Mark Evans wrote a memoir about his time in AC/DC called 'Dirty Deeds'. I highly recommend it for a real grass roots insight into the early days of the band and their first forays into international acclaim. My favourite bit was when he and Bon were in Paris and the sun was coming up after a verrry long night. Bon looked out from their hotel balcony, saw the Eiffel Tower, turned to Mark and said, "You know, they've got one of those in France as well."

Yes it's true Malcolm was drinking and Geezer did pull the knife , those days in Australia if anyone pulled a knife they were seen as a coward , so Malcolm dropped him , height has nothing to do with it , when drinking only fists were thrown and the next day it's forgotten , so anyway Malcolm was on the tour bus the next day and jumped off as they were passing the same pub , he went there to apologise to Geezer but only Ozzy was there , when Malcolm explained what happened Ozzy laughed and said Geezer deserved it because he did it many times to intimidate people and Ozzy warned him one day someone is going to flatten you , very amusing it was by someone half his height .

They eventually were categorized as 'Heavy Metal' towards the end of the 70's . It's how the record labels marketed AC/DC, Van Halen, RUSH, KISS, etc.. - if it was Hard ROck, it was considered 'Heavy Metal' . The split genres of Metal started in the early 80's (Thrash, Black, etc..) . Record Co.'s back then , thought the key was to categorize in genres and subgenres .

Height has nothing to do with it. Smaller guys are usually a lot more scrappy when it comes to fighting. But nobody was hit during this. It was more of Mal going wtf when Geezer pulled the knife. Geezer said he was just playing with his new knife and Mal took it the wrong way and that was it. Angus said Mal got it away after Geezer flashed the knife to him and felt bad and was going to apologize the next day and Ozzy said to Mal “Him and that knife! Tell him to fuck off!” And Mal said he took it away from Geezer and Ozzy was there and just said “go to bed.” Id go more with Angus’ story because he tended to stay sober over all the years.

Where there's smoke, there's fire. You don't get kicked off of a tour, after it has already started, without some event transpiring that forces the removal of an opening act. There are millions of dollars at stake. Having said that, the event that could've gotten ACDC removed from the tour might have been Black Sabbath getting smoked off stage by the opening act's performances. Black Sabbath hated to have any real competition to follow and their lustre had tarnished by this point in time. The other event that could've gotten ACDC thrown off the tour was the 'toxic twins' angle of Bon and Ozzy. If there were too many of those drunken escapades, that would have caused management to step in and intervene.

The tour was canceled after AC DC did a 20-minute set due to equipment problems in Lund Sweden April 1977. I don't know who to believe honestly, cos in 1977... Geezer Butler was heavily into drugs & booze. Gene Simmons recalled Geezer freaking out & running off when he greeted the Sabbath bassist in his 'demon' makeup & costume. This was when Kiss opened for Sabbath around 1975(?) Malcolm Young on the other hand was always smashed on booze, even in the early days... it got particularly bad by the 80's. Love both bands, respect both musicians... but it's hard to know what really happened when both guys are trashed on alcohol... Mark Evans did admit that his brash, drunken behavior likely cost him his gig w/ AC/DC in 1977, but we got bassist Cliff Williams 🤘🤘

just ask yourself what would it take for a band ion the rise with 4 great albums under their belt getting bigger each day to get sacked off a sabbath tour, a sabbath promoting a stinker album? more than just a TKO, a whole lot more to this than just rumors and a blade thats for sure..

I've read several Black Sabbath books and a couple of AC DC bios.. I guess Anything is Possible.. Geezer Butler is 6ft tall Malcolm Young was 5" 3" . The odds of Malcolm knocking him out cold are pretty small

Well, in those days, Geezer Butler was smashed on drugs & alcohol... and Malcolm was also known to drink a lot and get into scraps. It was Malcolm Young who got into a confrontation w/ his own brother George Young in 1987 while working on the album 'Blow up your video'... Malcolm's drinking got so bad by then that George was fed up and threatened to quit the sessions if Malcolm didn't 'clean up'... but that didn't work. Malcolm eventually quit the 1988 AC/DC tour to go to rehab...

5"3' actually. From what Ive read in many Books and old interviews from back in the 1980's and 1990's, Malcolm's Arm was loaded with a hair trigger. He wasn't gonna take shit from anyone. He was short but he was a scrapper. You gotta be when you are that short. If he didn't stick up for himself people would have run over him.

I believe Geezer Butler. Both bands were physically tough. Grew up in hard environments. Do you think for one minute Malcolm would get out of that hotel room alive if he put his hands on Geezer Butler? The road crew would have made a mess of him. Those who didn't know AC/DC got their butts kicked out by the Deep Purples Road crew in Australia. They had the balls to try and play through Deep Purples music equipment, lol. They were begging the crowd of Australian fans to help them as they were getting beat down like dogs. True story, look it up.

what's that have to do with ANYTHING? AC/DC already had 4 great albums under their belt, people know good music when they hear it just cuz they hadn't broke in a particular country doesn't mean squat, they had 4 very good albums out and everyone knew it was only a matter of time before they broke worldwide and raked in the cash , TNT, High Voltage, Dirty Deeds done Dirt Cheap, Let there Be Rock, that's at least 50% of their top library, everyone knew at that point they were a force to be reckoned with, even the flailing sabbath crew, why Oz wanted out..

I love both of them. I think Bon and Tony probably could fight well, though both were famously very nice. I love Geezer, but having a knife is pretty childish, pussy-ass. Particularly for a Scotsman. They grow up thinking hands are the only means. I think they just didn’t get along. Kind of sad, because the recollection of fans is that both bands consisted of the sweetest men. This is a professional confrontation based on each band’s performance, managers, staff, etc.
