slower chip I was dealing with. Something to file away and try to remember. Regards, David
I was tempted to drop the interrupt implementation and rely on the main loop to handle everything in a more linear fashion to prevent timing issues, but it was basically working by that point and the guy needed the radio back urgently so I didn’t have time to improve it to where I wanted, I’m still pretty happy with it though, it’s about 95% to where I wanted it to be, just a couple of bits I wanted to improve on.
Well done Scott top job, as we both know Mark Rutherford will be interested in this and may very well have a go at it. He definitely has the knowledge as we both know. Cheers from Pete in QUEENSLAND.
I might design a PCB for doing this if I get time, rather than the patched in module I did to get this done quickly for the owner, I certainly would have tidied it up a lot more if I had more time but they needed the radio back urgently.
😲WoW you're good, I don't do RF technology at all, firstly I don't understand it and secondly I don't have the equipment, but I was swallowing every word. I'm old school analog and Arduino is a dirty word for me 🤔 maybe it's time to get familiar with it. Congratulations on your success and thank you for showing absolutely perfect work. Nice day 🙂Tom
Reminds me of back in the day when we were Hacking the president Lincoln/2510 and the RCI 2950 . Hey is that a prototype or is that as tidy as you would like it lol
