I feel like the convo about not making the "locked hotbar" thing last longer kinda highlights something I feel is important for this "survival gamified" thing is that you should try to make these challenges fun and challenging, but not grindy. The real part of the locked hotbar challenge is "how can you play minecraft when you cant hold anything in your mainhand". Once you're able to do that and get a diamond to unlock at least one hotbar slot, it just becomes "Minecraft, but hotbar management is more irritating"

Dont count youself short Zed. Personally i thought your Mad Doctor shenanigans of Season 8 were hilarious! Like the Wall of Wool, thats so genius not only because of its mechanics but also because of its footprint. We all have empty flat vertical space hidden away, but that horizontal space is at a premium. Silly yet brilliant things came out of that seasons "story line". To be completely fair i started watching some hermits in S6 and all hermits in S7 onward. So i didnt get into your content until S7 but everything i have seen i have loved. Its wackey, its silly, its strange, its absolutely brilliant! So that being said, Keep it up Zed, we love whatever you get up to on the server. So long as you are having fun we will love it.

I would love kind of "Flush it right" minigame as a shop, where a dropper drops 16 items of whatever you would like to sell into a water stream. The customer of the shop stands in front of a huge wall and has to manage to get the 16 items by pushing buttons and activating/deactivating new water streams. The items can get down in different paths. Some of the ends will burn the items in lava, or destroy them in another way and only one ending will spit out the succesful purchased items to the player.

It would be interesting to gamify your progression through custom achievements. Like, you have to use wooden pickaxes until you "research" stone or add skill points to your mining capability. The skill points and research quests can be individual or cooperative. Almost like you're building a minecraft d&d character in game.

Challenge idea: To unlock being able to use a villager trade profession you could do a game related to their job (e.g. for fishing you could do something fun with moving entities around with a fishing rod). Improvements needed but the professions are a nice class of thematically distinct things to work with.

Egg Tree Chicken isn't gamified enough! Perhaps a wack-a-mole style game of activatavle bubble columns that chickens come up from?

What you could do about the locked hot bar instead of just asscending diamonds, force yourself to go to the other realms of Minecraft and get the more unique blocks from each realm. Like grabbing a Neitherite for a slot, dragon head and elytra for 2 more slots open, shrieker for another ect, ect. Add on... Not sure if you have ever done this but something that could limit the game in a fun way and challenging way, would be to force yourself to be unable to mine a block you placed yourself. Turns everything into a semi interactive way to build or farm. Like imagine silk touching while caving, but you would need another Hermit to either place the blocks for you or mine them for you. I'm sure Zed could come up with all sorts of fun things with something like this.

can't express enough how glad i am you do subtitles. i think you're the only hermit to do them, which means you're the only hermit i can watch on days where my brain and ears decide they don't want to get along and actually exchange information about what I'm supposed to be hearing. Or that you're the only POV I can watch for scenes where a ton of people are talking at once and I can't make anything out. Genuinely, if I could change one thing about hermitcraft, it would be for more people to have actual, proper subtitles for their episodes. I know it takes a ton of time to do it yourself or a ton of money to hire someone, but it's such a game changer for me - and I'm not even Deaf! The number of people who would probably love Hermitcraft if they could have subtitles to read...

I would love a long season of Hermitcraft where elytra have been removed from the game. They so entirely transform the game in a way that, to me, just doesn’t feel as good to watch or play after everyone is just flying around all over the place. For me it’s the long distance air travel that just takes some magic and life out of the game. I’m totally on the wavelength of Bdubs: making roads and trails between places, and making them vibrant and nice to travel along, is way more enjoyable than just flying really quickly over everything.

"Poule" It means chicken in french, and it sounds like "pull". So I had this idea for a long time, to gamified a chiken farm, into a kind of "clay pigeon shooting"… The system would farm chicken in the background, and stock them in different cells, and once the player pulls a lever, it would start the game, and about 10 chickens would be ejected one by one in the air from random cells, to be shot by the player with a bow. The game itself wont be sufficient to provide enough food, so in the background again, the overflow of chicken could be directly cooked, and a certain number would be dispensed to you at the end of the game, depending on your score (a minecart would collect the raw chicken on the floor to let the game know how many you get). Your season theme makes me really want to finally build this in my world, and it could be really interesting to watch you build some game like that too!

Gamify enchanting: Wack-a-mole with the bookshelves. Have them retract at random, so the enchanter doesn't give as good enchantments, and you have to do something to get the shelves back into place.

I have an idea for a levitating storage room where you access the chests by jumping down on a slime block, bounce, and then access the chest floating in the air.

Gamified idea for enchanting: unlock enchants by what you get on books, but you have to unlock them in alphabetical order, (might not be the sort of suggestion the you're after :^) lol). I loved this stream, can't wait to watch more!!

You COULD log on for 20min and make that a video... just go harrass, bother, goof off with, chat with, just hang out in general with other hermits... theres so many funny people on the server that if you just go casually insert yourself into their faces and let the cards fall as they may then youll have like a 92% chance of absolute hilarity ensuing... xD Like think about the down time shenanigans and chats that happened while waiting for your turn at a Decked Out 2 run. While DO2 footage was always awesome to see, the chill DO2 queue down time chats and goofing around was hands down the funniest and most free content to be had.

Season 9 convinced me to subscribe… season 10 reminded me to do it XD

You should unlock your chunks. Start an episode in a chunk at spawn and unlock a new chunk by getting achievements. Try to get back to your base. No leaving the chunk, you can go back to your previous chunks that you have unlocked. Spend at least 15 minutes under water. No water breathing potion, no gasping for air. You get to prepare for 30 minutes before you go down. Once you go down, you need to stay down. Mob-tag: you can only move from one mob to another. You can't ride them, nor lure them. You have to alterate between a passive and an agressive mob. And if you leave it, you need to kill it. You should start at the barrier and get back to your base. You need to eat different foods. As in, you can't eat the same food twice, until you've rotated through all of them. You can skip the harmful foods. Only if you have the micro-block, you're allowed to use it to build your base. Just some ideas I got from your first episode!

How about bouncing sheep and trying to shear them mid-air using a dispenser?

I like the "gamified" idea. It is so creative! I was thinking how anything could be gamified, and I was thinking of the old Indiana Jones Point and Click adventures, and I was remembering the so called "Indy Quotient", the first and only time I saw something like getting points in an adventure. (Like solving things without fights would give more points, then fighting...) I personally think, it might be fun to add such thing as an ZQ: The more Zedaphy something is solved or archived the more points, like archiving to kill the enderdragon.. as an exsample: with the normal way its like 10 points, with help its 5 points, doing it just with snowballs 11 points, and bringing the enderdragon to the overworld, and then kill it with snowballs in a dodgefight flying style might be 25 points... It is a total thing that just uses your personal view and honor system, but it might create a lot of fun.. maybe.

As I am watching I found a big cave in my world and am now lost in it and not sure how to get out😂

Zed, crafting the bamboo into blocks before smelting with them is more efficient! Instead of 2.25 items with 9 bamboo, you can cook 3 items with two bamboo planks - and you don't have to replace your fuel as often.

Just thinking you could make a fun shooting gallery type game with the spider spawner that also spreads the sculk. Maybe having spiders pop up with slime blocks. The sculk that you harvest afterwards would turn your XP bar into a point system so you could challenge each other

Survival gamify ideas: 1: Either hand out or perform one quest to/for another hermit per episode. Don't forget the quest reward! 1.1: Perhaps successful quests unlock certain items for you. For instance maybe you have to perform a quest for each potion type in order to be able to use it. 2: Possibly too complex, but: Keep track of your favorability with other hermits (maybe limited to 5 other hermits?) depending on interactions you have with them. Both negative and positive interactions are possible. Higher favorability makes you more inclined to help them or offer them better rewards for any quests they do for you. Lower favorability makes you less inclined to help or increases the price of any help that you offer. 3: Reach certain XP levels in order to upgrade the level of gear you're allowed to use. As an example (feel free to adjust however you see fit) you have to reach level 15 XP to be able to use leather gear. Level 30 unlocks iron. Level 45: enchantments on iron gear. Level 60 diamond gear. Level 75 enchantments on diamond gear. Another option might be to set the levels lower but if you die then you have to reach each level again to use the gear. 4: You have a pet that levels up with you over several episodes and through various quests. It starts out as a pig, then becomes a strider, then a lama, then a donkey, then a horse and finally a beautiful set of totally living symbiotic wings. In case of death or the wings getting destroyed, they require a certain period of time to grow back. 5: You require training montages to improve your weapon skills. You have to visit various masters and train under them in order to gain access to better and better weapons. A master may at any point after this require you to demonstrate your skills and should you fail their test they may revoke your permission to use their weapon. (Think both in terms of weapon material and in terms of enchantments.) 6: You require tools in order to craft more complex types of blocks or items. Basic items can be crafted before getting the tools. Tools are per type of block/item. Examples of types: wood, metal, stone, cloth, food, redstone, plants, etc. The tools can only be acquired through quests. (Obviously don't make this too ridiculous.)

Maybe for enchanting, you have to get a certain enchantment in a certain level range or you have to immediately grind stone it?

What about if your hot bar reflected your current health - I imagine a client side mod could contextually texture your hotbar based on health level

Some suggestions: To enchant: Lava Parkour challenge. Ender dragon fight but you must use creeper explosions for damage. Some mob farm where in order to reach it you have to bucket clutch. Mob farm where a warden sonic blast is the damage source. Shulker levitation needed to access storage Hot tourist destinations without walking/ running, using a boat, or ender pearl

Idea for your Iron farm: put a dripstone farm above it and shoot the dripstones with a trident to kill the iron golems with the falling dripstone

...be very glad you're not doing the exponential price increase for unlocks or that ninth hotbar slot would be worth 256 diamonds and something tells me we just wouldn't ever see it unlocked at that rate XD

Also: Had an Idea for an Item called "the plug" that makes slots unusable. Especially, it would not be affected by hoppers or such. Would be worth a lot for filters and the crafter - could have been a solution without toggleable slots. How could you get it? You could get it by shaving wood, as a play on cork production!

please make a whack-a-mole mob farm. the mobs appear out of multiple holes and you have to hit them in time or they go back down.

I agree Zed... Vanilla needs more kinetic objects. To be honest some sort of Create like items are needed. Maybe not the whole power generation but the movement. Such as Moving Windmills, maybe something usable like a 1x1 minecart lift that can lift and lower a minecart with chest from one track to another vertically. Some other things that just add more movement to the game but maybe not OP production/power capabilities like Create gives...

Yeah, other hermits have already been grabbing iron from your two mountains way back on day 1, that's why there wasn't a ton.

One idea for a Challenge: No storing blocks (or if harder, items) in containers (Chests, Shulkers, Donkeys, Boats, Hoppers, Droppers, Pots etc.) So if you want to store blocks: either keep them in your inventory OR place them.

IMO, the hotbar could be improved. Some have said my initial impression (doubling diamonds), but IMHO the best option is having specific (increasing difficulty and numbers) of items.
