@@arjunlalchandani3638 No bro, datura is not so important as bel Patra. It was mentioned in shiv puran, without bel Patra, shiv puja or shiv Abhishek is incomplete. Bel Patra represents maa shakti and it is similar to offer maa shakti to lord shiva, where as datura, janja, opium, poppy seeds etc were believed to be originated from small snake which resides in Mahadev hair locks and he used to put out his tongue to make play with snake and to get bitten by this snake before going to every meditation. So one day, Goddess UMA(parvathi) after Lord Shiva going to mediation she killed the snake and buried it, and later after sometime lord Mahadev arrived and saw there was his snake devotee missing so he went to past and got aware of it and also scolded goddess for that and he gave the buried snake boon that his body parts will be grown as janga , poppy, weeds, datura etc. for making his favourite bang. But it is not mandatory to offer datura to lord shiva, but bel Patra is mandatory as without bel Patra puja is totally incomplete

Bhagwan Shiv ji is bhole bhandari. He accepts anything(there are some exceptions, google it) as long as it is offered with one's full mind and heart.
