A perfect storm is brewing in the United States. Inflation, bank collapse, severe drought in the agricultural belt, recession, food shortages, diesel fuel and heating oil shortages, baby formula shortages, available automobile shortages and prices, the price of living place. It's all coming together and it could lead to a real disaster towards the end of this year (or sooner). With inflation currently at about 6%, my primary concern is how to maximize my savings/retirement fund of about $300k which has been sitting duck since forever with zero to no gains.

Investing in stocks can be a wise decision, especially if you have a dependable trading system that can lead to successful outcomes. Peter, I spend half my time in Orange County Ca and the other half in Palm Springs. Ever since Covid fast food workers have earned $20+ an hour. The employee shortage is killing us. In-N-Out Burger advertises Help Wanted at $23+ an hour. I am retired but if I wanted to wash dishes at a reasonably nice restaurant I can make $25 an hour under the table. CA’s increase in minimum wage truly affects the lower end jobs for people that work retail and in strip centers. Your point still rings True. I am just waiting for the crack up boom. Thank you for this podcast. I am going to make sure both my kids listen to this!!!!

They created the so called service economy which they said would be great as they moved manufacturing to Asia and other countries. So all that was left was Govt jobs or wonderful service jobs. Government work is great if you like 4 or 5 supervisors. Of course most everyone wants to be a supervisor so they create more. Just like the Federal government which have more departments and programs that you can count. My county has a 2 billion dollar budget and they are still adding taxes.

Peter's Gold fund, you might as well buy numismatic gold coins instead. Peter's Gold Fund charges 4.5% up front to purchase and then charges a 1.4% expense ratio per year. So you get knocked down with the shitty returns then kicked in the groin with the huge fees on top of that.

Peter is very entertaining. It took him a longer time to get to gold and it's up 7 bucks. In 1980 golds price was 2500.00. Using a inflation calculator 2500 in 1980 would cost $9,315.11. The feds are devaluing to dollar. I doubt 1.800 gold coin is going to save us all.

And gold fell to $455 around 2001. Gold is more stable than most investments and has never been worth zero..obviously it still fluctuates..sometimes a lot like in 1980 and yes the price is manipulated by the Fed. Peter is talking about what happens when the Fed loses control, when the US government loses Reserve Currency Status etc. Taking the record high and low into account $1800 is not bad at all. Buy low sell high is a lot harder to do than people think, otherwise we couldn't see so many foolish market mistakes.

Peter, one thing you're missing on the import number dropping: consumers like myself have stopped buying NEW things. I spend quite a bit of my monthly earnings on my mortgage, groceries, and utilities. If I need a tool to make a repair to my car, I now only consider used tools as the quality of imports has become so bad and the price has become so expensive, that there is more value in buying a used tool that was maybe made in America.

The major bulk, and likely the best jobs, are government and government subsidized jobs. Only 17k factory jobs and they likely in government supported jobs (EV and chips). The government jobs also belong to government unions (no competition) and get pensions and the best healthcare. We private sector workers support those jobs - we see screwed.

Make sure you keep holding your breath. It's actually quite embarrassing. Think of how many older people that were retired that may have passed away waiting for the gold thesis to play out. Gold has simply not been the place to hold your wealth. You're probably getting to a time where it makes more sense to hold some gold. As insurance. Be careful whose investment thesis you follow. You could go bust before it works out in your favor. This is just one example.
