Great video! One little correction... Mbps is MegaBITS, not bytes. 380Mbps (Megabits per second) translates to approx. 47.5mb/s (Megabytes per second). It's important people know the difference. Good information though! I might grab one of these!
Probably be no issue, but if you are using the wrong cables it could cause over damage over time. I recommend you check to make sure you have the right ones plugged in, unless they have changed it since we reviewed the product.
Thanks for the easy to follow video, very welcome for an old technophobe like me! I've just ordered myself one of these on the strength of your excellent review and feedback.
Nice and great video, but is it really easy to set up like the TP links which gets thumbs up for easy set up? I mean, I m no champ computing, so will I be able to set it up without spending my holiday on it?
@@TechforTechs presetup, does that mean, that it is prepared for wireless connection to the nodes from the main node or is it main node to node and then to last node from the previous node?
Iv got these set up there fantastic no dead spots sorted out my Wi-fi as in loft no Wi-fi but now my whole house and beyond is covered :) great product 10/10
Glad you like these products, they hit the right price point in performance to cost. Thanks for watching and dont forget to subscribe if you have not already 😀
@@geepriest not really, there is a mode called "maintanence schedule" , at a certain time (automatically set at 3:00AM) so it resets automatically so it can stay fresh, you can disable this do
thanks so much for this video, i bought the MW5g , all the 3 cables are marked as 12v 1a, and it doesnt look like there is a primary node, system is working but im not sure if im doing something wrong, even on their site the MW5g and MW5s appear to be the same
@@TechforTechs Our dimwitted liberal party squashed Labor's fibre to the home setup to screw the majority into a mongrel of (fibre to the node) & then smash the space-age fibre into our crappy, telephony-monopoly-Telstra's, decrepit & decaying copper....FFS. No one who doesn't understand tech should be in charge of decisions about it's roll-out. PS: the LNP PM and the LNP MP's ALL have fibre to THEIR homes. Funny, how that is?
Great video, very clear and easy to understand, I'm looking to purchase one of these but i have a media server and hive taking up two of my current ethernet ports on my Virgin Hub 3.0, can i plug into the node ethernet ports as normal?
Just bought the system after watching your video and all I can say is "It Really Works". Do you know what the "Maintenance Schedule" is on the Tenda app? It seems to be set to on by default and mentions a time for rebooting the system.
@@mikeswain1945 Glad you like the video and the product, from what I recall the maintenance schedule is for it to check for updates automatically as well as reboot the system, this allows the system to re-syinc and fix any bugs or sync issues it may have had in the last day (bit like if you keep you PC running 24/7 you will find it slows down and get more issues and its advised you restart/Shutdown it once a day). i advise you set this for a time when you are not usually using it. (normally at night)
I would suggest disabling QOS, SOMETIMES, it can cause pronlems, I would also reccomend changing the DNS (Preferrably the Google DNS). Because it might fit improve the speeds (it did for me)
Hi Simon, We always recommend you try and get this items from a local independent store, if you are unable the links are above in the description depending on where you live, but here they are again. 🔥▶: Buy on Amazon USA amzn.to/2HmBHcz 🔥▶: Buy on Amazon UK amzn.to/2JmD5ht 🔥▶: Buy on Ebay USA ebay.to/2EcwIsR 🔥▶: Buy on Ebay UK ebay.to/2Yww9So
so from video. if i put the same topology and set up at home like you. Nodes near Router is 377 mbps. the 2nd nodes 60 mbps and the 3rd nodes 70 mbps. am i right? why so much lost from 377 mbps to 60 or 70 mbps. ?
hi. can this devices works fine if i put all of 3 in linear topology? i mean. Nodes 1 plugin LAN from router. and put nodes 2 far for 15 meters and the nodes 3 for 15 meters. is is work? or should put together in triangle line?
Was a long day, but you are correct, Mb and MB, MB, Megabytes are used mainly used for Storage capacity's as well as speeds, Megabits are used mainly for networking.
I have just bought these on a recommendation and from this video they should be easy to set up but I can't get a connection. My router is the Huawei 5G CPE Pro (Vodafone GigaCube) but I can't get the primary node to connect. Unfortunately, being so simple, there are no instructions for what to do when it doesn't work and I will be returning them.
We have sold and used plenty of these without an issue, all you have to do is plug the cable into the correct place on the primary node, and plug the other end into the router, and obviously plug in the power cable as well. try unplugging the other nodes until you know the first one works, otherwise, I would recommend you contact their support.
Tech for Techs Thanks for the reply. I’ve done that. I believe I’ve done what you suggest (several times) and have never connected any of the nodes. Have emailed Tenda Support but no reply. Have tried again but will be returning them if still no reply. Thanks for trying to help.
In basic the MW5 is faster than the MW3, MW3 is more suitable to the boardband less than 100M, and the MW5s is more suitable the boardband less than 1000M, I have not used the MW5c so cant comment on that one.
If I have Ethernet ports to my routers throughout my home, am i able to have 2 nodes connected to Ethernet ports in different rooms and have one that’s just wireless?
Hi, how can we connect our devices to freq 5Ghz ? My macmini, macbook air, android phone only connect to 2,4Ghz. Only iphone 7 and pc directly connect to 5Ghz. Thx
good morning friend, how do i block the sites that i don't want to access for the children's access control. example: I want to block facebook or instagram, how to do it? thank you and I look forward to returning.
Reviewing tech gear like a mesh system without knowing the difference between Megabytes and Megabits per second is rather odd. It makes me wonder how much you actually know about the technology you are reviewing.
Thanks for the feedback, We do know the difference but its easy to get them mixed up when doing multiple videos in bulk, when one minute you are talking about storage and the next networking and in same cases combining the two, and even guys like Linus Tech times and Paul at Pauls hardware make the mistake now and then. Since this video went live 2 years ago we have updated out workflow editing and filming to help minimise these minor mistakes. Thanks for the feedback
Nothing will increase the speed of your internet, this will just help spread the signal from your router into areas that may not normally get it, or get a low signal
@@MrDucatiPenigaleV4s that's good to hear, once you have a decent wifi strength but you want to increase the range, (eg. Wifi at router downstairs =100 MBS but the wifi signal upstairs is only 10 MBS, you can buy a mesh wifi system and place a node upstairs so the speed upstairs will increase to a similar enough speed to your router)
