My understanding is that the meter has to have 3W or more in order to register, at least that is what I have seen in a couple of other videos.

Yes I had 5 watts, and it still wasn't reading right I even email surecom they didn't have any answers, but the wattage readings seem to be ok.

I know I'm late but I'm a newbie looking for an SWR meter and came across your videos about this. The video they have on Amazon showing you how to use it says you have to hold the Surecom unit with your hand. I wonder if this has something to do with it. Ground perhaps? Idk

No, not in this case, I have tried everything and even email them too, and they didn't really have an answer. And other people have had the same problem too.

just a FYI I sent SURECOM an email, hopefully they will get back to me soon. UPDATE (9/16/2022) I sent them more videos of proof of problem we are in talks, I will post something when I get an answer.

Thank you for doing actual testing for this product. There are a lot of RU-vid channels that sings its praises as an, "affordable swr/power meter alternative." I will be suspending the purchase of this product till or if, Surecom responds.Thanks for sharing.

I think you need to retest using a non-inductive resistor rated for greater than the wattage you are putting through it. Also, the traces on that board probably are not designed to handle that wattage either, which could be the reason for the skewed result.

That shouldn't matter doing a quick test it should read 1.7 swr, BUT I even get wrong reading on an antenna too, I forgot to say that in the video 🙁

I purchased a Surecom SW-33 Plus to test SWR and wattage on my GMRS radios prior to using them. I don't think it's working correctly. It shows 1.7 SWR on the dummy load and shows 19.9 SWR on the stock factory rubber duck antennas. Now I'm uncertain and don't want to talk on them until I know for certain it will be ok. Any suggestions?

1.7 SWR does seem a little high for a dummy load. As for a rubber duck antenna to test those, there is a special way to do that. I don't recall on how to do it but look online for the owner's manual, it should say in there.

I have the next model up swr meter. I got an antenna relocation kit for my body armor plate carrier last weekend. I decided to put it on the surecom for some reason. The swr was all over the place. I got as high as 19.xx
@GMRStwowayradio

That is interesting, did you email surecom?
@njw1977

No, I think there is something wrong with my antenna relocation kit. I forgot I have an old needle swr. I dug it out and I'm getting pretty much the same readings. I don't get it! I wonder if its the SMA to BNC to PL-259 adapters for the surecom?

@@njw1977 - I doubt it, but anything is possible. I checked mine they are ok

seems same case with me. Got 19swr on my diamond antenna using adapter bnc to sma on vhf. But for uhf got 3 to 4swr. 🤔

they say to test srw you need minimum of 3 watts or something like that

Yes, I had 5 watts and it still wasn't reading right.

@@GMRStwowayradio soo its noT only the swr that is wrong, the forward Watts are too cause it's saying 0.7

@@asotelles - yes it was just the SWR, I compare wattage with another meter and it was right. Well, the last time I checked it, lol
