An empty Aurifil spool is excellent to wrap your binding on. You can then put it on your 2nd spool holder and it rolls off smoothly as you sew your binding onto your quilt.

I’m with you Hannah, I love piecing the best but constantly felt guilty for my backlog of UFO’s. I’m 77 and decided it’s time to do what I love. So now I piece and no longer call them UFO’s. Once in awhile I finish a top I love and can picture a home for it. Then it’s no drudgery to quilt it and then bind it. I’m much happier and actually get more quilts finished.

I have made many 3 yd quilts for gifts and charity. When I want a baby quilt, I use the patterns but scale down the block sizes --- and a baby quilt is born.

I miss going into a fabric shop and they had a bin with remnants like 7/8 yd, .5 yd or 1.25 yds. etc. I do also like End of Bolts and try to buy more than 3+ yards for backgrounds or sashing. My favorite quilt shop pulls bolts by dates to put in clearance @ $7/yd. Most of the patterns I make are king-size, so I may choose double focus fabrics so I might be using four or five fabrics. 3-Yard patterns are so versatile!

Hello Fran and Hannah, Hannah mentioned in this new book coming out October 15th I believe. that it had tips in the book for fabric. being directional or tossed? I have a suggestion maybe for the future. That on the website under the freebie pages. Could you guys possibly have a listings for all your books and patterns. With the same type of tips, for fabrics and patterns. That would be awesome because sometimes when I'm looking through the books. To choose a pattern to make I often wonder. If a particular pattern would be suitable for the fabric I have already picked out. That would be so helpful if I could just look. at a printout if they are going to work with directional or tossed prints.

I like queen sized quilts! King are too big. Please indicate how to stop the size development to indicate ( stop here) for the queen size. I don't do the math well enough to tackle this on my own. Borders, blocks, how to artfully stop at a smaller size . King is too big for my queen bed.
