According to Jay Generation, of Next Generation Seeds (Canadian breeder for many years, who moved to Spain. From HT mag articles he's written in the late 2000's), smaller plants/buds can indeed be more "potent". He's done back crossing and breeding of certain varieties for 10 generations and longer. He found that with a very stable genotype, each individual plant from seed, would produce the same amount of Cannabinoids. This is when he consistently noticed that the plants that were naturally smaller, were more potent than the naturally larger plants. These were seeds standardized over many, many generations, though. Not F1's, F2's of polyhyhbrids, like most varieties available, though. More in IBL's and Landrace varieties. He also worked with one strain where only the odd number generations were any good..?! F1's were really great! F2's weren't very good, F3's were really great, once again, F4's weren't good, F5's really great again. And this continued, so he only releases the odd numbered Filial generation seed for sale, as they're always great. He also did the breeding that brought the Canadian strain "Burmese" to the world. Still sold by VCS, Vancouver Seed Company (last I knew, at least). Those were great stories I'll never forget from HT mag then. Along with Subcool's great articles on breeding, and his history of The Bros Grimm breeding of Apollo 13, C-99, etc. Bro' Science, or Old school breeding Science, as they didn't work with Testing Labs, I thought it was very interesting, then and now. Forgive my rambling, please. Just thought someone may be interested in this.👍💯🙏✌️

Tanisha -Pick you up a wood moisture meter , the ones with 2 metal pins Wgen drying stick it into bud and around 10 to 12 % is perfect to jar up. Around 8-9% will keep color , taste and potency longer than anything But General Toools wood moisture meter .,Take the geusswork out.

I've grown since I was 16 and can say we specifically bread for smaller buds but same dry weight which in the northeast is particularly important especially if you were growing indoors in the summer it's 90%humidity and can be a real issue

I grow with autopot, so it’s bottom fed after the initial two weeks for them to root around. I usually get like 31/2 inches around buds on top. I trim everything that’s not on top. My soil is amended with Gaia Green 444. I feed like three times in 3 months and add nutes when or if I see a deficiency brewing. 3 gal. Pots with a 6 gallon watering reservoir. I wrote this before y’all said anything about autopots wow I was waiting for someone to say it is a bad idea! Lol I am on my third autopot grow

Smaller /looser buds are better for extraction. But if you're into flower 🌼 bigger. Pretrim is the way to go especially in the pnw more airflow when the rains and cold snap comes

Finished up my first grow Got 5 BPP fastbuds just started the curing Got a strawberry banana to finish up in the tent all by itselfs I like my weed Alittle wetter then dryer so I deffo won’t dry for a snapping stem that’s too far for me just beforehand is perfect and then 2 weeks curing should be perfection👌😉🙏

I like to veg for 45-65 days depending on size of plants. What ever the tents will allow really.

I like my flowers medium but really just a good quality bud structure. As long as they are fully developed. They are gonna get ground up anyway. 💚💚🌱🌱✌🏽✌🏽

Current run in a 5x5 with 6 plants and I was only able to veg my clones for 5 weeks and they were borderline overgrown when I flipped to flower. Having to trim some branches off to create space.

Like Chad I’m in the Pacific Northwest and I just wet trim(makes great live rosin) does slow down my harvest day but I like my buds to dry nicely and smoke smooth. As far as bud size I like all bud sizes each just has its own purpose. Some are joint buds and some are rosin buds and the larf is best taken off at harvest for live rosin.

As soon as the flowern seems dry but when stems still bend and before the stems snap put into plastic bins with top covers open a little. You can stretch it out 5-7 more days .

All you need is airflow and proper humidity then bud rot won't be a worry....Humidity over 70% and heat above 89-90 then you have to worry about bud rot.As far as lighting goes,if you put your plant in ATLEAST 3 gallons to begin with and crank off 12-12 from the biggini g you'll get a fat 5 ft plant.If you top 2times in the same pot with 12-12 from the start you'll have a fat 3 foot plant with ATLEAST 6 more colas..

30 day veg is plenty…. But I like at a minimum 14 day veg post seedlings being transplanted into flowering pot. Just get them happy in their final home before flipping them to 13/11 for first 14 days then 12/12 till I get to senescence then I go 11/13 for 10ish days.Never done a side by side but just like how it works for me.

Balance is key! Stopped using soil for the ladies 20 years ago as a teen. Here in Australia Canna nutrients levels my tap water to a perfect 5.9

I just finished my first grow/harvest and have been curing for a little while and everything including when i was finished drying and went to trim and cure was all just me trusting my gut when it was ready to harvest and when it was ready to cure and i definitely did not wait until the branch snapped it wasnt super bendy anymore but it definitely didnt snap it had a little crack to it on the smaller stems. The overall product was damn good the white widow i grew smoked good right as i was putting it into the jar for cure and the afghan tastes amazing already just over 2 weeks into cure. Also the popcorn buds just get decarbed and made into butter for baking lol. I have been smoking for almost 30 years and just the smell of breaking up some of my homegrown and rolling a joint reminded me of getting stoned back in the day when i got great homegrown from some hippies i knew. I also secured myself a job running genetics for a company when they saw my product because i grew dense frosty stanky tasty nugs and it was the first time i have ever grown anything lol, that and i have a 4x8 room i built for growing and am able to add another 8x8 room so the 4x8 will be a veg room connected up to the 8x8 room that i will use for flowering.

Real Talk, I waited until the stems snapped for the first time ever and my shit is all too Dry!!

I'm about 2 months in veg, but it's been very dry and I haven't kept up with vpd and rate kf growth has been very , very slow. I had 2 hernia surgeries and have been home for about 4 months now. I can't complain but it's why my veg is so long this grow. Otherwise, they would've been kept praying all day.

Currently running my first indoor grow. Completely different than growing outside. Playing nature can be challenging

Jarred up some buds after 5 day dry cuz the outside was drying a lil to fast. Put winters hats over the jars to let airflow in slow,seems to work ok.

In high humidity areas bud rot is a constant thing for new growers..humidity control,co2 and proper air flow from top middle and bottom but NOT on the plants.Dont be cheap buy fans and dehumidifier and humidifier ...you grow what you put into it

Big buds don't matter if they're not rock hard don't want no fluffy Bud's no matter how big they are

Drying right now. I always get a time when the bud starts to smell like leaves and then it starts smelling good again. On day 10 of drying and it is smelling pretty dang good.

Veg in final pot for 30 days, from cutting to transplant is 14-15 days, so around 45 to 50 days veg from cutting to flip.

You can grow huge buds as long as humidity is kept in check! I am just agreeing with you guys I like 58-65 humidity in flower. I'm also in higher temps (F) 80-84. I have gotten bud rot, but it was to be expected my fan died that grow

Growing a few plants indoors is very therapeutic and good for you.

Every strain grows at different speeds you need to veg as long as you need to it all depends on how much sealing space you have. But you should want to maximize all the space you have. I definitely agree with the snap of the branch. buds are usually getting crunchy by that time in my experience depending on density of buds. 👍🏼

Another pro tip for the BIG growers: If you miss watering, your stems will become hollow and snap when the buds get heavy. It's not silicon, it's watering..

I take clones the day I switch to 12/12. This gives them 70 days (my flowering cycle) to grow. Sometimes they will get an extra 7-14 days to grow before flipping again.

Big bud are fun to look at an d grow indoors. Outdoor I multi top to get cigars earther that 🤛 fist. They all get broken w Down eventually, for storage or for consumption. The best buds from my experience are the lower part of the big buds where the stacking started. Imo that part is always super dank and when I roll a fatty with the lowers it resins up so much it gets hard to smoke half way through

can someone explain how to improve performance through watering? There is a lot of common explanation like it depends on strain and grwoth state... When growing in soil, what can i do with watering?

Is your climate is really that dry it may be beneficial to get together with a bunch of friends and build an earth fridge. It will keep the humidity and temperature is perfect because it’s buried.

Lol so I running on a cheap Walmart led, great for vegetation but after I flipped it it grew hairs bracts but no bud growth what so ever, lol was about six feet in my closet, had probably ten or twelve huge colas good structure but no damn bud growth, is it the light strength or did I supercrop and let it get too big? I don’t know it was just an experiment with my dads old lights that went better than I thought it would, guess I’m just getting greedy and impatiently lol just cut the tops off it leveled her out and gona reveg and see what she does

Why do they make autoflowers when you can just put photoperiod seed under 12/12??

I have vegged for two or three months and end up with Xmas tree tops up to ceiling! The size of a softball at the bottom of the top flower! The plants get very top-heavy so I grid with green plastic straps! Big buds require more time before 12/12 and more flower time with hi phosphorus slow release like bone meal! As far as bud rot I like to pre treat with sulfur sprays and sometimes copper based fungus treatment but the bad kind of bud rot I can't spell it but it starts with a b boutchritus! If you get this fungus it's devastating and most times it's just a total loss! Pretreatment is about 89% effective where I live! Our humidity can be 95% with condensation so fungus is a part of life!
