Wonderful tools, tips and ideas. I am enjoying my easel too. I love your sorter for diamonds. Gotta get some of those containers. Thank you Grace, you are a blessing
Thank you so much for sharing! I absolutely agree with you about the pink wax. I tired tac'n stick but went back to the pink wax. By the way those white wax attachments you got from Alie work great with round drills and special shaped and even AB ones.
I tired floral clay, blue tac and the white tac, and came right back to the pink wax. I like it the very best!! I love these white, plastic single placers - they keep the drills from getting scratched up too - they just don't work very well with square drills. Have a fantastic weekend!! 😊💖🌺
Hello Grace, just found your videos. Thank you for all you tips. I have been doing DP for a short while. I fell in love with them. I’m still in the learning stage but I will be watching you so I can learn more.
Hi sweet Grace, so funny I was in Joann’s yesterday and they have a whole selection of diamond paintings and almost sent you a picture because I thought of you .💕 They had a cat that looked like Shayna. You make such beautiful paintings and I see you have so many different supplies. Nice hobby! Hope your back is feeling better and your brother is Ok . Hugs to 🐶🐶🐶 and btw of course the PINK 💖was is the best! Love and hugs, caren xx
Hi my dear Caren!! I love doing these diamond paintings - they are so relaxing!! You need a diamond painting of Shayna - lol!! I still do a bit of crochet, and I color some, but diamond painting is probably number one right now 😁 My back is MUCH better, my poor brother really suffers with his breathing, though. Of course, pink all the way for sure!! Hugs to your 😻😻😻( one of them is Ollie) Love you and sending lots of hugs!! 🌺💗💕🤗🥰
Hi Grace, Thank you for showing us what you use to diamond paint. Loved your light board and easel. They both look like it would make life easier. I have a light box that I got from Hobby Lobby. It works fine but, when I have some money saved I would like to invest in a light board. Hope everyone is well and life is good.
Hi Karen!! I really do love this light board - it is nice and sturdy. The easel has been a life-saver for some of my bigger canvases!! It's harder to get to the middle of the canvases, but this easel makes it much easier. All is well here - hope you are well, and have a fantastic Friday and weekend!! 😊💖💕
I am new at Diamond Painting and i am learning lots by watching videos and tonight i watched your video and i enjoyed it alot. I have subscribed so i dont miss any of your future videos. Thank you so much.
That was a awesome demonstration Grace. I also went back to just using the pink wax. I am thinking of the A3 light pad as well. I will have to get a set of them big trays and try out the plastic tips for the pens. Your video I am sure helped a lot of people out. Thanks for your time and doing the video on how you diamond paint and all the cool things you have. I wonder when are you going to do a live chat?????? Take care dear friend and have a wonderful day sending lots of hugs to you.
Hi my sweet friend, Angie!! I've decided the pink wax is just as good or better than other things I have tried. I really do love those trays, can shake them up without anything falling out!! I'm not sure when I will do a live - I am mentoring a teacher this year, so will have to see how things work out. It's so darn hot - you just might see me melt right on camera - lol!! Love you lots and sending tons of hugs 🌺💕😊🥰💖
Hi Nataliya!! I love this light pad - it works so well and I love that it has an electrical cord instead of a USB connection. Thank you so much for your kind words and you are so welcome!! 😊💖
Well we have a lot in common. Don’t have any wooden pens YET but I do have the plastic pens ordered. Love the light pad and easel also but I do like the craft mates. I need to get one of the trays. TFS.
Oh Judy, you have GOT to have the wooden ones - lol!! I love my wooden ones so much better. They are so lightweight and easy to hold. Of course we have a lot in common - we're are special 😁💖💕
I love them both too. When it's really hot, like it is now, I have a hard time wanting to crochet, but I do enjoy creating beautiful items in crochet too! I have quite a collection of yarn!!
I keep my house pretty cold so I work on baby blankets all year round. There is always a baby in need of a blanket. For the past 3 weeks or so I've gotten back into diamond painting. I did them before I learned to crochet and forgot how much I enjoy them as well
@@jenniferwalling8981 I learned to crochet by watching RU-vid and reading books back in 2011, so I've been doing that longer. Now that I've been diamond painting, I have fallen in love with it!! I like to crochet for charity, but these days you can't take anything anywhere, so that's put a stop to that. I really like to make things for people in the nursing homes, because so many of them seem to have been forgotten.
I learned from RU-vid as well. I tried to have my mother in law teach me. She showed me how to chain but but then we realized I'm a lefty and she's right handed so it wasn't going to work lol. I crochet for the enjoyment then gift my items when they're finished
I started with a small lightpad, but the larger one will make you so happy!! My easel saved my back and neck on some of my larger ones 😊 You are so welcome!! 💕🌺
I like some of your ideas. I had a disaster with parchment paper. It ruined my canvas because it didn’t just lift off. I’m also a yarn junky and was thoroughly intrigued by all I see ☺️
I've learned a whole lot more since I made that video. Sometimes it is just trial and error. I know use silicone release papers on my canvas. I'm a huge yarn junky, as you can see!! I have so much more than what you can see in this video - I love to crochet, and you never know when you are going to need a certain color LOL!
really contemplating that tilt table thing, not sure how my frozen shoulder would like it but yeah, I am always flipping the thing around, folding/rolling these large ones just to get into the middle.. I have a large collection and stash of coloring things too, but I can't pull myself away anymore from the diamond paintings.......... so addicted LOL.
You and me both on the coloring!! I have tons of supplies, but diamond painting keeps calling to me!! I like the easel, because I can fold it flat and put it away when I'm not using it. I spend a lot of time working on my DPs flat, until I get to the middle and can't reach it - that is such a pain. The addiction is so real!
Thank you for telling us that the plastic tips don’t work well for square drills 😊. I thought I was doing something wrong I will try again with my next round canvas. 💎💎💎
You are so welcome!! I discovered by trying to use it with squares, and it was not working at all!! They are fantastic with round drills though - love them!!! Have fun DPing!! 😊💖💎
Love love my light board. I would not be able to manage without it😄 I was not aware there is a wooden ajustable table. I am currently working on a large canvas and its not eazy getting around without touching sticky parts that are not yet worked on. This video has been very helpful and instructional for me 😉I looked you up on Amazon so when I am ready I will order several items that will make my hobby more enjoyable than it already is. thanks for sharing all the info and your tools. 😚blessings hermanita
That is my favorite light board - it is nice and bright, and very sturdy!! The adjustable easel really makes it easy when working on bigger canvases! My link to my Amazon store is under this video, so you don't have to look it up 😊 Love you hermanita - hugs and blessings!! 🥰🤗😘
I enjoyed your video, thanks for sharing your favorites. I have an almost identical draft table/easel and we modified it so that I can also use it on my lap [I did a video showing how we did it]. I have some physical limitations, so we are often adapting things so I can at least continue with my hobbies :) I'm glad I found your channel :)
I watched your video on how you converted yours into a laptop easel - very ingenuous!! So glad you are able to continue your crafts. I watched several of your videos and subscribed - I also enjoy doing different types of crafts. Mostly crochet, coloring and diamond painting 😊💖
gbmaltese Thank you so much! Yes, I got excited when I saw yarn behind you. I’m so glad I found your channel. I was unaware of all the adult coloring books - other than some Mandala coloring books I got as gifts. I’m seeing all these gray scale books with gorgeous images on other channels . . . I see some of those in my future. I am in the process of ordering a wood pen from Bill. I looked at his FB page after watching your video & messaged him about something. I was thinking I’d order a little closer to Christmas & let it be a gift from my husband, but Bill didn’t know that & he was so incredibly accommodating that I don’t have the heart to tell him. So ... 😂 Thanks again for all the great info and especially for subscribing 🤗 Have a great night.
@@LindaFromMySelfCareStudio I have LOTS of yarn - lol!! I also have several grayscale coloring books and many more regular coloring books. Different types of colored pencils, gel pens, alcohol markers, chalks etc... I guess I should do a few coloring videos on my channel 😊 Yes, Bill is very nice - I really do love the wooden DP pens I bought from him. I really do enjoy your channel - it's nice to meet someone else with the same types of interests. Have a lovely night 🌺
gbmaltese gbmaltese That would be fun to watch! And I’d love to see your favorite things for coloring too. I’ve got a small set of prismacolor pencils and then some cheap ones. I have some Copic & Blick alcohol markers - but not a wide variety. I have some chalks, pastels, gelatos, etc - can you use those in the coloring books?!? I was only looking at the acrylic drill pens until you mentioned the woods are lighter. Then I saw he has Olive Wood from Bethlehem and that was the clincher, lol. I’ve enjoyed conversing with you :)
Hi Linda I just purchased a wood pen from Bill last week per Grace's recommendation. It's going to take 4-6 weeks for him to get it done, so if you are looking for Christmas buy soon, and just hide it until Christmas. Take Care
Thank you for all your tips and links. I just started D painting so these tips help alot. I started watching you with the crochet. I was wondering if you are still crocheting. It's still my first love I guess.
Hi Robin!! I still crochet, but I seem to be doing more diamond painting now - it is so relaxing for me, and I don't get any hand pain like I do if I crochet for long periods of time. I still love my crochet though!! 😊💖🌺
Yeah! Thank you so much! I just ordered a set of three! I have also ordered pictures off of Amazon and I am so disappointed! I know the bigger the canvas you get more details. But these are just a blob of drills! Also the drills are miniature sized rounds. I guess I have to be more careful when I order! Or be able to choose the size! I just joined your videos!
You are so welcome! Thanks for joining me - I appreciate it! Yes, you have to be careful when ordering diamond paintings. If it is a small one, you really want something with very little detail, like something with just one or two objects in the picture, otherwise, it will look just like you said, a blob.
I got the silicone gel pad and cut it teeny tiny to fit in my DP pen. Takes some patience to get it in there. But it lasts for a long time. I just rinse it off when I want to clean it. :)
Havent done a lg DP yet but i will keep this tip in mind. I thought that you had to keep it rolled up when working on an easel. Glad to know differently :-) I wear bifocals (and need new glasses too)but I use MAG-EYES for magnification.Happy that you have a store. One of the DPs you have is on my Amazon wish list. I will order thru yr link. Lastly, luv yr top! Thx for sharing!
I have seen some people roll their canvases, but there is no written rule on how you want to do it - lol!! I have found it very easy to just let mine hang, so I can keep turning it when I want to get to a different spot. I tried rolling mine before, but it made it stick out where I couldn't get a nice, flat surface when placing my drills, so I do it this way 😊 I need to look for MAG-EYES, and see if it is something that would help me - I have Progressive lenses, but I still need more magnification when looking at some of these symbols!! Thank you for the compliment 🌺💕💖
I got mine @ Hobby Lobby in the late 90's-early 2000's. It came w/2 lens: a 2.5x & 4x magnifications. Lucky you! They sell these on Amazon plus extra and stronger magnifications. I dont use a light pad, my overhead light is good. Next time I'm going to get progressive lenses tho. My prescription is old lol.Keep up the great work. Your recommendations are solid!😀
This maybe too late but, I use flip up magnifying glasses to help me see my work. They flip up like sunglasses and I don't have to keep taking them on and off.
Hi Grace. I’m new to diamond painting. I’m on my second one so far. I’m hooked.. your gbmaltese caught my eye, as I’m Maltese. Someone mentioned your ‘Maltese’ painting, can’t find it, would be interested in taking a look at it. Thanks. Ps I am enjoying your videos.
Hi Dorothy!! Yes, diamond painting can really become an addictive craft - I love it!! My channel name is named after one of my pets I owned that I was very close to - she was a Maltese breed. My sister also had a Maltese that helped her get over the death of her husband, so I am very fond of the breed. The "Maltese" painting is of a Maltese dog, and here is the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-rQIzfEWPl7M.html I start unrolling the canvas at about the 22 minute mark if you are interested in seeing it!! Thank you for your kind words!! 😊🌺
Thank you for sharing your favorites! I have a drafting table - but I’m liking your little tabletop easel better. I lose table space when I put it up. The side tray is on the wrong side for me lol. Have you thought about selling one of your acrylic drill pens? I don’t have Facebook so haven’t been able to get in on any of the decent ones 😒
You are so welcome!! I have actually thought about doing a giveaway with the acrylic pens - send me an email at: gbmaltese86@gmail.com, and I'll talk to you about it 😊💖
Thank you so much I have tendonitis, carpol tunnel, & tissues, ligaments problem, those skinny acarilic pens hurt my hands, fingers so much, & yes the reading glasses & light OMG do help tons, I told my daughter to get those 2 items even though she don't need reading glasses but you do need them. Thank you have a blesses day 🤗 sorry I'm a beginner I have a question what I do with the left over drills and what I use them for after I finish my project
Yes, those little pink pens can really make your hands and fingers really hurt! I don't mind you asking questions at all!! I used to save my drills when I finished a painting, but now I just throw them away. They were just taking up too much space, and I have been very lucky in always having enough drills for all of my kits 😊💖🌺
What do you do with your extra beads when you are finished? Yes, I color, too, and knit, crochet, cross stitch. I am on my first diamond painting. I needed another hobby!
If the drills are good, I will keep them, otherwise I throw them out. I find that different companies have different colors of drills - just like with yarn - different dye lots. Yes - we always need more hobbies - lol!! Hope you love this one!
They have glasses I wear that I got from rite aid but they have them at walmart also .they are magnified and have little lights on both sides on top. I use them all the time I do diamond painting they are like 19.99 each
Thank you for the great info.! I also like wooden drill pens. Very light. I love mine! I received some of the straightener dtilll pens and they are pretty handy! Did you cut your hsir? it lookes great! Many blessi9ngs my lovely dear friend 💚🤝💜💙❤
I am ordering some of the 4 placers right now! I hate when the drills get stuck in the pen and have been wondering if there was something better to use! Thank you so much for this video.
I quit using multi-placers because of that problem, until I found these!! These are so much easier - hope you love them as much as I do!! You are very welcome 💖🌺
Thank you for sharing! I have tried different storage systems, and have found that if my DP comes already in Ziploc baggies, I use them, if not, I use my 60 piece case. BTW, How is your mentoring going?
You are so welcome!! If mine come in Ziplock baggies, I will also use them right out of the bags too. I have met with my mentee once, so far, and it went well. I tried to meet with her today, but she had meetings all day. School starts next Wednesday, so I'll be there for that!! 😊💖
Hi Josephine!! So nice to hear from you. I hear that Malta is a beautiful place! You are so welcome and please let me know if you have any questions 🌺💖💕
Hi Linda!! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video. I have put links to some of the items below this video. Click on the arrow to open up the description box, and you will see them 😊
Craftmate is nice but if you drop it and it land on that tab lock it will open several boxes I had it happen more than once on me all my colors mixed on floor and scary part don’t know which colors go where when they look alike in shade is close in color so now I place a drill on top as well with label
Craftmate is not one of my favorites. My favorite is the Elizabeth Ward storage container, or else I just work from the bags that come with the DP if they are ziploc bags. What happened to you sounds awful!!
Hi Grace, I just started diamond painting and I’m only on my third one. I was wondering about alternatives to the pink wax only if it doesn’t last the whole painting. You said you tried everything and I believe you, lol. But what’s best to use if the pink wax gets to hard to use. I keep it in the clear little plastic container I got with one of my kits. Btw, the first time I heard the words diamond painting was from you. I first started watching you for crochet awhile ago and you showed one of your paintings on a crochet video. I didn’t catch the bug till fairly recently tho. But rest assured, I caught it!
Hi Terry!! YAY - you caught the bug - LOL!! I find I can diamond paint without hand pain much longer than I can crochet. I am going to put some links to some of the things I have tried from Amazon. 1. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004BQ084C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 2. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00WWTWY2Y/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 3. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00U1Q62V4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 4. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B018A3AG0W/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 These are the ones that I have tried that I can remember 😊 You can also buy extra pink wax on Amazon if you need more of it. Hope this helps you!! 💖🌺
Thanks for the idea of the readers, I wear bifocals and find I do better taking my glasses off and getting close to the canvas which makes my neck hurt. Do you still need the readers when you use your easel, I’ve thought about an easel.
I'm the same as you - I can see up close much better without my glasses, but I have to get so close I nearly glue my nose to the canvas - lol!! I don't always have to use the readers, but my eyes tire very easily, so I use them a lot just to keep from straining them. I have progressive lenses in my glasses and still need the readers for a bit more magnification. I hope I have answered your question 😊
Hi Grace, I just started Diamond painting and purchased some of your recommendations. I have a question about the readers you purchase for magnification. I also wear progressives and was wondering what strength of readers that you purchase to help with magnifying the symbols.
I buy them on Amazon!! Here is the link: www.amazon.com/dp/B06X9FVL31/?cv_ct_id=amzn1.idea.9QU3HWVH325R&cv_ct_pg=storefront&cv_ct_wn=aip-storefront&ref=exp_cov_gbmaltese_dp_vv_d These are my absolute favorite grips to use!!
Hi Grace. How do you store your left over drills. I have seen some videos that say different companies don't always use the same DMC numbers. Have you had this issue?
Hi Donna! I quit saving my left over drills. It was a hassle, and costs more to keep buying storage for them, so I don't keep them. Plus, as you mentioned, the colors are not always the same. I also crochet, and I notice that I can buy yarn from the same company, and purchase the same color, but it will be a different dye lot, and the colors don't match. I'm not sure if that is what happens with the drills or not, but I just throw them away now, unless they are special drills that I want to keep to add sparkle to another diamond painting. I have been lucky to always have enough drills, and one time when I didn't, I just contacted the company, and they sent the extras to me. Also, there are some stores on Etsy and AliExpress that sell drills if you run out. Anyway, I just don't save them anymore 😊💕
Thank you so much Cathy - your sweet compliment has made my day 🌺🥰 I'm glad it showed up for you - you can never tell what RU-vid will do from one day to the next 😊💕🌺
I think I figured out which pencil grip you use but they are all out or discontinued! Can you give me exact information. I want to order at least one if I can find them.
Here is the link to where I bought them, so you can see them better: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06X9FVL31/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 All I can tell you is that they are firm, 3-sided and I have only seen them in blue. I really wish I could find more of these, as I love them. Good luck!!
Hey Grace I happened to find you when I was trying to find a video on how to keep pom Poms from falling apart lol ... My question is I'm very interested in the Diamond paintings and never done them before.. So any advice for a beginner ? Thanks so much ..
Hi Neecy!! I would recommend that you start with a small diamond painting with round drills. This way you can see if you like it without spending a lot of money. Here are a couple of examples from Amazon: 1. www.amazon.com/Diamond-Painting-Rhinestone-Decor%EF%BC%8CLittle-owl%EF%BC%8CSize/dp/B07PJZYXY5/ref=sr_1_7?crid=188NS0C42V4AT&keywords=cute%2Bowl%2Bround%2Bdrill%2Bdiamond%2Bpainting%2Bkits&qid=1644203170&sprefix=cute%2Bowl%2Bround%2Bdrill%2Bdiamond%2Bpainting%2Bkits%2Caps%2C82&sr=8-7&th=1 2. www.amazon.com/ZSNUOK-Painting-Embroidery-Supplies-Diamonds/dp/B07QM44C85/ref=sr_1_37?crid=3HAZ0WTUJ1OBT&keywords=cute%2Bdog%2Bdiamond%2Bpainting%2Bkits&qid=1644203531&sprefix=cute%2Bdog%2Bdiamond%2Bpainting%2Bkits%2Caps%2C95&sr=8-37&th=1 3. www.amazon.com/Diamond-Painting-Kits-Adults-Rhinestone/dp/B08Y8ZY76L/ref=sr_1_12?crid=12N7X0SW6489H&keywords=gnome%2Bdiamond%2Bpainting%2Bkits&qid=1644203968&sprefix=gnome%2Bdiamond%2Bpainting%2Bkits%2Caps%2C87&sr=8-12&th=1 I just chose these simple designs to start with, but you can find all kinds on Amazon for a good price. You might want a simple set of containers to start with, so you can organize your drills in them while working on the diamond painting. Here's an example of an inexpensive set of containers: www.amazon.com/HANAKIN-Rhinestone-Accessories-Decoration-Transparent/dp/B098N9Q1N6/ref=sr_1_5?crid=2M8AMP6NURXG4&keywords=gem+container+storage&qid=1644204136&sprefix=gem+container%2Caps%2C108&sr=8-5 I would wait on getting a light board until you see if you enjoy diamond painting, but I definitely recommend you get one if you find you are addicted to it like the rest of us LOL!! Hope that helps you to get started!!
I get the wood pens from different places. Here are a few places I have purchased from that are still in business: www.etsy.com/shop/KevinsKreationStore?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=1284141575 www.etsy.com/shop/FollowingTheGrain?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=767314075 (it takes a few weeks to get your pen from Following the Grain, but they are beautiful) www.etsy.com/shop/ATDiamondPen?ref=usf_2020 I hope you find something you like in one of these shops!! I love my wooden DP pens - they are so lightweight and comfortable to use.
Hi gb, I too love using my easel as it puts me at a better position for the spondylitis in my neck, however I'm still trying to find a better method of getting the drills from the tray, which is on my table, to the canvas, there is lot of large repeated shoulder movements doing this, wheres when you are doing it flat on the table and can place the drill tray right next to the part you are working on, you only need a small wrist action to move from tray to canvas. When using your easel where do you place your drill tray? thank you and I love your videos
Hi Rita! When I'm using my easel, I hold the tray in one hand and my DP pen in the other, so it's not a long ways to place the drill. Sometimes, I have it laying flat on the table, so it's not a long reach at all - I just have to change it around a bit. I hope that makes sense.
@@gbmaltese Thanks for the reply gb, I do understand what you are saying in that you hold the drill tray in your left hand when using the easel upright, unfortunately I would also have difficulty doing this for any length of time, I think I need to widen my search to find an easel that has a wide ledge on the bottom to hold a drill tray, again thank you for replying so quickly x
@@Xinte60 I wonder if you stacked some books or some other items in front of your DP, and set the tray on top of the stack, if that might help. Just an idea. I hope you find something that helps you out!!
Hello Grace I always enjoy your videos I have the same table top easel that you have do you find that your canvas gets creased on the top hanging over I have used a pool noodle but I'm wondering is it necessary
Hi Linda!! I change the position of my canvas when working in different areas, so I haven't had any problems with creasing. Also, I sometimes take the canvas off the easel when not working on it to let it lie flat. I have never used a pool noodle, so I'm not sure if you need one or not. If it helps you, then I would use it 😊 I'm glad you brought this up, as others might have the same problem!! 🌺💕🌺
That's good to know I have another question for you Grace I'm having problem with the pink wax stain in my pen sometimes I go to pick up a diamond and the wax came out on the last Diamond I placed have you ever had that happen and if so what can you do to stop
@@lindagarcia7788 Yes, I have had that happen. I just clean the pen out and put new wax in. I am just guessing that the wax gets old and hard when it pulls out like that - it doesn't happen to me very often, but I do know what you are talking about. Not sure how to stop it - maybe clean the wax out of the pen every so often and put fresh wax in. 💎💖
There are 2 magnets on the back of the cover minder. One of them comes off and you put that one underneath the DP, and place the pretty piece on top so that they stick together. They hold your covers on the DP from fall onto the parts you are working on. I hope that makes sense 😊
