Great video once again. However I do get fed up with setting up a launcher or anything else only to find it won’t then work following an Amazon update, it’s a continual battle back and forth keep my Fire Cube set up how I want it. QUESTION: If I use the NVIDIA SHIELD TV Pro will I have the same issues ?. Will a custom launcher be affected by updates ?

Still have a delay on the old method, using new FS with os8. FL logo pops up around 10 seconds before going to custom launcher. Happens on certain apps after you back out of the app.

You can access the stock app store through launcher manager. Under "shortcuts" there should be App Store - have you tried that ?

Nice! I've switched to an ONN 4K recently because I can map the buttons, but I'm not really satisfied with its performance. If this works on my 4K Max, I'll being using it until AMZ breaks launcher manager again 😂 Appreciate the hard work of all involved.

With respect the ONN 4k is fine for me, haven't overloaded with apps...and really it's just fine, especially for 20 dollars

@@DrMoorehen No disrespect taken, we all have different use case scenarios. I find the bluetooth connection and range on the ONN to be much weaker than the 4k Max. It's really bad in both this device, and the ONN box I tried and returned a few months ago. I can't even pair earbuds without using a wireless mouse to click the pair button. Sometimes my remote freezes and I have to reboot the device. Also I have problems streaming over local network with my preferred media player. Both X-plore File Manager and Total Commander behave a little differently on the ONN as well. That said, I generally like it, and having access to Button Mapper is frigging awesome. The firestick is just more reliable for me.

Well I was disappointed. It appears with my 4k Firestick and my 1st gen Firestick Max, only the new method works. I think the new method for the custom launcher does not work nearly as seamlessly. So on the devices I have, I'm keeping them stock. Oh well, it was worth a try.

Sadly not working here, after setting launcher manager up as described (I have to use the new method) and selecting my custom launcher, I press home button & alls good. I then select an app, then when I press the home button it takes me back to the stock launcher & a notification is highlighted by an orange dot, when I go to notifications it says launcher manager is running, tap for more information or to stop the app.

I wish xda dev would make a toolbox like the one they made for fire tablets it removed all Amazon and Google apps I could have kept them cause the toolbox allows full customization. It woul be nice just to be able to have control of my insignia fire tv. Use your voice and say "Open Settings", you can then go to apps, open launcher manager and undo what you did

Old method wouldn't work on my 1st gen 4K Max, so used new method but it shows the Amazon stock screen for 5 seconds before it launches my Custom Launcher (Wolf).
