I think both England and Scotland teams were in the image of their managers when they were players. Focussing on possession, defence... no out & out strikers, no wingers. And he is reluctant to rate Scottish players like Shankland & Forrest. In another era would he have played Ally McCoist or Jimmy Johnstone?

All you have to do is look at Georgia, first game ever played 1990, first Euro Championships, 3.7 million population but they went for it, showed spirit, determination, teamwork, camaraderie & what happened, they beat Portugal & qualified for the next round. We on the other hand were poor, scared, defensive, I mean 5-4-1 in a 100% must win game & leave out Shankland who is your only proven goal scorer, abysmal from start to finish especially when you see the support they have...!
