Shankar lost it in 2015 when he marketed Vikram's "I" getup as a beauty and the beast concept...and making Vikram do the makeup in audio launch also...whereas in reality it was just for a song in the movie

I felt like Shankar made a comedy spoof of the brave Senapathy(Indian Thatha). Even Senapathy didn't do this much actions 28yrs ago!! The first one in 1996 was very suttle and engaging. I think Shankar wrote a script for 'Anniyan 2', & when he didn't get the dates of Chiyaan Vikram he proceeded with Kamal sir and gave the name 'Indian 2'. It has Vasantha Balan and Chimbudevan as second unit directors where we can pointout their portions. Varmam parts wre the most comical things in the entire movie!! Anirudh already said "Thatha vararu katharavida poraru".. Now everyone who watched the movie is feeling the katharal!!!

Regarding that 7.5 mins - it was not 7.5 mins but basically he says 7.5 nazhigai (நாழிகை).‌ நாழிகை is an ancient measurement existed in Tamil culture, where 1 நாழிகை= 24minutes. So he says he would be alive for 7.5 நாழிகை which means 168 minutes that equals 2.8 hours !

This is not Shankar version of Indian 2 , he fully written the scripted during admk time,but after DMK arrival he caught in fear to go ahead and changed the sequence to as many other state corruption issue,which largely diluted connectivity to local audience, which is unreal Shankar movies,with Kamal and udhayanidhi in back..he cannot dig anything in Tamilnadu to connect with audience,sad for him...being committed to movie during admk period he compromised everything to udhayanidhi

“ naazhigai” was one of the units of time in ancient Tamil Nadu. Twenty four minutes were equivalent to one naazhigai. Three and three fourths naazhigai made one muzhuttham ( 90 minutes). Two muzhutthams made one yaamam ( 180 minutes) and eight yaamams made one day (1440 minutes or 24 hours ) .

Dude why showing the advertisement that Indian 2 is running successfully

The main reason this movie INDIAN 2 took nearly 7 years in making is because,...It all started with that Massive indoor shooting accident, in which shooting Staff and assistants died. Next day in the media, Kamal blamed the producer Subashkaran for not providing proper infrastructure and lack of involvement from producer Subhashkaran side. Subhashkaran shot back and responded to kamal stating that he(Subhashkaran) residing in a foreign country, cannot come and check each and everything in production, when the movie is being made,..the Indian 2 movie making responsibility was given to the director shankar and kamal and so they are completely responsible for that shooting set accident. THAT'S IT !..All hell broke loose, both the sides (kamal and producer) were in loggerheads and by the time their dirty EGO was about to get evaporated, DMK won 2021 Elections in TN and thus Red Giant got inside and made a truce, thus paving the way for the Indian 2 to resume shooting.

Another problem is that they wanted to make the 100+ year old Indian Senapathy into a super human.. they could have tried something like Liam Neeson .. of the Taken series. Instead we got something like T-1000/ Terminator -Anniyan

Shankar never give any credits sujatha that he deserved.apart from this main mistake of shankar is he never take time to observe and study or think he just always shoots without proper screenpaly..shankar should take rest for 3 year and observe whats happening around..then we can hope he may come up with something good..

Now im not looking forward to Indian 3 at all. Indian 2 was a terrible waste of the producer’s money. I really pity the producer Subaskaran. So disappointed after all that hype. I was just waiting for the movie to end. I felt like crying. Shankar shouldnt have taken Indian 2 at all. Indian 1 was such a fantastic movie. Now it has been blemished because of the crappy Indian 2 movie. How did KH allow this movie to be screened? As a movie technician himself, he should have seen all the flaws in the movie. My assumption is the core idea was to have a single well developed sequel including the flashbacks but considering the delays, accidents, COVID must have stressed the producers and financiers to rush whatever was shot to be released and then release a 3rd sequel.

Hi BR, I agree to your understanding on this movie and mentioning the places where and all , the movie didn't work well with Audience. Especially, on the " Meow " mannerism, vfx of making thatha a body builder could have been avoided. the long dialogues on stats, which went as if news channel. Let me tell my POV, i see this movie has 1st half of one story. So, we have left with all these questions on Senapathy character valuation, the emotional connect and so many. It is the interval block, which has created these questions. We have to wait for the second half of the story as Indian 3, which may or should convince and support the making of Indian 2.

Should have skipped (or made the first 15-20 minutes Indian 2) and just gone straight to the story is Indian 3. There was no reason to break this into 2 three hour movies. This sequel feels like a ‘bait’ for Gen Z & Gen Alpha, so they’ll have a larger audience for Part 3!

People are so much used to corruption these days they see everyday and are like ok we saw this and know this it's part of our life... so be it I don't see anything new... 2. The story is fully about corruption within every family and what if every one becomes like Senapati and people are expose their own relatives and parents what are the consequences and the after effects ot that is shown very high and detailed in Siddharths house his girlfriends house and his friends house... and because of this the whole public is turning towards Indian Tatha... This seems like dragging but in my view Shankar is trying to show what is in everyone's house today as we all may have government servants and bribe takers in our own houses too.... and this movie is also a lead to part 3 as how Senapati is going to handle a whole world who is against him

Focusing more on package and leaving the actual product un attended to a large extent is the major cause. Where as Sankar films in his prime will have a good content supported by sujatha sir, and then Sankar the crafts man mount it in huge scale which makes movie a visual spectacle. .

I like the movie ..from start to end it is not boring but .....the major drawback is each killings there is no proper justification, the scenes of scam involved with calendar guy or other business man are not shown so the killings are not justifiable , ,audience should get the feel to show vengeance against villain which is missing ..best example is nillgal Ravi scene in indian 1 ..next is in high secured area indian thata enters just like that ..

It'll be very interesting to see Bharadwaj Rangan come up with a story and direct it.

As ‘GENERAL AUDIENCE’ - I like the “Indian 2’ movie. I love shankar movie - it’s been very long and I miss his movie since robo 2 (2018). His movie is like a festival. Like a complete mix of society message, musical, stylish, high tech cg, futuristic, dance, multi-starer, 1st director to produce pan-Indian standard movie, grandeur etc etc The shortfalls of this Indian 2 - 1. Aniruth music didn’t work 2. Lack of comedy elements (usually shankar will give gd scope for comedy) 3. Lack of musical treat 4. Lack of romance 5. Very serious & intense screenplay throughout 3hrs 6. Lack of entertainment element It’s been very long since we got a gd Tamil movie lately. For last 7 years, we are watching lots goon & rowdy movies, like Vikram 2, Kathi, master, Leo, petta, kabali, kaala, darbar and etc etc … this lokesh, pa ranjith, Nelson, Karthik subburaj who are young directors this days are more into, vettu-kutthu and gore murder scenes plot. Am extremely tired of watching such repeated genre. Worst to worst, we get to see paranormal or horror movies. Movies with this kind of society related messages or corrective action are very rare. Infact family subject are even lesser. Romantic movies are also very few. That is why Tamil audience hv jumped to Malayalam and other state movies. Telugu, Tamil and Hindi industry are going drought and bankrupt and dying. Infact we are liking international movies these days. Korean, Japanese, French, Turkish movies are favoured. I wonder if South Indian film makers ran out of stories or failed to understand audience pulse. I revived back with maharaja movie after soooooo long, in fact there were gore scene in the movie but it was acceptable due to the plot. Indian 2 isn’t bad. No matter wat, I love shankar movie. The reason because, there are so much hardwork, so much innovative ideas, very creative, and never fail to impress audience. Till to date, shankar hv only directed 16 movies. All were somehow a blockbusters with high budget. My all time fav directors are balachander, balumahendra, maniretnam and shankar. No matter how the movie is, it will be liked by audience. Because they are legendary directors and prodigy movie makers. Although Indian 2 was not to our expectations and beyond reality, I am contented with the movie. At least there isn’t the over-used gangster elements and gory fight scenes which we are watching for almost a decade. In the name of dark comedy lots of useless movie hv spoilt our Tamil industry recently. There are lack of culture or substance these days. It’s very very easy to be an arm chair critic. No Cap. Writer Sujatha was the backbone of Dr. Shankars Screen play. Its not like Dr. Shankar don’t have stuff. But at this stage, he should retire or break his pattern and come out new. Neither seems to be happening.

Another thing- Post Sivaji, murugadoss, Atlee, Mahesh babu and vijay films bange dour heads with continuos message films and this is not new any more. Dear BR, If you look at the credits of Indian (1996) movie , it clearly states வசனம் -சுஜாதா and திரைக்கதை உதவி - பாலகுமாரன் If it’s collaborative work, then there is no need or reason to put one person’s name under the credit. Sujatha sir’s dialogue contribution is one of the backbones of Shankar sir’s movies. Everyone know it. Period. And, Sujatha sir’s strength is not only Short stories as you blatantly stated! Besides a successful engineer, Sujatha sir was an intellectual writer, a seasoned novelist. Some of his novels which later came as movies are Gayathri, Vanam Vasappadum, Karaiyellam Shenbagappoo, Anandha Thandavam( Pirivom Sandhipom) and Priya.

Indian 2people not like why:. 1) due to covid, time taken more, 2) it is not taken by shankar, it was shoot by 2 shankar AD and final kamal also. Did u notice that kamal scean in end of the chasing scen it was in all kamal movie stunt. 3) shankar not update in corruption, in Indian 1 people will not know the corruption but Indian 2 audience update about the corruption. Shanker fail. 4) vijaya malai and Gujarat business man kills are rocking. If BJP not win, the story is different, so that understand the story lag.. Reason for flop. 1) AR is a big roll missed. Because of him not connected, all say not connected it is only a big issue. 2) logic issue lot, especially metro scean, all metro have police people available, .

Absolutely perfect analysis. Such huge talented team (Kamal ji, Sankar ji in particular), not delivering is really sad. Unable to think how Ulaganayagan involvement, esp in screenplay, picturisation is lacking / missing. Music is another key factor impacted a lot.
